Benefit Dallas Powder Blush (Mini) Review & Swatches (2020 Version)
Dallas (2020)
Benefit Dallas (2020) Powder Blush (Mini) ($17.00 for 0.12 oz.) is a light-medium peach with warm, orange undertones and a semi-matte finish. There was a faint hint of shimmer that gave it a more natural matte finish once applied and blended out, but it didn’t read shimmery on my skin. It had semi-opaque, buildable coverage with a soft, lightly powdery texture that sheered out a bit when applied to bare skin. It wore well for seven and a half hours before fading visibly. There was also a subtle, floral scent to the power.
It’s a new, updated take on “fan fave Dallas” that is now “slightly pinker” with a “hint of shimmer,” though I didn’t really get pink vibes from it. Not really sure how they got to that description; the last Dallas I have in my physical archives is darker, pinker, and more muted–more of a plummy brown than a warm peach.
It’s cool that Benefit wanted to update the formulas of their cult favorite product, but changing the shade significantly is a side-eye-worthy move. I can’t see the logic in it at all; it was a “fan fave” for a reason and probably for its color/finish. Why not re-release the original shade and extend the range by adding new shades altogether? It’s not a subtle tweak in shade at all. The full-sized/previous version of Dallas is not presently available on the brand’s website.

Pinker, not!
This used to be a bronzer/blush hybrid in my opinion. Now it’s just a ho-hum blush. ?
They ruined it. Your description of the original as a “plummy brown” is dead-on, Christine. It’s the perfect shade for continuing my light, cool-toned skin. This is just another peach blush now. Why???
There’s probably a good chance that this version is too light to work out for me. Wish that Benefit would have left Dallas as is, and just added this new shade with a new name like you had recommended. Two completely different shades.
I don’t get it. Are the full sized formulas being discontinued, or are they going to exist alongside these? With full sized being one formula/color and mini sized being another?
It seems even more bizarre to have a mini version offered… but being a different shade than the full-size, LOL.
So sad 🙁
I saw the rereleased Georgia this weekend in a palette at Ulta- the original was so beautiful on my fair skin. The new (palette) version seemed significantly warmer with a lot of shimmer. I will never forget the day my cats shattered what I had left…
Good thing my old box o’ Dallas is still the same!
The old one was a delightful puce…and had almost no dupes at the time. It was a little intense and needed to be sheered out significantly. This one has been tweaked into (IMO) boooor-ing (say in sesame st. voice.). I wonder if Benefit reissued blushes…their initial core competency…when being the browmeisters head on against ABH did not work out as well as they predicted. You know, ABH diversifies greatly, and that leaves us room in brows? I’m glad Benefit is doing this, but am disappointed in all the shades. My speck of Georgia won’t make it through summer.
Why brands change the shades and then call it the same name as a predecessor is a mystery to me. Think Charlotte Tilbury with The Rebel Version 2 – completely different shades, the same name just to confuse everyone.
Yes, as you suggested Christine – re-release the original and create more shades in the same formula.
They did the same thing with fan fave coralista a while back and now it’s almost totally sheer with very little color payoff and it was beautiful and my favorite. I’m done with benefit blushes for sure
Oh no! that was one of my favourites.
I just pulled my backup out of it’s storage, and I have to say, I much prefer the older version color. I also found a Georgia, and wondered why they stopped making it at about the time peachy colors were exploding all over. It would have been a nicer update from the Georgia line, or even the Coralista. They didn’t suit me, but some of my friends really looked great in these two shade lines Benefit once had, but I guess they were discontinued. That’s about the time Too Faced came out with a complete peach line and it went pretty far. Kind of like the Urban Decay Naked line. Too Faced just isn’t consistent for me anymore. I just thought the palettes all looked the same with a different fragrance and a different pop of color. Some of the products were just lacking, and I think Benefit could have done this, but they missed it. They used to have beautiful eye shadows, and the creams were really good, and the powders were so nice, and they discontinued quite a few things. A few new ones came out, but I wish they would do eye shadows again.
