Bite Beauty Cafe/Pepper Luminous Creme Lipstick Duo
Bite Beauty Cafe/Pepper Luminous Creme Lipstick Duo ($14.00 for 0.10 oz.) is a dual-ended lipstick, so there is a lipstick shade on each side. For reference, Pepper is part of the permanent range. This duo features a lighter, warm pink paired with a darker, warm plum. It is sold out online presently but may still be available in stores.
Cafe is a light-medium pink with warm, yellow undertones and a soft sheen. It had mostly opaque color payoff with a lightweight, lightly creamy texture that applied without dragging on the lips. The texture seemed a smidgen thinner and more prone to emphasizing the natural texture–most Bite lipsticks make my lips look smoother, but this one didn’t. The color wore for three and a half hours on me but was hydrating. Bite Beauty Meringue (DC, $26.00) is lighter, brighter (90% similar). Makeup Geek Naive (P, $15.00) is lighter (95% similar). Estee Lauder Desirable (P, $32.00) is lighter (90% similar). Urban Decay Tantric (DC, $18.00) is cooler (90% similar). NARS Belle de Jour (P, $26.00) is less shimmery, darker, warmer (90% similar). Tom Ford Beauty Carriacou (LE, $55.00) is more shimmery, darker (90% similar). Tom Ford Beauty Addison (P, $36.00) is cooler (90% similar). Too Faced Birthday Suit (P, $22.00)(90% similar). Sephora To the Left (24) (P, $13.00) is less shimmery, lighter (90% similar). MAC Boca (LE, $19.00) is warmer, less glossy (90% similar). Pepper is a slightly muted, medium-dark rosy plum with soft, warm undertones and a light sheen. It had semi-opaque pigmentation with a creamy, light-to-medium-weight consistency that was comfortable to wear but didn’t slide around. This shade stayed on for four hours and was moisturizing while worn. Bite Beauty Hazelnut (DC, $28.00) is lighter (95% similar). NARS Anita (P, $34.00) is lighter (85% similar). Tarte TBT (P, $20.00) is warmer (90% similar). Bite Beauty Pepper (DC, $26.00) is darker, cooler (90% similar). Estee Lauder Irresistible (P, $32.00) is warmer (90% similar). While I really love, love , LOVE Pepper, Cafe is “meh” to me. It’s too light, and looks a bit sheer to my eye? Could be my imagination, still to light of a color, though.
This is definitely one of the lighter duos!
No, you are totally right. Cafe is in the rewind set, and it’s big meh, whereas Pepper is a total classic. It might run a tad light for you, but there are lighter days and deeper days. I’ve gifted Pepper, bec. It looks good on warm, cool skins and is somewhat of an mlbb color. It’s polished, without shouting lipstick! Personally, I think you’d be better off with a f/s Pepper. My duo has Apricot on the other end. That’s a better pairing, imo.
I’m on the ‘just say no’ to these duo lipstick products. While the colors are lovely – the amount of product that you pay for is minimal. Sorry Bite, no can do.
Monica.
You’re getting 0.10 oz. of product, and a normal Bite Lipstick is 0.15 oz. for $24. $140/oz. vs. $160/oz. – it is cheaper as a duo; you are getting more for your money by purchasing a duo than a single, so I’m not sure what you mean!
I love that you get more for your money with the duos!
Exactly! The duos are a great deal because you get two shades for just over half the price of one full size! I love these and wish they would put out a few more neutral duos!
Suuuuuper pretty! This one is definitely on my radar now.
I was eying Pepper, but since it’s lighter than Pink Truffle, and Pink Truffle is already a tad too light for me, I’m going to skip. With my dark hair and pale lips, I feel like I need some color on my lips, or I look washed out/sick.
I love Bite Beauty’s products, but a cool shade and a warm one in one component is a deal-breaker for me. I can’t wear warm shades, so I end up buying the cool ones I like. I wish they would make double cool/warm shade components.
I don’t care for Cafe. Pepper is nice. I’d pay $14 for it! Too bad they are gone! 🙁
This is the only duo I didn’t buy this year – because I also bought the set that had the full size Pepper in it. Now I see that was a good call! 😀
Why both are nice, I’m skipping this one. It’s a bit warm.
I got this and another duo when they had an additional 20% off sale items. Since these are now $10 apiece on sale (if you can still find them in the store), I actually got them for $8 each. At that price, it was really a tremendous value compared to buying full size and gave me a chance to try the formula. I think the formula is very nice. It was so smooth and pigmented. I didn’t find it really moisturizing or drying but I liked it. The only problem I didn’t foresee was that when I put on the usual amount, a couple of layers, Pepper looked very brown on me. It was like Cindy Crawford in 1990 brown and not flattering as I’d hoped. I love your pictures Christine, and I always check Temptalia when I buy lipstick. But I think the great lighting that makes the pictures so clear also make the colors seem a bit lighter than they might be in real life (natural light).
$8! Very nice.
Now I wish I was 21 in the 90’s so I could wear allll the browns without getting weird looks 😀 preferably in the US, not here. I do wear some rosy ones like this one now 😀 and browner 🙂 If I ever get the chance, I may try these Bite ones because moisture is a huge plus.
I was 21 in 1997. I wore a lot of brownish lipsticks. I could still wear Pepper now but it needs to be a really light layer, blotted and maybe topped with gloss. Otherwise, it just seems too brown. Cafe works better for me if by itself. I’m not much fairer than Christine (NW20) although I have much fuller lips. Maybe that’s the difference.
Pepper is gorgeous! It’s got exactly the colour and tone I’d love to have for a low key, easily maintained lipday. Very pretty.
Café isn’t as exciting, I agree with others here about that.
Pepper is a nice one!
I have the full size Pepper from the Bite Discovery Set. It is very nice!
Awesome!
