Bite Beauty Deconstructed Rose Lipstick ($28.00 for 0.15 oz.) is a recently released set of four shades (two included in this post, two I’ll review shortly!) “inspired by the ever-changing color of a rose.” They’re creamy, light-medium in weight, richly pigmented, hydrating, and wear well. The formula is rose-scented, but I didn’t have any issues with taste. In all honesty, the formula didn’t really seem any different from the Luminous Creme lipstick, but an attempt to read through the ingredient list on this one (which is difficult to read on this packaging), while it is similar to the Luminous Creme, doesn’t appear to be exactly the same.

Bite Beauty Centifolia Deconstructed Rose Lipstick ($28.00 for 0.15 oz.) is described as a “muted peach.” It’s a light-medium, muted peach-orange with warm undertones and a luminous sheen. It had rich, full color coverage that went on evenly and smoothly without gathering into the vertical lines of the lip. This shade wore well for four hours, which is about average, and it was the shortest-wearing of the four shades. Sephora Collection Samba (LE, $12.50) is brighter, warmer. Too Faced Melted Coral (P, $21.00) is brighter, lighter. Tom Ford Beauty Sweet Spot (05) (LE, $49.00) is sheerer. Givenchy Brun Createur (103) (P, $36.00) is darker, rosier. Givenchy Croisiere Coral (310) (LE, $36.00) is slightly more matte, darker. MAC Style Surge (P, $22.00) is a touch darker. MAC Razzledazzler (LE, $16.00) is lighter, sheerer. See comparison swatches / view dupes.

Bite Beauty Grandifolia Deconstructed Rose Lipstick ($28.00 for 0.15 oz.) is described as a “fiery red.” It’s a vibrant, orange-red with warm undertones and a luminous shine. The color payoff is intense–extremely rich and full coverage in a single pass. The color lasted for six hours and left behind a warm, reddish stain. Givenchy Carmin Escarpin (306) (P, $36.00) is similar. Dior Trafalgar (844) (P, $34.00) is more orange. MAC Dangerous (P, $16.00) is matte. Maybelline Infra-red (LE, $7.49) is very similar. Maybelline Neon Red (P, $7.49) is more orange. MAC Scarlet Ibis (LE, $16.00) is matte. Guerlain Genna (LE, $51.00) is a touch darker. Hourglass Raven (P, $28.00) is matte, brighter. Hi Christine!

I’m looking to get a new Bite lip product for summer. Which ones do you like best the lipsticks or the cashmere lip creams?

Bite Beauty Centifolia Deconstructed Rose Lipstick was so beautiful on you it almost matched your natural lip color, so lovely on your skintone too

I sadly have had to return my Bite lipsticks. They melt at a very low temperature and break. The MUA at Sephora said she stores her’s in the refrigerator, but I like to take in my purse. I live in a cold climate so I can’t imagine what would happen to these in Florida.

They break off at the end of the tube and squish against the tube when applying. As lovely as they are, they just became a huge mess and needed to be returned. 🙁

they just break off at the lipstick attachment. it’s especially a problem with their double sided ls that are very small. i usually don’t pull up my ls all the way up to prevent breakage when i apply them. but with double sided ones, they are small so you have to pull them all the way up.

so i won’t but buying anymore double sided ones. this, i might consider. i really do love the ls. but if i have to use a lip brush with a ls, then it never gets used. i am straight from the bullet kinda gal.

I’ve heard of them doing both, but what I’ve seen is them melting into goo. It’s, unsurprisingly, a really serious problem with the ones they make for you in the store. I just don’t ever carry them out of the house in warm weather, which kind of limits the amount of use I can get from them. Whenever there’s a shade match with one of the lip pencils, I grab the pencil instead!

I’ve seen that issue mentioned by other bloggers, which is too bad. I noticed both lipsticks in Christine’s photos do look a bit ‘sweaty’. The colors are beautiful, though!

I had the same problem with 2 I bought at the big S on the same day. Violet pencil + Zivoli. I have 18 others that have been fine, though. Maybe they do a bum batch every once in a while. The S cashier was grossed out, but didn’t seem surprised, when I returned them. The testers had been fine. I had thought Sephora had stored them in too warm a place. Maybe I’ll put them in the small bedroom fridge, which stores only creams + L/S, etc. I had melt, but no break. You couldn’t put ’em on! Tres ucky!

This post finally convinced me to pick up Sephora brand Samba lipstick. I wanted something a little brighter than Centifolia and Too Faced Melted Coral seems to be out of stock every time I go into Ulta! So I just ordered Samba online at Sephora with my Flash 2 day shipping. Can’t wait to try it!

Love these….on you and in general. I was passing them up but may now need to get a shade or two. Can’t wait to see your review on the other two shades!!! Which to get…?

WendyM Avatar

Centifolia has caught my eye, but I see Samba as a dupe which is on my wishlist… the brighter tone may work better for me. Maybe both .. evil laughter…

Hopefully, the nearby Sephora will have these in stock.

Also, I’m always super impressed with how you take your time to actually read and answer all of the comments/questions!

Hi Christine,

is the texture/pigmentation/creaminess of these (and the Luminous creme lipsticks) similar to that of the YSL Rouge Voluptes?
they are my all time fave

Maddy Avatar

Correct me if I’m wrong, these Bite lipsticks don’t have heaps of chemicals in them like other lipsticks, so their shelf life I am assuming would be shorter than the average lipstick shelf life. Is this correct? If so, do you know what the shelf life is?

These are beautiful on you! I want them all! I was wondering if you would happen to know how Grandifolia compared to Bite’s Zinfandel, though? I have that one. 🙂
