BUXOM Fall 2016 Eyeshadows Reviews, Photos, Swatches
BUXOM Eyeshadow
BUXOM Silver Screen Eyeshadow ($12.00 for 0.05 oz.) is a brilliant lavender with subtle, warm undertones and a sparkling, metallic finish. This shade had more noticeable sparkle, though I didn’t notice any fall out during the day, which I think is owed to the denser, thicker consistency of the eyeshadow overall. It had great color payoff, and the powder had a smooth, cream-like feel to it that was blendable and adhered well on the skin. This shade wore well for eight hours. Anastasia Seaside (LE, $12.00) is less shimmery, darker (90% similar). KVD Beauty Heaven (LE, ) is less shimmery (90% similar). BUXOM Made of Jade Eyeshadow ($12.00 for 0.05 oz.) is a bright, light-medium green with subtly warmer gold shimmer on top with a slightly cooler, silvery base paired with a frosted finish. It had good pigmentation with a soft, smooth, and blendable texture, which was a little looser in the pan compared to the shades. It applied well, though, but it is one that I liked better with a firmer/flatter brush. This shade wore nicely for eight hours before fading slightly. Sydney Grace Mint Chocolate Chip (LE, $6.25) is lighter (95% similar). Danessa Myricks Titanium (P, $18.00) is lighter, warmer (90% similar). Tom Ford Beauty Soleil et Lune #4 (LE, ) is less shimmery, lighter (90% similar). Dior Bonne Etoile (384) #5 (LE, ) is less shimmery, lighter (90% similar). BUXOM Rose Gold Eyeshadow ($12.00 for 0.05 oz.) is a rich, medium-dark gold with a warm, reddish-copper base paired with a frosted finish. It didn’t seem to shift color, but it had a very strong base color and a more contrasting shimmer color, which gave it a lot of dimension and depth on the lid. In some ways, I think it had more nuance than a duochrome, since it is apparent regardless of the angle. Makeup Geek Ritzy (DC, $6.00) is more shimmery (95% similar). ColourPop Tea Garden (P, $4.50) is more shimmery, lighter (90% similar). Terra Moons Hot Spiced Cider (P, $8.50) is more shimmery, lighter (90% similar). BUXOM Dusk ‘Til Dawn Eyeshadow ($12.00 for 0.05 oz.) is a medium-dark, forest green with warm, olive undertones and a soft, frosted sheen. The color payoff was amazing with fully opaque coverage immediately as a little went a long way. The texture was soft, smooth, dense, and creamy, which made it easy to use on the lid as it blended out nicely and sat well on the skin. This shade stayed on for eight and a half hours before creasing faintly. Sydney Grace Pear Tree (P, $6.25) is more shimmery, cooler (95% similar). Makeup Geek Masquerade (Stroke of Midnight) (LE, $9.99) is less shimmery, darker, cooler (95% similar). Wet 'n' Wild Dragon Scales #3 (LE, ) is less shimmery (95% similar). BUXOM Twilight Tryst Eyeshadow ($12.00 for 0.05 oz.) is a deep, almost blackened, blue-teal with cooler undertones and a strong, purple-red base. It had a near-metallic finish. The texture was very dense, though it was still smooth and blendable on the skin. It had fantastic pigmentation that applied and adhered well to bare skin. The color wore well for nine hours on me, and it did stain just faintly. Haus Labs Deep Teal Shimmer (P, $24.00) is darker, more muted (95% similar). Makeup Geek Secret Garden (DC, $6.00) is more shimmery (95% similar). Tarte Trendy (PiP, ) is less shimmery, more muted (90% similar). Too Faced Storm Cloud (LE, $16.00) is warmer (90% similar). BUXOM Bronzed Bod Eyeshadow ($12.00 for 0.05 oz.) is a deep, dark bronze with subtle, warmer undertones and a metallic sheen. It was intensely pigmented with a dense, buttery consistency that was so smooth that it almost felt like a cream eyeshadow. It applied beautifully and blended out almost effortlessly. The color started to crease after eight hours of wear on me. Tom Ford Beauty Soleil d'Hiver #4 (LE, ) is less shimmery, darker, warmer (95% similar). Makeup by Mario Ethereal Eyes #8 (LE, ) is less shimmery, warmer (95% similar). Anastasia Baby I'm a Star (LE, $12.00) is less shimmery (95% similar). FORMULA OVERVIEW | BUXOM Eyeshadow ($12.00 each or $40 for six) is a powder eyeshadow that is available as a customizable palette system, where you can purchase a single shade and an individual compact for $12 or purchase a six-pan palette, plus six eyeshadows to go inside of it, for $40. Each eyeshadow is held inside a metal pan that is (presumably) glued into a plastic pan that snaps into the compact/palette. The eyeshadows are easily lifted in and out of the palette, so you can rearrange them or create a new combination if you have more than one set of six. They will fit into a Z-palette, but you’ll need to add a magnet to keep it in place. The eyeshadow formula is one that works better in action than swatched, as several of the mattes seemed on the thinner, more powdery side, but then they would blend exceptionally well while adhering to bare skin–and they wouldn’t fade any faster than the more shimmery eyeshadows. The more shimmery shades tended to outperform the matte shades with better color payoff. These eyeshadows seem to have a slightly firmer press to them (more in the style of your average MAC eyeshadow), and they feel quite different compared to bareMinerals’ Ready line, as those have a thicker, denser consistency.

