Beauty Discovery: This was new to me, though I’m sure many people already know it. I recently opened my MAC Blot Powder compact to find that the powder had broken. After doing a little online research, I found a super simple trick that works perfectly. I scraped out all of the powder into a small ziploc bag and sealed it, then crushed it into a fine powder. I poured it back into the compact and spread it out evenly. I covered it with a tissue and pressed it until it became solid. Some websites say to add water, but this is not necessary. I’ve been carrying this re-pressed powder in my bag for a couple of weeks and it is still solid!
Your skin tone/coloring: Under my name; magenta/red hair; hazel/green eyes.
Favorite look from the week: I only wore makeup twice this week and didn’t do anything too complex. I liked how my eyes turned out using two bronzers from Revolution Beauty Praline Chocolate Cheek Palette. EYES — TFSI. Praline (matte bronzer, lids) and Temper (very shimmery bronzer, crease). Fondant (frosty white highlighter, inner corner). UD 24/7 Eye Pencil in Perversion (upper waterline). UD Perversion Mascara. LIPS — MAC Lipstick in S’sexy. FACE — NYX Angel Veil, BH Cosmetics Naturally Flawless Foundation in Ivory, RCMA No Color Powder, Sephora Tranquil (contour), theBalm Balm Desert (cheeks, hairline, a touch on the chin), e.l.f. Blush in Gotta Glow (HL), and e.l.f. Original Mist & Set.
Your most used product this week: My usual dailies
Any beauty discoveries (new or old): My favorite NYX green CC cream was discontinued, and the green NYX Color Correcting Primer sucks. So I’m on a mission to find an affordable replacement I like before I run out of backups.
I got the Catrice Correct My Red Prime & Fine Anti-Red Base. It’s OK, but I don’t think I’d repurchase. It’s very liquid, and the tube wants to squeeze out way too much product. It surprised me by being bright teal! It works OK. It neutralizes my cheeks most days, but I have to do 2 or 3 layers on my nose sometimes. It dries down quickly and layers well, but I want something I don’t have to layer. I’m try mixing it with my foundation and seeing if it covers better.
I’ve also been trying e.l.f. Flawless Finish Foundation in Pearl. It’s one of the newer shades, and is for fair with neutral undertones. It looks fine on me, but I think the Light Ivory (fair with golden undertones) I’d been wearing is a better match for summer. I’m thinking Pearl will be better for Fall and Winter, when I lose that slightly golden tone on my face.
Your skin tone/coloring: fair, cool
Favorite look from the week: I used an oldie but goodie – the bareMinerals Power Neutral palette (how old is THAT?) – I can’t even remember which shades I used but it might have been Moneymaker and Schmooze), MAC Into the Pink Extra Dimension blush, Smashbox Red Rage lipstick, Sephora Cappuccino eyeliner. I liked the look and the lighter blush just felt right for the hot days we’ve been having.
Your most used product this week: Sephora Cappuccino liner and Smashbox Red Rage lippie
Any beauty discoveries (new or old): “rediscovering” that bareMinerals palette has been a nice experience
Skin tone: Under my name.
Favorite look: So, this week I pretty much used the Melt Impulsive palette everyday. My favorite look was using the the shade Boss Lady in the crease, Cross Faded over the mobile lid, Poppin Bottles for inner corner highlight and a matte off-white shade from the Pony Glam palette under the brow bone. For my brows I used the MAC Brow Pen in Fling. I tightlined using MJ Blacquer and left the lower lash line alone. I had ordered the Essence Lash Princess False Lash Effect mascara along with the new Revlon mascara because Taylor has been raving about the combination and they looked amazing on her. Really lengthened and volumized her lashes. I am a bit of a mascara whore and have been known to use 2,3, or even 4 mascara’s. Sadly, this combo didn’t work for me. Actually, they worked beautifully and they gave me the most beautiful, long, fluffy, separated lashes that immediately gave me raccoon eyes starting at about the 2 hour mark and that was not putting anything on my bottom lashes. The upper lash colour transferred to my hood and about 3/4 of an inch under my bottom lashes. No bueno!! So the next day I tried adding my waterproof Buxom over the top. Same outcome. Then I put the Buxom on first and then the other two and still raccoon. So, for now I am giving up. For blush I used Dior 999 which has been my go-to for about a month now. I just love it but have to be very light handed. It is really pigmented. I used Ofra Star Island highlighter. For lips I wore Charlotte Tilbury The Queen, which I have been using a lot lately. I go through phases where I will use one of the CT lippies and then that is all I wear until it just gets so boring I have to change, LOL! Finished off with Guerlain Meteorites in 02 Claire and spray of MAC Fix +.
New beauty discoveries: Did anyone else watch Lisa Eldridges video using Chaos Cosmetics shadows? Oh my stars, if I wasn’t 65 I would have ordered them all. I still might order one to try out. The flash on them is spectacular. Beside being 65 I have hooded lids so probably wouldn’t get the same effect but they are gorgeous. I am thinking about a couple of the blush/highlighter shades for that “beam me up Scotty” shine!!
