Bite Beauty #014, 016, 018 Lip Pencils Reviews, Photos, Swatches
#014
Bite Beauty #014 The Lip Pencil ($18.00 for 0.05 oz.) is a brighter, medium-dark plum with cooler undertones and a semi-matte finish. It had semi-opaque pigmentation that covered the lips with even color. The consistency was slightly soft, firm without being painful, and was forgiving enough that I was able to fill in most of my lips. It wore well for five and a half hours, and it was a touch drying toward the end. Bite Beauty recommends wearing this particular shade with Sake; I think it would work well with
Gin Fizz (brighter, lighter, cooler), Dragonfruit (brighter, deeper), Eggplant (darker), or Mauvember (darker) — see comparison swatches.
The Lip Pencil formula is supposed to have “perfect, allover, opaque lip coverage” with a lightweight feel. I think the formula worked exceptionally well for lining the edges of the lips and keeping color on longer and more within the lines (e.g. a lipstick feathers on its own wouldn’t feather when layered over one of the lip pencils). Some shades worked well for filling in the lips for all over color, but some applied more unevenly or were less comfortable to fill in with. The consistency was soft, just barely creamy–almost more velvety than creamy–and oddly spreadable, as I found the best way to “even” out the coverage was to press my lips together, and while there was a touch of tackiness, the color almost always appeared more even after that than if I kept trying to maneuver and push the color around with the pencil itself. They do feel lightweight, and they lasted anywhere from five to six hours on their own. They weren’t spectacularly long-wearing as a standalone lip product, but they extended the wear of lipsticks by two to four hours.

#016
Bite Beauty #016 The Lip Pencil ($18.00 for 0.05 oz.) is a muted, medium-dark plum with strong, warm undertones and a semi-matte finish. It had semi-opaque, buildable color payoff with a soft, velvety texture that glided on with only a bit of tugging when I went to fill in my lips. It was more comfortable to apply along the edges of the lips, though. The lip pencil lasted for six hours on its own, and it was just a touch drying at the end. Bite Beauty recommends wearing this particular shade with Pepper, Chai, or Rhubarb; I think it would work well with Rhubarb (brighter) or Pepper (warmer) — see comparison swatches.

#018
Bite Beauty #018 The Lip Pencil ($18.00 for 0.05 oz.) is a muted, medium-dark plummy brown with warm undertones and a matte finish. It had nearly opaque pigmentation that applied evenly and smoothly. The consistency was thin, clingy but not actually drying or uncomfortable to wear, and soft enough that it spread fairly easily without tugging on the lips for full-color application. This shade stayed on for six hours on its own, and it was neither drying nor hydrating over time. Bite Beauty recommends wearing this particular shade with Honeycomb; I think it would work well with Pepper (slightly cooler), Chai (brighter), Verbena (brighter), Sweet Cream (lighter, brighter), or Rhubarb (cooler) — see comparison swatches.

I think number #018 is something I’d like to pick up next! I quite love this formula!
Yay! 🙂
#014looks like it could be very useful in muting a very vivid purplish lipstick like Heroine or Bittersweet, if one wanted to? I kinda like it! My usual liners for purple lippys is Nyx Prune or Purple Rain (I absolutely adore Nyx’s Slim Lip Pencils!). Or UD Pandemonium, if I want to make it cooler toned and more intense.
It could work for that way! I think if the lipstick was higher coverage that it would just cover it, though.
16 and 18 are my picks here!!
You know I love me some plummy/brown shades! 😀
#16 is my fave out of this crop.