Full breakdown of this look here
Silver Screen looks beautiful!
It might be time to finally make a Buxom palette!
How fun! 😀
Rose Gold and Twilight Tryst are on my list — they’re gorgeous. I can’t manage metallic on my lids but am going to try both out for liners
They are lovely! They aren’t super metallic – there is a definite sheen, but it isn’t true metallic, IMO! 🙂
Argh! The problem with these palettes is that in order for them to be a good deal, you have to buy all six shades at once. So I added 5 of these 6 (didn’t want Silver Screen) to my basket. While looking through color swatches to decide on a 6th color, Bronzed Bod went out of stock and now I’m stuck waiting until it comes back in and others are likely to go out of stock during that time. Who knows when all six colors that I want will actually be in stock at the same time! 🙂
Ulta might also end up having them (not sure, though!) at some point. They have the initial set, and Sephora does tend to get things earlier than other retailers (just in general).
I somehow hit the sweet spot between Bronzed Bod coming back in stock and Rose Gold going out of stock and managed to get them all in my cart and hit checkout. Now I just need to see if it actually all ship! haha.
I contacted Ulta corporate today and unfortunately they said they will not be getting these shades in at all. Bummer!
Oh no! 🙁
Yep, that’s what happened to me when I tried to put a custom Buxom palette together during the Sephora sale last year. A couple of the shades I wanted were out -of- stock, and by the time they came back in stock, sale was over! So, I might have to just bite the bullet and get them regular priced, but good thing the price is very reasonable to begin with!
Yes!! All A’s! Buying all of these 🙂 I’m just being patient though as I hope they will upload to Ulta’s website before Saturday! I have a 20% off code so I’m holding off and hoping for the best.
Yay! Here’s hoping they do! I’ve been holding onto my code until closer to the sale end date in case any new things (in general) release… since nothing I would buy presently is pressing at all.
Yes to also wanting them all the A’s are nice to see as well.
These are really nice! I might have to put a palette together at some point 🙂
They were great!
Ehrmagawd!! I needs these shadows like baaad! Can’t wait until fall to grab this. 6 gorgeous customizable shades that are all rated A’s for $40??? What a steal! Like I said, I couldn’t pull the trigger on Tom Ford Last Dance because it was $80, and the color/formula wasn’t perfect, but the teal blue/brown/olive green/gold shadows here look far superior and at half the price. I will probably substitute Silver Screen for another color, just because I don’t think the lavender goes with this palette, but I have like 50 other shades to choose from LOL Thanks Buxom!!! If you keep doing this, I see more palettes in my future 🙂
I hope future shades will be as good as well!
Yeah, the original shades were a mixed bag, but these new ones have knocked it out of the ballpark, and they included a couple of tougher colors, like the lilac lavender and the teal blue. Glad they didn’t play it safe and just issue more neutrals. Great job, Buxom! Please keep it up, and I will be ordering more palettes. I haven’t seen any reviews or swatches for these new shades, no promos/announcements either, so I think you are single-handedly selling them for Buxom!
Looks like it’s time to try out some Buxom eye shadows! Your eye look is simply stunning! Really beautiful!
Thanks, Kellee!
Yes! I was hoping for great grades. These are arriving tomorrow and I am so excited. I was checking sephora every hour waiting for them all to be in stock and bronze bod was out again after I purchased but before mine shipped, so I was worried. Having to buy 6 for the deal is kinda eh, but the price is so good that way and these are all gorgeous!
Hope you like yours, Holeigh!
Wow, I think I want at least four of those. Twilight Tryst is stunning.
I love that you included the full face photo with the eye look, as well as the break down! I’m always curious to see how it looks from a bit of a distance and with a lipstick pairing and such. You did such a nice job with this look!
I wish I could that for you more often; unfortunately, I am usually in some state of different makeup on parts of my face with nothing coordinating!
Lol. Totally understandable. Can’t complain about you working so hard to test all those products for us!
These eyeshadows are absolutely beautiful. I am waiting for my Sephora to get them so I can create my custom palette!
Yay!
I didn’t realize BUXOM shadows were so nice! I obviously need to try them out =) I think summer and fall releases are my favorite.
Some of them are really nice, not all are hits.
They all look gorgeous and they make a very nice fall palette altogether!
They are very fall-appropriate!
These are amazing for the price! And it’s so nice to be able to put a palette together easily and not worry about dupes! I’m definitely buying a palette when I’ve finished my current no-buy. I’ll have to get it from Sephora and suck up the shipping fees though. It shouldn’t be charged customs fees though if it’s only a small inexpensive purchase.
