Bobbi Brown Coral Shimmer Blush Review, Photos, Swatches

Bobbi Brown Coral Shimmer Blush ($25.00 for 0.14 oz.) is described as a “soft coral.” It’s a medium-dark, orange-coral with gold shimmer. Burberry Blossom is similar but more matte, slightly more orange. MAC Supercontinental is pinker and a smidgen lighter. Tom Ford Lovelust is lighter and more shimmery. Chanel Tweed Brun Rose is lighter and less red.

It’s not too red, but if you have natural pink tones in your coloring, it might not be the best coral (you might look for something with a stronger peach hue). The texture is soft but not powdery, dry but not stiff.  It blends easily and evenly, and it packs plenty of color payoff. You don’t have to worry about having to use the lightest hand with the most feathery blush to apply it, but you can easily go from sheer to dramatic without having to pile on the product. When I tested the shade, Coral lasted eight hours without fading.

This is pretty but I actually just ordered Burberry Blossom – it’s part of my Nordstrom Trend Show order that I will get this weekend. I’m really hoping it’s not too orange for me.

Me, too 🙂 I was hesitating after your review, I thought it’d be too orange, but I talked to the SA when I made my pre-order and she convinced me it was wearable. Fortunately I can return it if I hate it.

Wow, what a lovely surprise to see this review. I was looking at this exact blush JUST last week but couldn’t decide between this and Nectar, so I went home to try to look up reviews. There weren’t many on either, so I decided to ponder it. Given these swatches, I think Coral may not work as well on me as the Nectar and Almond blushes that I’ve been contemplating, so thanks, Christine, for saving me money as always!

You know, ever since you posted that PR/Photo release for the new Bobbi Brown Uber collection, I’ve suddenly become incredibly obsessed with a line that I rarely considered before (due to all the neutrals & bad work-related associations). For someone utterly uninterested in neutrals, it’s a bit odd what a turn-around I’ve done, especially as it is SOLELY because of one posting you had! I went out and bought 4 variations of “nude” lipsticks last week and one neutral eyeshadow in a sudden obsession with neutrals! (OT, I also never realised just how bright some of BB’s lipsticks are! Pleasant, happy surprise.) Anyway, I’ve definitely got my eye on a lot of stuff in her permanent line, especially her neutral, nude lipsticks. She has some in shades identical to MAC’s Mehr and Yash which may work better on me texturally. Now, I just need to winnow down a list of about 10 diff. (and, yet, somehow, similarly named) lipsticks. LOL. I really hope you will continue to review Bobbi Brown if you get the opportunity!

The vast range is a definite difference from back when I bought her lipsticks and everything was in varying shades of beige-brown! As for what I bought this time, the matte eyeshadow (“Steel”) is okay. A solid workhorse for me, given how much I wear grey. It’s super pigmented (for Bobbi Brown) but a bit powdery and we’ll see how long the wear is after a few tests. It’s not really…. special, I’m afraid to say, but then workhorses and staples rarely are. I think I’m going to look into her slightly more shimmery stuff. The new glittery eyeshadows in the Uber collection were spectacular…. but only to look at. As one of your reviews for a similar glittery BB eyeshadow noted, it’s all in a clear base which… isn’t ideal, imo.

One thing that *IS* fabulous though: the High Shimmer Lip Gloss (in Midnight Violet) that I bought. And you know how much I normally HATE lip glosses!! Not only did I like it, I loved it. Plus, it is SOOO much nicer than the Dior Addict lip glosses I tried. In fact, I am actually going to buy more in the Black Ruby & Plum Gold shades. You’re an unbelievable temptress, Christine! You’re like the Borg of Lipglosses: “Resistance is Futile. YOU WILL SUBMIT!” 😉 lol. Turned my whole “matte-lipsticks-only” world view totally UPSIDE DOWN!!

It is so funny that you’re not into lipgloss and you love MATTE lipstick… not just lipstick but MATTE, and you fall in love with one of the sparkliest glosses on the planet. I am pleased 🙂

I like the metallic range – I can’t remember what’s permanent or what’s available… I know she tends to put out a few around the holidays as well. They’re shimmery but not too frosted and usually have good color payoff.

HA! I’m a Libra with Scorpio Rising/controlling. Which pretty much means that I swing to total extremes and then get utterly obsessed/fixated once I’m there. No middle of the road over here. It’s either going to be the mattest-matte-matte or, by Jove, it’s going to be so sparkly, NASA will see it from Mars! It’s pretty much that polar-opposites way (w/ Love-or-Hate) for everything in my life. *grin*

That’s really pretty. I actually would give the packaging a lower score. There something really cheap looking about Bobbi Brown blush packaging. It feels really filmy to me too. I also find the pan kind of small and difficult to swirl the blush brush in.

Beautiful color but whenever I wear it my skin turns into an oil slick. So I tried all the mattifying ways of wearing it but nope I just keeping getting oily with it on. I love this color !

Looks great on you! Question tho – how do you keep your blush from caking at the end of the day? I find that after applying blush using a stipling brush, the effect is natural and “well-absorbed” on my cheeks but around 6 hours after, I see it caking around my cheeks. 🙁

From the same line, there is an amazing shimmer blush called “Pink Coral”, which I have used for years. May be my favourite blusher, ever. I am really tempted by this one, too. I wished I knew how it compared to Apricot and Coral and Nectar from her regular blushline. So hard to decide!
