Becca Dahlia Shimmering Skin Perfector Blush ($34.00 for 0.20 oz.) is a medium-dark, reddish plum with warm undertones and a frosted sheen. Tom Ford Beauty Pink Glow #5 (LE, $60.00) is less shimmery (90% similar). NARS Soulshine #3 (LE, $30.00) is brighter (85% similar). Sleek MakeUP Pomegranate (P, $6.99) is brighter (85% similar). MAC Love Thing (P, $29.00) is less shimmery, lighter (90% similar). NARS Untamed (LE, $30.00) is less shimmery, lighter (85% similar). NARS Goulue (LE, $30.00) is lighter, cooler (85% similar). MAC Gleeful (P, $29.00) is less shimmery, lighter, warmer (85% similar). MAC Hidden Treasure (LE, $24.00) is less shimmery, brighter, warmer (80% similar). NARS Taos (P, $30.00) is brighter, warmer (80% similar). See comparison swatches / view dupes side-by-side.

This formula is supposed to have “just the right balance of color and light” that can be worn alone or “as a blush topper.” It seemed like it is supposed to be somewhere between sheerer like a highlighter and more pigmented like a blush (hence why it can also be layered), which is the best I can surmise from their marketing (there’s a lot of use of subtle as well, which at least indicates, to me, that they’re not saying it’s ultra pigmented). I noticed that layering is best with a very, very light hand and a feathery brush or else the original blush can get overshadowed, as the formula runs semi-opaque. Much like the Shimmering Skin Perfectors, a little can go a long way. Dahlia was richly pigmented, where a little went a long way, and it would be incredibly hard to layer this over another product without it overwhelming whatever was under it. The texture was soft in the pan, but there was a dryness present that seemed to make it harder to blend out on the skin for me. Luckily, the finish didn’t emphasize pores that I could tell. All in all, the blush lasted for nine hours before breaking down.

I don’t have this beauty for comparison purposed but looking at it in the pan, it does look very similar to Nars Goulue (which is now the VIB Rouge “gift” and VIB exclusive shade). Do you have it, Christine? (it was in a Guy Bourdain palette a few years back which I think you might have reviewed, though I’m not sure).

WOW – colour-wise, they seem very similar though the Becca one is WAAAY pigmented (I find Goulue pigmented enough that I need to be careful about overdoing it) so now I REALLY understand what you mean with regard to Becca’s advice about using this as a “layering” blush over other cheek products. Even on its own, I think I’d have to be judicious in the use of this, which is one of the new blushes I was considering buying. Thanks for the “side-by-side”.

I was so excited about these, but the fact that they are so pigmented actually makes them a miss for me.
You have to use such a light hand that the shimmer doesn’t really transfer, so I don’t think these really end up being luminous. A buildable formula would have made so much more sense here, IMO. I still hope they do a holiday palette of the new blushes because the colors are good, but for me it’s definitely not special enough to go after the singles for the price point ?

I will definitely check them out in-store- I think maybe my expectations were a little off. Since they are calling them “Shimmering Skin Perfectors,” I was dreaming up pink and coral and red versions of Opal-level dazzle… Maybe it’s just me that wants that? ?

I do have Rose Gold and Blushed Copper in the holiday palettes- would you say that this formulation is the same level of color+shimmer intensity as those? Or do you find these more pigment heavy?

Haha, as soon as I saw this I thought of Sleek Pomegranate! I have that and also MAC Love Thing so I won’t be getting this, as beautiful as I think it it. ?

I am interested to try some of the other Becca blushes though. There was one I saw that I thought looked lovely but I can’t remember the name! Time to search the swatches. ?

I love the Becca highlighters. This color isn’t really for me but I may check out some of the more subtle ones. It looks pretty on you.

I wonder how close this is to colourpop cheerio or the one that was in a collection just a little while back? It’s a beautiful color and really livens up the face, especially when wearing a more neutral eye and lip.

What a beautiful shade on you !!! You’re making me expand my horizons when it comes to blush ! I’ve always been a strictly pink/peach kind of gal, but you’re allowing me to open up to colors I’d never dreamed of…

Just purchased the wickedly red “Exhibit A” from NARS and looking forward to wearing it this weekend. I’m thinking a black and grey smoky eye and a neutral/nude lip – wish me luck !!!

I think this would be stunning on deep skin tones. Unfortunately, I’m a pasty NC15, lol, so there’s no way I could pull this off successfully.
