Becca Hi, Angel Highlighter Review & Swatches
Hi Angel
Becca Hi Angel Shimmering Skin Perfector Pressed ($38.00 for 0.25 oz.) has a soft, warmer peachy-copper base with iridescent, blue-to-violet shifting pearl. It has a smooth, silky consistency that wasn’t powdery nor too firmly-pressed into the pan, which helped it pick up readily with a brush while blending out beautifully.
The product had opaque pigmentation in a single layer, though I found easy to apply less or buff the color out for sheerer coverage if desired. It stayed on well for eight and a half hours before fading visibly.
Sad to see Becca go, but this last release is a high note!

The Shimmering Skin Perfector Pressed formula is described as having an "ultra-reflective shine" with a "creamy" texture that "applies seamlessly." In general, the texture of the highlighters is incredibly smooth, silky, and finely-milled with frosted to metallic finishes and the occasional more sparkly finish.
They tend to have a high-shine, more metallic finish and are a stronger highlighter, so they are going to be best suited to someone who likes an obvious highlight over a very subtle one. That being said, with a fan brush and a deft hand, one could certainly achieve a subtler, all-over luminosity as well, but if one takes a typical, tapered highlighting brush, there will be quite a bit of pigment and highlight on the skin.
I find that some shades can emphasize the look of pores slightly to moderately, depending on application. They tend to last between eight to nine hours on me.

So sad they’re shutting down! I was on the fence about this, but I think I might as well get it for old time’s sake, since it seems a bit unique.
It is so pretty! I love how it has a two-tone effect – but shiny and more blushy depending on the lighting (on my skin tone).
That’s what I’m thinking! I’m a bit paler than you, so I think it’ll be a pretty blush topper. I’m also anticipating using it on the eyes quite a bit!
Do you think someone with fair skin could pull it off? It’s so pretty!
I think so!
But, but, I don’t want Becca to go away! 😭
It’s a tossup between this one and the one by MAC that you reviewed earlier today. Both have a peachy base with cooler toned reflect. That’s my jam!
I’d say if you want something lighter-leaning and more highlighter-esque, Hi Angel, and if you want more of a blush, Royal Flush.
I am, completely unexpectedly, really drawn to this! (I never use highlighters, though I once bought champagne pop for a wedding.) Do you think it could be used as a blush, or would my cheeks turn into blinding disco balls?
Yes, on light to medium skin tones, I could see it being more of a blush! You could put a bit of translucent powder on the higher parts of the cheek to tamp down the shine a bit without changing the color.
Excellent! I’ll have to see if I can get my hands on this. Thanks!
(Also, just got your palettes in the mail!!! Two arms of swatches – I basically look like a toddler who got into the marker box – and I am absolutely MADLY in love!)
Oooh, I am thrilled to hear you are loving the palettes based on the swatches so far!
I was wondering if anyone had received their Temptalia palettes yet because I’m waiting for mine and so eager to try it and to hear from others who’ve got theirs already.
I saw someone received theirs in Canada this week and at least one other who had their order clear customs and will be there early next week (I believe they are very eastern Canada). So I hope you get yours soon!
I’m in NYC, so it took just under a week from time of purchase! (I bought it immediately, but I believe it officially shipped Monday / Tuesday.) Hope you love yours!
I was so confused about them having a new product out, when they are done in September. So, with something like this, is it likely Becca had already created this product before they decided to close shop?
(And on a completely different note, is anyone else being harassed by the ad for Dicovery+ at the bottom of every Temptalia page, where the guy is licking the side of a woman’s head, in a super creepy way? [I’m not sure how licking someone’s head like it’s an ice cream cone would be done in a non-creepy way, lol]. I close it, and it opens back up again).
I will look into the ad!
Yes, I would imagine it was pre-planned and either already produced or paid for, or else they might have just wanted to put out one final release since it was also in partnership with the Trevor Project.
Thanks for your reply! The ad is not a super big deal, I was just wondering if everyone had it, or if the ads are personalized and I was somehow targeted as being interested in head licking. ;). (I’m definitely not!)
Most likely personalized to some degree, as ads are, lol, but now… I need to see…
I have the same advertisement. I enjoy horror and mystery subscriptions wanted to see if it was a horror streaming subscription so I clicked on it but it looked pretty tame, lol
Haha. I’m glad it’s not just me! But I don’t like horror stuff, at all. What was the show it was advertising? I’m so curious now. (Yet I haven’t clicked on it, myself, lol).
A different discovery + banner ad shows on the bottom of this PC. it jumps up and intrudes on the blog. There is also a video pop up box at the lower right of screen. I NEVER use the work computer to check Temptalia, and my devices are apple. TBH, the ads are for true crime, my jam, but this computer has no way to target me; it’s used by many. The problem i have on ipads is on the dupes pages…all covered by cosmetics ads to the point that you cannot see the content. Head licking sounds like a new Nars shocko release!
Ugh. This is so beautiful but I really cannot justify adding more highlighter to my collection. I feel like I could replicate this effect with some duochrome eyeshadows layered over a more traditional highlight..
It does have that iridescent/contrasting sheen!
The only place I could find this color is becca cosmetics???? Just curious why you listed all the retailers unless I am missing something?
The system lists retailers where Becca is available in general! It is automated.
Thanks……. been wondering this for a long time….. 🙂
What a gorgeous shade – if I were ‘into’ highlighters, I would get this one.
It is a lovely way to end the brand, if there has to be an end!
Here in the UK, the brand has already been pulled for online and in stores. Most of the products left are in the sales. So this product will not even appear here.
What an interesting shade for a highlighter. Could this possibly mean (the fact that they are releasing new products) that maybe there won’t be a shut down? I hope maybe they’re going to keep going, somehow. Have they declared this as a “last release”? That along might be reason to buy it.
They billed it as their “last-ever” highlighter 🙁 I’m guessing it was already in the works when they decided to shut down.
Oh rats!!! I already stocked up on the Backlight Priming Filter in the VIB sale – that is one product I will REALLY miss. I’m so sad they’re bringing their business to a close.
What a beautiful, subtle take on a colorful highlighter!
I need to get this…because, Becca.
Sad to see them close shop.
Hopefully Sephora in Canada will stock it. I don’t see it yet!
It is exclusive to Becca!
Ah, thanks!
Hey Christine your Becca link isn’t working when you click on it to be directed. So pretty!!
Fixed, thanks Shalonda!
Ooooh, I just bought half a dozen Becca highlighters on sale and couple of months ago so I definitely don’t need more, but this is BEAUTIFUL! I am very tempted to indulge, knowing it will be their last. talk about ending on a high 🙂
Hey Christine – the affiliate link to buy isn’t working! 🙂
I’ve updated it to Becca’s site – looks like they shut down the affiliate program in anticipation of closing in September!
Got this highlighter along with some of their Ultimate Love lipsticks and I have zero regrets. It can be lightly applied to look like a luminous blush, or heavier as a highlighter. The iridescent, blue-to-violet duo chrome effect is to die for!!!
