Bite Beauty Marzipan & Moka Butter Cream Lipsticks Reviews, Photos, Swatches
Bite Beauty Marzipan Butter Cream Lipstick
Bite Beauty Marzipan Butter Cream Lipstick ($28.00 for 0.15 oz.) is described as a “milky chocolate.” It’s a muted, medium-dark brown with subtle rose and caramel tones. It was richly pigmented with a smooth, creamy consistency that gave it a luminous finish. The texture was slightly thicker than the average lipstick but never felt heavy. The color lasted well for five hours and was hydrating over time. NARS Femme Fleur (LE, $26.00) is darker, redder, brighter. Guerlain Gaetane (16) (P, $51.00) is brighter, redder. Maybelline Maple Kiss (925) (P, $7.49) is similar. NARS Het Loo (P, $25.00) is more matte, browner. MAC Glamour Era (P, $22.00) is more matte, slightly pinker. MAC Mocha (P, $16.00) is more matte. Bite Beauty Moka Butter Cream Lipstick ($28.00 for 0.15 oz.) is described as a “warm dark brown.” It’s a medium-dark, coral-brown with warm, rosy tones and a glossy finish. It had mostly opaque pigmentation, though the texture had more slip so it didn’t apply as evenly as Marzipan, but the deeper coloring helped to disguise streaks. It lasted for four and a half hours on me and was moisturizing while worn. Guerlain Gaetane (16) (P, $51.00) is slightly darker. Revlon Sandstorm (LE, $7.99) is shimmery. Maybelline Maple Kiss (925) (P, $7.49) is darker, browner. Givenchy Brun Cachemire (104) (P, $36.00) is lighter, more matte. MAC Glamour Era (P, $22.00) is more matte, lighter. I really like the shades in this lipstick line, so many earthy “natural” kind of shades. I’ve been looking to replace my mac mocha lipstick (which ended up tragically losing its short life in the washing machine…), so marzipan is totally going on my list!
Poor Mocha!
Not my colors (too peachy brown for my skintone), but looks very lovely on you!
Thanks, Katherine!
I love Bite, and I love the idea of these, but all of them so far seem to lean warm and either muted or brown, not very flattering shades for me, considering that they’re supposed to be in ‘universal nude and neutral shades’! I wonder which would be best to try for someone who looks best in cool, bright lip colors and looks washed-out/sick/dead/un-dead in most ‘nude’ shades. Maybe Rosewood? At least it wouldn’t be too light for me. Occasionally a nude shade will surprise me and work, like Make Up For Ever Rouge Artist Natural in N4. But I think that might work because it lets a bit of my natural lip color come through.
Hopefully they’ll expand!
Marzipan reminds me of a more neutral version of NARS Jane 🙂 I might look into it! Christine, I’ve heard a lot of complaints about this formula being creamy to the point of being messy and it smearing all over the place. Did you have problems with that?
Do these differ in price from their regular lipsticks?
I’ve mentioned that some have more slip than others, but I don’t find they slip all over or smear. They’re not that creamy – YSL Rouge Volupte is far creamier.
I sooo want to like these! But I just can’t get over that chopped off part! I feel like I am getting half a lipstick for $28! |side eye|
The quantity is exactly the same as their other lipsticks, just FYI 🙂 It is a $4 price increase from their Luminous Creme range, but the quantity is the same.
The colors are so beautiful! Bite needs to have a set of minis for this new collection of colors. After watching their video on why the tops are cut off, i will be trying this with some of my collection.
A set would be cool!
Marzipan looks really pretty on you Christine!
Thanks, Dani!
loving Moka butter shade a lot
I like how it is bright without being TOO bright!
Lovely! I really like this range, the colors really look great.
I just wish they had some cooler options!
I like the looks of these but love your eye look. I don’t see the section that breaks down what you’re wearing (which can be completely all me). I especially like the look of these lip colors with the almost copper liner you have on the lower lash. However, for me personally, I’m not sold on particular formula since their regular range performs so well. My neutral leaning coloring needs warmer colors on my entire face to wear these types of lip colors so I tend to not have many. I keep telling myself I don’t need any more lip products.
