Coloring: Under my name. Green eyes, s&p hair
Favorite Look: EYES—Primed with MAC Paint Pot in Soft Ochre and set with Urban Decay Foxy eyeshadow. From the Colourpop Zodiac palette: Libra as transition shade, Cancer on lid, Scorpio to darken outer crease. I used two Urban Decay 24/7 Glide-On Eyeliners: First, Torch smudged under the outer half of lower lashes, then Desperation tightlined on outer third of lash line. Tarte Lights Camera Lashes mascara.
FACE—Estée Lauder Double Wear Makeup in Ecru, Lancôme Effacernes Waterproof Concealer in Light Buff, Chanel Joues Contraste Blush in Pink Explosion, RCMA No Color Powder.
LIPS—YSL Rouge Volupte Shine Lipstick in #89
Most Used Products: Colourpop Precision Brow Colour, MAC Paint Pot in Soft Ochre set with Urban Decay Foxy eyeshadow, Estée Lauder Double Wear Makeup, Lancôme Effacernes Waterproof Concealer, RCMA No Color Powder.
Beauty Discovery: The Love Me formula might be my favorite of all of MAC’s formulas (at least based on the one shade I own). At first, it seems like it’s going to be as slippery as their Lustre formula, but it stays on my lips for hours without feathering, fading, or feeling dry…and that’s without primer or liner.
Your skin tone/coloring: light, MAC NC 15-20, med brown hair and eyes, oily skin
Favorite look from the week: it involved MAC Bamboo in the crease, NYX Glitter Primer on the eyelid. JD Glow Galaxy Eyeshadow in Fairy Acid on eyelid. Colourpop Super Shock Eyeshadow in Crimper in the inner corner. Marc Jacobs Velvet Noir Major Volume Mascara. Origins Pinch Your Cheeks Blush in Rose Dust. Pixi Rose Lip Treatment #1 Rose
Your most used product this week: Smashbox Photo Finish Anti Shine Base Primer. Maybelline Instant Age Rewind Neutralizer Concealer. MUR Vivid Baked Highlighter in Matte Lights. Bare Minerals Mineral Veil Setting Powder. MAC Veluxe Brow Pencil in Fling. Benefit Rollerlash mascara. Marc Jacobs Velvet Noir Major Volume Mascara. MAC Pro Longwear Paint Pot in Soft Ochre. Origins Pinch Your Cheeks Blush in Rose Dust. Revlon Gloss Stick in Blossoming Coral. Pixi Rose Lip Treatment #1 Rose. Wet n Wild Coloricon Eyeshadow in Creme Brulee. MAC Bamboo
Any beauty discoveries (new or old): I got my first JD Glow Galaxy Eyeshadows and my Colourpop Strawberry Shake collection order. Got new makeup to play !
Fairy Acid looks beautiful! I’ve never tried anything from that company. I’ll have to check them out further.
I tried them bc “small Youtube” claims they are the best shimmery eyeshadows and the closest “dupes” to PML special shades. I don’t own a Lg PML palette so I cannot compare but they are pretty and highly reflective. You do need a good glitter primer but no biggie. And with your first purchase and if you sign up to their newsletter, you get $10 off a purchase of $30. They ship pretty fast too:)
Thanks for the info! Glitter primer is no biggie. They’re definitely going on my “to try” list.
I don’t know how JD Glow does it… I recently got a couple of their multichromes (Umm… and Alot if you’re interested) and they are INSANE. I’ve never seen duochromes/multichromes as shiny and reflective as these.
Guess what my first order will be? lol
Your skin tone/coloring: light to medium with yellow undertones, MAC NC 23ish, hazel eyes, sandy brown hair
Favorite look from the week: Tom Ford White Suede quad, Charlotte Tilbury Pillow Talk
Your most used product this week: Pat McGrath glosses
Any beauty discoveries (new or old):
1) I have a new HG foundation: Smith and Cult Veiled Threat. I thought it would be Pat McGrath, but I like S&C better.
2) I like my RCMA setting powder and MAC Patrick’s Powder better than I do Pat McGrath’s for everyday wear BUT, if I’m ever going somewhere and need my face to stay put, I now have a powder for that. This is bulletproof ironclad matte finish for me. I buff with Meteorites for finishing at the end but it doesn’t give me that melded look like it does with my other setting powders.
