I’m pleased to report that I’ve now reviewed all of the new (and reformulated) shades in the NARS Sheer Lipstick ($26.00 for 0.12 oz.) range. There are 20 shades, which are listed from best to worst below. There’s a myriad of ratings in this set, and for some shades, they were “too pigmented” relative to how they were described (sheer)–like Dolce Vita and Tanganyka.

What to Know About NARS Lipsticks, Sheer Finish

The sheer finish had coverage that ranged from semi-sheer to true medium coverage but most had some translucency to them, which gave them a sheerer finish. I found most of the shades I tried were buildable to some degree. The texture was a bit firmer, but they felt more emollient and “melted” a bit more against my lips than I recall the original line of lipsticks doing. Some shades applied well with even application and were flattering on, but there were a few that sank more noticeably into my lip lines. This finish tended to wear between three and five hours.

Please keep discussion on-topic, and if you have general feedback, a product review request, an off-topic question, or need technical support, please contact us!

Please help us streamline the comments' section and be more efficient: double-check the post above for more basic information like pricing, availability, and so on to make sure your question wasn't answered already. Comments alerting us to typos or small errors in the post are appreciated (!) but will typically be removed after errors are fixed (unless a response is needed).

We appreciate enthusiasm for new releases but ask readers to please hold questions regarding if/when a review will be posted as we can't commit to or guarantee product reviews. We don't want to set expectations and then disappoint readers as even products that are swatched don't always end up being reviewed due to time constraints and changes in priorities! Thank you for understanding!

I came *this* close to buying Tanganyka just a few minutes ago! Talked myself out of until October…it would have looked great with what I DID buy, haha 😉

Yes, Tanganyka is my favorite out of these shades and I was hoping to see them at the Sephora inside JC Penny’s in Kalispell, today but they didn’t have them. They did have all of the Kaja stacks in stock and I was able to test them and ended up getting two so trip wasn’t a total waste. They also had the KVD Current Crush Creamfoil Eye shadows in Crystal Rose and Silver Chrome which are the two new LE shades. I have not been supporting KVD and really didn’t have any intentions of even looking at these two and then they were on an end cap and I honestly didn’t know they were KVD. The testers had the lids open and I just ran my finger over them and new I was buying them. Then the shoe dropped and I realized they were KVD. For anyone not boycotting, they are gorgeous.