Here you go: On face: Cover Girl Ready, Set, Gorgeous Foundation, NYX Soft Spoken, NYX Taupe. On eyes: ColourPop Rebound Set, Sephora Suntan Eyeliner.
So pretty. This line has had such gorgeous shades.
It does! I just hope they’ll add some cooler toned ones into it.
I am really liking these. But, I feel like they all are pretty similar looking and that they should have been released in early fall due to the lip conditioning aspect and the deeper tones. I may try one eventually. but, they aren’t hitting the top of my wish list at the moment. I do hope the bring some brighter colors out for Spring and Summer. I am glad they are permanent!
There is definitely some overlap, but my guess is that the undertone/nuance will be what makes them holy grail shades for different skin tones – though they need cooler toned options.
Ok. you are right! I just re-read the description stating that it is meant to be basically enhance one’s natural lip color. So, now these shades and the overlap makes sense. But, yeah, a couple more cools added may help the fair gals out. I considered my natural lip hue and my eye directly went to Hazelnut. That would probably be MLBB shade and Pecan a nice subtle nude.I am liking these. The reviews on Sephora are one end to the other, as usual. Most complaining about the shape and a few misunderstanding about the product size. I may have to try one of these out soon. I don”t find with nudish colors that a super precise application is very necessary and I don’t think it would be overly difficult considering that before I started reading this blog religiously, my lip routine consisted of primer, liner lipstick with a brush and sometimes a gloss. Now it’s ususally lipstick straight from the bullet and sometime a primer under, occassionaly a liner/gloss. You have shown me the good stuff girl and ruined me for all those less, lol! 🙂
lol! Awwww 🙂 I’m so glad I’ve been able to help you reduce your routine with better products!
The flat top is definitely gimmicky, but I don’t think it’s difficult to use – though if you have thin lips, it might be more challenging to use. It was more “Hm, this is different” than “How am I going to apply this?!” for me.
Hello 90’s!
But in a good way!
I like the look of both!
Happy to hear it 😀
I love these colors! I’m quite fair though, so I’m afraid they’d look too dark on me.
Hopefully they’ll launch more to cover the full spectrum!
Love the colours – they are the kind that I usually buy. And they look good on you Christine. However they are both very similar to each other, but I like the Moka Butter one better.
Thanks, Genevieve! I like how Moka is brightened a bit.
I love both shades and love your makeup in both pix. You look gorgeous!
Thank you, Allison!
Much as I personally find them tricky, I’m really pleased now to see brands seriously revisiting the brown lipstick! The overall finish on these two is so lovely and creamy. It will be interesting to see if they leave this as more of a ‘nude/brown’ lipstick line, or if they introduce other shades if the line proves popular…
I’d love to see some more plummy neutrals next!
Love these warm colors – you’re talking my language!
Yayyyy! 🙂
Christine, all of these look really lovely on you. Do you have a favorite? I’m really liking rosewood.
Hazelnut/Rosewood probably! 🙂 At least, color-wise!
Oh I love this color! It looks amazing on you.
Thanks, Jeanette!
I love the colors they chose for this line. I’m into the earthy brown-reds lately. I am definitely going to try one.
I love a good neutral!
i want them both .
i’ve been in a nude lip phase the past few weeks .
They’re nice!
Okay. First of all, the name Marzipan infuriates me. I finished pastry school, and Marzipan is faaaaar from that color! Marzipan is Almond Flour (finely ground almonds) and Powder sugar. It’s an alternative for Fondant in wedding cakes and desserts, far more yummier that fondant! From that you can imagine that it should be Cream-like color. Hahahahaha Secondly, these are too brown for my taste. But they look lovely on you, Christine! I envy you! So many odd colors that look good on you. Hahaha!❤
So few brands actually name and create colors that make sense, lol!
Haha! I remember the fuzz that Oxblood in Toledo made. Haha 🙂
Holy butt Christine, your eyes~! (* O *) Love that copper pop in the center of your lids!
Aw, thanks!