3) I was sent the wrong color setting powder by Pat McGrath and they are sending me a new one. I kept wondering why Light Medium powder was so dark and I turned it over and realized I was sent Medium. I’ve been cutting it and cutting it with RCMA! Fingers crossed for the new powder.
Your skin tone/coloring: By my name
Favorite look from the week: Kryolan Viva Brilliant Color in Lime on my lid, Nyx Prismatic Shadow in Mermaid in the inner corner, Nyx Tantilizing in the crease, softened with Melt Antique. Tightline with PMG ultra glide pencil in Black Coffee. Cover Girl Professional Super Thick Lash Waterproof Mascara in black. Blush was SG in Summer Love. No bronzer.
Your most used product this week: I used only waterproof mascara this week. My kitty died on Tuesday night and I am teary from time to time.
Any beauty discoveries (new or old): If I dampen my brush with setting spray, the shadow on my lids doesn’t travel up onto my browbone so much but I feel like it dulls the color a bit. My aging eyes can’t really handle shimmer on the crease and browbone although it looks okay on my mobile lid so it’s an issue when the shimmer travels.
I am sorry about your cat. My condolences ❤
Aww, so sorry about your kitty Lesley ((hugs))
Pet loss is the worst, so sorry. Been there so many times.
I’m sorry about your kitty! my condolences
Your skin tone/coloring: Under my name; magenta/red hair; hazel/green eyes.
Favorite look from the week: The fun one I did today using Apocalyptic Beauty’s LOTM Scarab Queen Collection. EYES — TFSI. ColourPop Paper Tiger (crease); Apocalyptic Beauty loose eyeshadows in Creepy Dust (outer edge of crease); Anubis (foiled on lids; lapis with gold flecks); Seth (patted on center of lids; yellow-orange gold metallic); and Khepri (brow bone, inner corner; light shimmery gold). NYX Black Liquid Liner (large wing on top lid). UD 24/7 Eye Pencil in Perversion (top and bottom waterlines) and Goddess (lower lash line, smuged out with NARS Dual-Intensity Eyeshadow in Giove). NYX Color Mascara in Blue over Medusa’s Makeup Witch Lash Mascara (black). BROWS — Powder only from e.l.f. Brow Kit in Medium. LIPS — ABH Matte Lipstick in Cobalt with Apocalyptic Beauty Lip Topper in Bastet (shimmery gold) on the center of the lips. CHEEKS — Milani Rose Powder Blush in Awakening Rose and Apocalyptic Beauty Highlighter in Constellations (sheer, shimmery gold with gold sparkles). FACE — Half NYX Angel Veil and half e.l.f Hydrating Face Primer; BH Cosmetics Naturally Flawless Foundation in Ivory; RCMA No Color Powder; Notoriously Morbid Contour in Necromancy; e.l.f. Blush in Gotta Glow (as HL); Apocalyptic Beauty Bad Ass Setting Spray in Lavender.
Your most used product this week: BareMinerals Complexion Rescue Tinted Hydrating Gel Cream in Opal + my dailies
Any beauty discoveries (new or old): 1) I love the quality of the Nomad palettes I got. Super-pigmented, and lovely colors. The Berlin Underground’s shades have more variation to them than they appear to in the pans. Tokyo Harajuko has excellent bright pastels. 2) Phyrra Nyx got me trying NYX Suede Matte and Pin-up Pout Lipsticks, and I’m really enjoying the shades. Her video swatches also made me spend too much on Geek Chic lipsticks, and I found out they’re made in the next town over from me. Supporting local small businesses is awesome! 3) Another friend was wearing some gorgeous Impulse Cosmetics liquid lipsticks, and I ended up ordering some of those. I’ve been eyeing the brand for awhile, so I can’t wait to try them.
Oh, lips were lined with NYX Suede Matte Liner in Jet Set.
About me: Mid-forties, light neutral leaning cool, normal to combination skin (dry around nostrils/mouth and under eyes), flakey from retinol (geez I hate this stuff it better be working), dewy in t-zone.
