Bite Beauty Lavender Luminous Creme Lipstick ($24.00 for 0.13 oz.) is described as a “vibrant orchid.” It’s a medium-dark, pink-purple with subtle, cool undertones and a luminous finish. This is one of the least pigmented lipsticks I’ve tried by Bite, and even the consistency is thinner and less creamy compared to other shades. It wore for three hours on me and was lightly hydrating. The formula has a slightly lemon/herbal scent to me but no discernible taste. MAC Snapdragon (LE, $16.00) is sheerer. NARS Villa Lante (LE, $25.00) is more matte. YSL Fetish Pink (8) (P, $34.00) is more opaque, lighter. MAC What a Feeling! (LE, $20.00) is sheerer. Too Faced Razzle Dazzle Rose (P, $21.00) is pinker. MAC Steady Going (LE, $16.00) is more matte, more opaque. Revlon Cupcake (P, $7.49) is cooler-toned. NARS Roman Holiday (P, $26.00) is lighter. Maybelline Pink Pop (P, $7.49) is more opaque, brighter. MAC Divine Choice (P, $22.00) is pinker. MAC Pink Popcorn (LE, $16.00) is more shimmery. See comparison swatches / view dupes.

Bite Beauty Violet Luminous Creme Lipstick ($24.00 for 0.13 oz.) is described as a “magenta violet.” It’s a bright, neon magenta fuchsia with cool, blue undertones and a luminous sheen. It had rich, fully opaque color coverage in a single pass. The consistency was creamy, comfortable to wear, and glided on without ever tugging on the lips. The formula was hydrating while worn, had a faint lemony/herbal scent, and lasted for six hours. It left behind a pinkish stain that lingered for another two hours or so. This is a shade that was unique years ago, but this year, we have seen many iterations. Sephora + Pantone Universe Radiant Rush (LE, $18.00) is more matte. Bite Beauty Moscato (P, $28.00) is brighter, lighter. Chanel La Diva (44) (P, $34.00) is more matte. NARS Full Frontal (LE, $26.00) is more muted. Maybelline Electric Fuchsia (LE, $7.49) is less magenta. MAC Dear Diary (LE, $18.00) is slightly darker, more matte. MAC Candy Yum Yum (P, $16.00) is pinker. Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics Nylon (P, $18.00) is brighter, lighter. See comparison swatches / view dupes.

I have it and really like it. It’s a really easy purple to wear – it doesn’t make as much of a statement, you know? But I tend to like my lipsticks on the sheerer side, anyway.

I have Violet and love it, but I also have several of the dupes you’ve listed for it. Glad to see I wasn’t the only one who was underwhelmed by Lavender!

Alla Avatar

Violet looks great on you! It’s one of my favourite lipsticks, and I’m so glad to see it’s permanent, not LE (there was confusion about that when it first came out; nobody at Sephora could say for sure).

I actually like Lavender because it is not so pigmented. I saw a Sephora SA wore it and it looked a bit greyish on her lips. Once she showed me how Lavender swatched, I immediately got it since I couldn’t pull off full-on/vibrant lavender.

It varies. I typically wear it with a more neutral eye, MAC Full of Joy blush and luminous foundation (or bb creme/tinted moisturizer). But I’ve gone nuts before and paired it with a brighter eye for some drama. 😀

Boooo, I was so excited for lavender based on the name alone. Do you have any dupes for basically the purpl-y mauve colour it looks in the tube, Christine? <3

I absolutely ADORE Bite Beauty lipsticks (wish I didn’t love ’em quite so much but they’ve replaced so many other brands as my favourites). Neither of these colours is for me but I was just at Sephora today to get some SPF day moisturizer and put on Crimson (from the LE collection) then went for coffee, then to the gym and that stuff was still goin’ strong. Going back tomorrow or next week to pick up a tube!

It’s funny, Bite occasionally releases shades that are sheerer and quite different from their regular lipsticks. I found the same thing with Barolo, a darker shade. I didn’t mind it, but I wish that they had made a distinction in the formula name, since it’s clearly a different type of lipstick, like Mac with their Amplified Creme versus Lustre formulas.

Ooo, I’m glad I ended up getting the Violet/Palomino duo instead of Lavender. While Lavender’s shade looks quite nice, I expected something closer to the colour of what the bullet looks like and would have therefore been disappointed if I’d bought it.

Hm… I started to hyperventilate a bit when I saw the title (names of the shades), because, well, purple lipsticks 😉 Having read the post, I’m a little less excited though…

Lavender is very pretty on you, and I actually (like Melissa) don’t mind the sheerness of this lipstick…but it *isn’t* lavender. Now, lavender plants can be quite a warm purple, I’ll give them that, but…this isn’t purple enough….

Violet is a beautiful, creamy-looking cool, bold pink! *But* there is absolitely nothing ‘violet’ about it, which is a real shame… 🙁

So on the one hand, I approve of these lipsticks for what they are, but on the other hand, I want to bop someone at Bite on the head for those shade names! So conflicted, LOL!

I recently got the Palomino/Violet duo, and I am glad I did. It’s a great way to try out two colors (and let’s face it, Violet is less wearable for most people) without dropping a wad of cash. Violet looks better on me than I expected, but I’m still not sure if it’s going to be a “wearing out of the house” type color.
