Butter London Two Fingered Salute Nail Lacquer Review, Photos, Swatches
Butter London Two Fingered Salute Nail Lacquer
Butter London Two Fingered Salute Nail Lacquer ($15.00 for 0.40 fl. oz.) is described as a “muted, patinaed green cream with copper micro glitter.” It’s a dirty, aqua-green with a hint of cooler, blue tones to it with very fine, copper sparkle strewn through it. I wanted to try this shade after readers suggested it as a possible dupe for Illamasqua Melange (which is hard to get in the U.S.), but Melange is a much warmer, medium grassy green more with more golden shimmer/micro-glitter. Cult Nails Grunge (P, $12.00) is very similar in the base color but is a cream. China Glaze Keep Calm, Paint On (LE, $7.50) is a lighter cream. Zoya Bevin (P, $9.00) is bluer and has a cream finish. See comparison swatches / view dupes.
It was fully opaque after two coats, and it applied well without streaking, bubbling, or pooling along the edges. The consistency seemed thinner than average, but it wasn’t problematic. The polish dries down faster than average and had a flatter finish that wasn’t matte but lacked glossiness, so I would recommend a top coat if you wanted a plusher look to the end result. I typically get a full week of wear out of Butter London’s formula with very minor tip wear and no chipping.

This shade reminds me of aged copper! Still haven’t tried anything from Butter London. I try not to buy nail polishes because I really don’t wear them enough (says the woman who just bought three from RBL…)!
LOL! I just bought a bunch from RBL after a long break. I’m weak.
That’s what it is! I knew it reminded me of something!
This looks pretty! The colors are pretty unique.
It is!
While I ADORE this color I get tip wear on it almost immediately, unlike other polishes.
Oh no! 🙁
Wondering how similar this might be to the Fall Illamasqua release. In any event. I love this. My kinda weird muted complex looking nail colour.
Melange? If that’s the one, definitely not similar 🙁
While not exactly the same I think it wills satisfy my desire for Melange but unwillingness to pay the exorbitant shipping charges to get it to the US.
Come on Beautylish! You’re already my go to for several UK brands.
Fingers crossed Illamasqua comes back!
Now THAT is a fall color! I love it! Christine, so if your polish bubbles that means there’s something about the formula that makes it bubble??? I always thought I was just applying it wrong!
As far as I know, it is often more related to formula, whether it’s your base coat or the polish itself. I haven’t seen bubbling very often, but it seems to be consistent (e.g. across all the nails, not just one, or any time I use that particular shade).
What a unique shade! I really like it!
Yay!
Not as blown away as I thought I would be, but definitely still loving this color.
Perhaps it is the lightness of it that is less impactful?
Great to see you review this! Colour wise, it’s very possibly my favourite polish ever, but I haven’t had great luck with the formula myself. It’s also a pain to get ahold in the UK of as it’s a US exclusive shade (despite the company being called butter London…)
Completely missed Melange somehow, which looks absolutely gorgeous, as a bonus easy to get in the UK… its on my holiday wish list for sure, if I can wait until then :D.
A fun color but I’d probably only wear it in the spring.
I must be odd gal out because I find this colour quite unappealing though I really like that effect of the gold that isn’t hunks of glitter…it looks almost like a slightly marbled veining. I hope they have or come out with other polish shades that have this effect.
I got totally obsessed with this when I came out, and I cried a lot (well, maybe dramatizing here, lol) about the fact that it was basically impossible to get in Europe. I bouth Illamasqua Melange thinking it would be similar, and well… while they are quite different, the main idea is still similar so I’m happy with it.
I love the idea of a verdigris nail polish. This comes close to capturing that. I like it.
Oh, that’s disappointing. I was really hoping it would be more like Melange. I guess I just have to keep pining until someone starts selling Illamasqua stateside again.
As the person who normally rolls their eyes at expensive nail polishes, this is GORGEOUS and might just be some kind of gateway nail polish that changes my mind…..
Very pretty verdigris kind of color. I still like Illamasqua’s Melange better, but this is definitely more budget-friendly. I think I’d like it better if it were a shade or two darker.
Awwh, I was also hoping this would be more like Melange. Curse you, Illamasqua, for pulling out of Sephora! But it’s still really pretty.
This is a really fantastic colour. I want this, it’s really beautiful. Thanks so much for reviewing it!
I love the (as Sunny says) aged copper look of this. However…verdigris is an awesome colour on the domed spires of Dresden, but I have the feeling it would look very sickly indeed on my vampire hands… 😛 A feature nail, possibly? With an otherwise all-copper or all-dark green manicure?
What a pretty, unique shade! I’d give it a try!
This shade is so pretty, and I love Butter London nail polishes. So I will be adding this to my wish list.
One of my fave BL shades!
I just love this color! The copper really makes it unique
I’m really happy to see this nail polish. I’ve been ogling Illamasqua’s Melange since your review, Christine, but Illamasqua isn’t available where I live. Butter London is, so I might pick this up. It’s also slightly cheaper than Melange, and eons cheaper than the Louboutin atrocity 😉
