Bite Beauty Holiday 2017 The Perfect Bite Set Review, Photos, Swatches
Holiday 2017
Bite Beauty Holiday 2017 The Perfect Bite Set ($25.00 for 0.20 oz.) is a limited edition, holiday gift set that features four, miniature-sized (about a third of a full-sized shade) Amuse Bouche Lipsticks housed in a ruby red, metallic tin. Long-time Bite fans may find that this set is too redundant compared to past years’ sets, though for those who are newer to the brand and/or formula, the set is a great way to try out the formula at a great price (less than the cost of one shade!). I definitely would love to see Bite explore more mini sets; like a cooler-toned set, warmer-toned set, or maybe by color family like a berry set, neutral set, and red set. The shades here were fairly consistent with their permanent counterparts, though I found Honeycomb to be ever-so-slightly less warm-toned.
Value
A full-sized Amuse Bouche Lipstick retails for $26.00 and contains 0.15 oz. or $173.33/oz. This set contains $34.67 worth of product.

Honeycomb
Honeycomb is a medium peach with warm, beige undertones and a satin sheen. It had opaque color payoff in a single layer with a lightweight, creamy texture that wasn’t too thick or too thin. The texture sat in my lip lines a bit and was less flattering compared to other shades when worn, though my lips (at the time of swatching) were far drier than normal, so that did not help (for comparison purposes). This shade wore well for four and a half hours and was moisturizing.

Formula Overview

Bite Beauty Amuse Bouche Lipstick ($26.00 for 0.15 oz.) is supposed to have “bold, creamy color” with “extreme moisture, soft texture, and creamy wear.” The majority of the range is very pigmented–typically opaque with one pass–with a few shades being semi-opaque but usually buildable.
The consistency is very lightly creamy to lightly creamy with some shades requiring light-medium pressure and can pull the lip a bit when gliding it across the lips, though the color doesn’t appear ragged and the bullet itself doesn’t feel stiff (while other shades applied without tugging, so check individual shade reviews!) The majority of the shades I’ve tested have been lightly hydrating to non-drying and fairly comfortable to wear for the long-haul. They have a herbal, lemony scent but no discernible taste. They wear longer than average, from four to eight hours, depending on the intensity and propensity of the shade to stain.

Sugarcane
Sugarcane is a soft, light-medium pink with warm, yellow undertones and a satin finish. It had rich color coverage in a single layer, which went on evenly and did not streak, but there was a bit of color that pulled into my lip lines. This shade wore well for four hours and was comfortable to wear and hydrating over time.

Oh I love BITE and love mini sets, but the only color I like here is Rhubarb, and I already have it!
Exactly why they need more than one set!
My thoughts exactly!
I’d love to get a mini of Sugarcane, but I already own Rhubarb and Honeycomb from other past sets.
I’m not surprised! 🙁
Definitely agree with you that Bite would do well to offer more than one of these per holiday season. That said, I like the shades within this one. But probably *too* much, as I’ve got dupes. Not super close dupes, but yeah, I wear MAC Mehr pretty often. Cayenne looks enough like my assortment of orange-reds that I rock quite often during our 6-7 months warm/hot season.
It would be so cool if they did more than one set!
I have all of these but Honeycomb so this is going to be a total pass for me.
Easy skip 🙁
Rhubarb is one of my favorite shades from Bite. It pulls a little darker on my super pale skin but is a really nice fall color for me and since I have really pigmented lips, it is almost a MLBB for me.
Rhubarb is a lovely shade!
Love the Cayenne! Very Hollywood and SoCal.
It’s a pretty one!
I like picking up Bite’s sets every year but this has 2 shades that would be concealer hideous on me and 1 that’s just barely a shade lighter than my natural lip colour. I definitely hope to see them change things up, pale shades are just not flattering on darker skintones without extra products to “correct” them 🙁
Aww, darn!
I’m leaving this one because I own 2 of the colors and the other 2 would’t work for me.
Love – & totally agree with – Yount ideas for other offerings!
I’m usually excited to grab these right away but as many others are saying this one is regrettably an easy no for me. I already have – & love – Honeycomb & Rhubarb & know that I’d rarely of ever wear Cayenne; I’m certainly not purchasing it for one shade, & TBH I’m not even sure if Sugarcane will work well for me! So….thinking I’ll instead pick out a new full-size shade that I know I’ll use & love as they are by far one of my top fave lipsticks.
I was initially thinking I might go for the Holiday LE Plum shade but per your review & swatches don’t think I’ll enjoy or use it enough to make the purchase worth it so thinking I’ll go for more of a staple shade instead…either a new-to-me shade or an upgrade from a mini that’s running low!
Thanks, as always, for the swatches & reviews!
I think that is a good call, Melissa – sets are great if you’ll use the shades, but if you already have some or won’t use the rest, then it starts losing its value, IMO!