New discovery – I’m really enjoying the new UD Stay Naked foundation and the concealer much to my surprise. The foundation is one of those that on first application I was like ‘oh no’ and then after a few minutes it settles in and I’m like ‘oh yes’. The concealer also gives great coverage without being cakey and without making my undereyes look the Sahara.
Old rediscovery – MAC strobe cream. I feel like this is just one of those old standards that I forget about in my overly large collection but every time I use it I love it. I need to just pan it already. 🙂
Disappointment – I love the initial application and color of the Colourpop Color sticks but I get basically zero longevity out of them. I apply them, proceed with the rest of makeup and they just seem to be…gone.
Skin tone: Under my name.
Favorite look: Skin was my new favorite foundation, Dior Forever Skin Glow in shade 2N with Lancome Effacernes Waterproof concealer, Dior blush in 999, JCat powder foundation over my hyperpigmentation, Huda Loose Powder in Sugar Cookie, Guerlain Meteorites in Satin and MAC
Fix +.
Eyes were NYX Waterproof primer, Laura Mercier Caviar Stick in Cobblestone, a matte ivory from the Pony Glam palette on the brow bone, MAC Humid lightly over Cobbletone, MAC Brow Pen in Fling, Marc Jacobs Highline pencil in Blacquer and Buxom Volumizing Waterproof Mascara.
Lips were MAC Natural Born Leader
Most used products: All my base products. I am liking this base and have used it ever since I picked up the foundation.
Beauty discoveries: None this week.
Your skin tone/coloring: fair, cool
Favorite look from the week: Anyone remember Bare Minerals The Star Treatment palette? I have been using it most of this week – Carte Blanche to brighten my lids, Ritzy on the outer corner and crease. I’d forgotten what a lovely palette it is. NARS Mulholland Drive has seen a lot of use this week as well, alternated with Sephora’s Cappuccino pencil, Becca Foxglove blush, TooFaced Blur Powder and Smashbox Red Rage lipstick.
Your most used product this week: probably the Becca blush.
Any beauty discoveries (new or old): OLD – the Star Treatment palette. How I wish BM would bring back some of those “oldies but real goodies”. NEW – that Sephora is having its 20% off sale starting on the 19th (I’m glad I put off my visit the other day; I’ll wait and purchase the items I want for 20% off)
Your skin tone/coloring: Under my name!
Favorite look from the week: I went really minimalist yesterday with a medium coverage mineral foundation (Aromaleigh Gossamer), somewhat flushed cheeks (a highlighting blush — Aromaleigh “Flutter” — layered with a satin blush — Shiro “The Total Agony of Being In Love”), and my old standard of MAC Paint Pot in Groundworks in a halo effect on my eyes. I didn’t even use mascara, which left me feeling a bit naked, but it somehow worked with the rest of my look. Bare lips, of course.
Your most used product this week: base products aside, the real answer will always — ALWAYS! — be MAC Paint Pot in Groundworks, but since it would be boring for me to say the same thing every time, I’ll say Aromaleigh’s highlighter “Selene” (it’s been rainy and overcast most of the week, so a cooler color seemed appropriate).
Any beauty discoveries (new or old): I discovered that my skin has improved enough that I can now wear mineral foundations successfully. I tried many times before, years ago, but my face was always so flaky, dry, oily, tight, and textured, that I couldn’t make any of them do anything except make me look sooooo much worse. I’m happy about having this option, as it’s so much more subtle than standard foundation. Feeling really good about this.
Your skin tone/coloring: above with freckles, green/gray/blue eyes, warm brown hair.
Favorite look from the week: I did a bronzy eye, using my ND Biba palette and an Exquisite eyeshadow single called Venus Sunrise from Fyrinnae Cosmetics. Such a pretty eyeshadow; I love duochromes so much, especially unusual ones; paired with a warm blush, KVD Thunderstruck as my inner corner and face highlight, and Em Cosmetics True Gloss in Secret Blush. I really liked how it turned out!
Your most used product this week: My Missha M Perfect Cover BB Cream.
Any beauty discoveries… I’ve discovered that I enjoy a good sticky gloss. Not so sticky that I get strings whenever I part my lips, but if a gloss is a little sticky, then it stays in place and doesn’t spread outside my lip line very easily, and I really like that.