Good luck on your no-buy! 🙂
These are stunning!
They are!
These are all stunning, but I especially love Rose Gold and Dusk ‘Til Dawn.
They are pretty!
Looks beautiful on you! I have to say, I love your eye looks, but it’s even better when I can see a total face shot because it allows me to better judge how it’ll look on the face. I think it’s because from far away, you can see how all the colors pair together!
Thanks, Christina!
Wauw, I didn’t even know the brand Buxom. These shades are so rich! Very beautiful!
They have been around for awhile, I think!
These look so rich!
They were intense!
I don’t own any Buxom shadows but this little palette is gorgeous and the quality looks amazing. I may have get it. Oh can’t wait to see your review on the new Viseart palette 09 coming soon.
Sorry, I don’t have that Viseart palette!
What is this new Viseart 09 palette?? Eeek, my wallet is panicking already
I love this eye look on you! I’m continually impressed with your skills!
Thanks, Audrey!
Don’t mind me, just over here drooling all over everything. If this line up had just two matte shades (a neutral highlight and a blending/crease shade), I’d throw them all in a palette and use it forever. (Okay, I know I can actually do that since these are made to customize with, but you know what I mean!)
And I LOVE the look you put together, Christine!
Thank you, Lacey!
Magnifico!!! Love this look on you, Christine. Enough to put a 6-pan of my own together. But mine will sub this light green with Room Service, and Glitz Factor for *something*? I hope I’m saying the right name for the deep orange w/ gold glitter!
But Twilight Tryst, Rose Gold, Silver Screen and Bronze Bod need to come home with me, for sure!
Hopefully you can find a couple to complete your palette! 🙂
I’m wearing Glitz Factor right now, it’s a beautiful salmony-coral-gold! I love it! I also have Room Service, which is pretty beautiful with a primer!
Twilight Tryst is GORGEOUS. I have several similar shades and don’t even care, will definitely purchase.
Hope you enjoy it, Hanna!
These shades are all beautiful, I love that they are customizable.
Me too! I think they did a good job with their palette system.
Wow, stunning look!
Thanks, Ellie!
Oh, wow. Gorgeous! I want them all, but Rose Gold is amazing. I love most of my Buxom singles that I picked up last year (in fact, wearing a few right now!), these are some great additions!
So happy to hear you’re enjoying your singles 🙂
So glad these rated well! These colors are lovely. And what a fabulous eye look on you!
Thanks a lot, Chris!
Absolutely love the way you put this look together.
Thanks, Shari!
I just ordered all of these, you’re ruining me?
Fingers crossed they live up to your expectations, Alice!
You selected these, right? Meaning, this isn’t one of their few preselected palettes, right? Yearn for fall, and it’s June, but fall is my favorite m/u season, maybe bec the pinks and corals get back burnered. BMBuxom is scoring big; their shadows are only improving. Got to find that single S had as a 100 pointer, then google the ingredients. That one was a prob for me, but the psoriasis on my lids is cleared, so maybe they’re a go now. Not that I need eyeshadow encouragement. Love both the close up and distance shots. Gives a fuller perspective. Very flattering.
Yes, they had six new shades, so I put all six in the palette!
I will just die to see the colors. OMG! so gorgeous. BTW is the palette customizable or pre-made? tried to spot it in Sephora site but couldn’t find it 🙁
It’s customizable!
Your eyes look amazing! Those colors are so intense. They will be mine!
Update: they are mine, I bought them yesterday…
Hope you love them!
Thank you, Rayna!
Beautiful shadows, stunning look! Glad these are permanent. I’m gonna pick them up when the initial hype has died down and there won’t be any stocking issues.
I hope you can check ’em out sometime, Lydia!
… sh*t. I need this.
Uh oh!
All these colours are just fabulous and I love them all. Your eye look is just amazing. These are my sort of colours and I want to get them….badly…..
Thank you, Genevieve!
Stunning!!
They are!
Your eyes look beautiful! Did you use all 6 colors? Can you tell me how you did this? 🙂
http://www.temptalia.com/look/a-rich-jewel-toned-look-for-fall/
I am so impressed with these… Ulta had the promo that if you bought 6 shadows, you received the empty palette and it was all just $40.00! That was a total steal. I was thinking that the quality would be so-so, would omg was I wrong. I definitely have to pick up some of these new colors!!!
Yep! That’s how the Buxom Eyeshadow Bar range works 🙂
Do you know if the new shades are exclusive to Sephora? I see them on their site, but are not yet listed at Ulta. I generally try to avoid Sephora at all costs, but Twilight Tryst, Rose Gold, and Silver Screen are calling my name BIG TIME, and I adore the Buxom shadow formula. They’re my favorite at the moment. Thanks for the post. The swatches are just gorgeous, and your eye look is too!
I’m not sure – BUXOM did not send any press release for these.
