Bobbi Brown Bikini Bronze Beach Shimmer Powder Review, Photos, Swatches
Bobbi Brown Bikini Bronze Beach Shimmer Powder
Bobbi Brown Bikini Bronze Beach Shimmer Powder ($45.00 for 0.24 oz.) is a muted, medium-dark bronzy brown with subtle grayish tones and a sparkling, metallic sheen. By Terry Light & Tan Vibes #1 (LE, ) is lighter, warmer (85% similar). ColourPop The Golden Child (LE, $8.00) is more shimmery, lighter, cooler (90% similar). Bobbi Brown Bahama (LE, $38.00) is darker, cooler (85% similar). MAC Superb (P, $42.00) is more shimmery, warmer (90% similar). See comparison swatches / view dupes side-by-side.
It’s a new, limited edition formula/product for summer, which is supposed to give the “warmth and radiance of a natural tan.” It is heavily scented (and on purpose) with Bobbi Brown’s Beach scent, described as “notes of jasmine, sea spray, and mandarin.” There’s a lot of powderiness to the scent, which isn’t prevalent in the Beach fragrance I have from a few years ago. Unknown to me when I originally swatched it, the product is intended for decolletage, shoulders, and body, though for a body product, it is actually smaller than I would have expected–it is more in line with a typical face bronzer. The texture is firmer with a high amount of sparkle, so I can definitely see why it is more suitable to body bronzing than on the face. Nevertheless, it’s easier to show the result/coloring on the face, but rest assured I tested it on face and body, and once blended out, it doesn’t read nearly as sparkly as I anticipated–probably has to do with that stiffer texture. It blended out decently but could have been easier to work with. It lasted for eight hours before it started to fade, and if I had clothes that rubbed against the powder at all, it was much quicker to fade and isn’t transfer-proof at all.
The packaging might be the worst I’ve seen from Bobbi Brown; it is very, very thin, flimsy plastic–it felt more like the kind of temporary packaging you’d get when buying a refill pan or the like. There’s just no substance to it, and I was quite taken aback by it since it’s not an issue I’ve encountered with Bobbi Brown in the past.

The packaging reminds me of the original blush packaging from the 1990s. That wasn’t flimsy but the gold always wore off.
I was SO caught by surprise on how thin the lid was!
Looks stunning in the pan but i dont really use bodybronzers/highligters and i wasnt to fond of how it looked applied on the face..
Easy skip!
Ummmm to be $45 and the caliber of Bobbi B it shouldn’t have sub par packaging **turns up nose** but it IS gorgeous **turns nose down to sniff beach scent but continues to strike against packaging**
lol! At the price point, and given that Bobbi Brown’s line hasn’t had this issue (that I can recall), it doesn’t seem justified.
Love your look, everything looks so glowy! Since I’m not really into face or body bronzers, this is a skip for me, but kind of disappointed that for $45, the packaging is so flimsy. Part of the justification for paying $45 is fancy, pretty packaging, but if it’s not there, at least they should knock the price down to account for the cheapie packaging.
I was so bummed about the packaging. It was the kind of feel that is a real turn-off, I think 🙁
I love the color. Just perfect on you. I saw this in Sephora and thought it looked pretty but didn’t swatch it. The bronzer on my to-buy list is Too Faced Pink Leopard. And maybe one of the new ones by UD, but they weren’t stocked in that store.
Thank you, Ginny! 🙂
It’s actually really pretty on your face. I wouldn’t want to use it on my body, though. I hate trying to get makeup out of my clothing with a passion! So, face for me. This actually reminded me of a loose bronzer I owned many years ago. I think it’s still floating around here somewhere, lol.
Haha, I hear that, Nancy! I am particularly TERRIBLE at getting stains out, too, so no makeup on clothes please.
It looks a lovely bronzey colour, but the packaging sounds like a big letdown!
It really was!
I quite like this.
I love the color!
I’m kind of digging it.
Awesome!
Bobbi Brown is an expensive brand, so you would expect sturdier and more appealing packaging. I think things have changed there since she was taken over a few years ago. A lovely powder, but I wouldn’t rave about it.
Exactly!
It looks like a good powder but based on what you’re saying about the packaging… welll then! That’s just no good!
The packaging makes me want to skip 🙁
I’m really surprised at the packaging as BB has refreshed her black compacts with a new logo and introduced cream-colored compacts, so there’s been a focus on packaging that didn’t make its way to this product. Too bad. Looks gorgeous on you, Christine.
I was surprised, too, Tracey!
Shame the packaging is so flimsy… because I do like how this looks on you.
I agree 🙁
I like that it’s a tawny, not orange bronzer, but too much sparkle for me. The whole look you created is marvelous! I like that you’ve been revisiting the original UD Naked palette. I don’t have that one, but you’re making me reconsider. Darn your hide. ?
Awww!
Pretty! But I’m good on highlighers.
Phew 🙂
Sturdy packaging is more important to consumers than adding an unnecessary fragrance, which could be irritating to skin. I get she wants to tie in with her fragrance, but not a super idea for a face product. Maybe that’s because it is primarily intended to be a body product. Quite the chameleon, this one. At least it’s not heavily fragranced eyeshadow. There is no doubt that the shade is lovely and she dropped just a tad of cool in there, which makes it more universal. With so many racy names out there these days, bikini is a bit double entendre. As an adjective, I don’t think above the neck.. I’ve been urban dictionaried!
I didn’t really READ it prior to buying it, so I was surprised by the scent initially, lol!
