bareMinerals Work, Weekend, Wow Eyeshadow Palette

bareMinerals Work, Weekend, Wow Eyeshadow Palette ($26.00 for 0.17 oz.) includes seven eyeshadows from beige to navy blue. There are a few repeats: 500 Thread Count (Permanent, The Dream Sequence), Custom Made (Limited Edition), Rowdy (Permanent, The After Party). It’s a good palette, though a few shades are on the dupable side. I liked that it leaned a little cooler-toned overall, but I would have preferred more satin/pearl finishes to pair with the mattes rather than the more sparkly/ultra-frosted shades (like Custom Made and Starstruck), as I think they have a thicker/denser consistency that makes them harder to blend with the mattes as a whole.

500 Thread Count is a light, pinky-beige with a mostly matte finish. It had excellent pigmentation with a soft, dense texture that was just a smidgen on the powdery side–in the pan only. It adhered well to bare skin and lasted for ten hours on me. MAC Mylar (P, $16.00) is warmer. MAC Vanilla (P, $16.00) is warmer. Urban Decay Anonymous (LE, $18.00) is darker, warmer. Too Faced Cream Colored Ponies (LE, $16.00) is less shimmery, darker. Too Faced Snow Angel (LE, $16.00) is less shimmery, darker. Kat Von D Lifelike (P, ) is warmer. Too Faced Egg Nog (LE, $16.00) is darker. Make Up For Ever M500 Ivory (P, $21.00) is less shimmery. Too Faced Meringue (LE, $16.00) is less shimmery. Make Up For Ever M530 Eggshell (P, $21.00) is lighter. Tarte Super Mom (LE, ) is less shimmery, darker. Marc Jacobs Beauty The Parisienne #5 (LE, ) is lighter, brighter. Urban Decay Thirteen (P, $18.00) is cooler. ColourPop Glow (LE, $5.00) is less shimmery. Tarte Full Moon (LE, ) is less shimmery. See comparison swatches / compare dupes side-by-side.

Trench Coat is a muted, medium-dark taupe brown with neutral-to-warm undertones and a matte finish. It had very good pigmentation with a really silky, blendable consistency that was a teeny, tiny bit powdery. It wore well for ten and a half hours on me. Kat Von D Vanish (P, ) is warmer. Divergent Radiant Initiation (LE, ) is warmer. Too Faced Cashmere Bunny (P, $16.00) is darker, warmer. Make Up For Ever M540 Gray Beige (P, $21.00) is darker, warmer. Too Faced Nudie (P, $16.00) is warmer. Smashbox Taupe (P, ) is darker, more muted. Smashbox Sable (P, ) is darker. Laura Mercier Cappuccino (LE, $23.00) is darker. See comparison swatches / compare dupes side-by-side.

Custom Made is a light-medium, peachy-pink with warm undertones and a frosted, metallic finish. It had good color coverage with a soft, blendable consistency that adhered well to bare skin and lasted for nearly eleven hours before creasing. NARS Goddess (P, $28.00) is more shimmery, lighter, cooler. LORAC Dream Girl #10 (LE, ) is darker. Urban Decay High (P, $18.00) is less shimmery. Cle de Peau Baby Universe #2 (P, ) is lighter, brighter. MAC A Natural Flirt (P, $20.00) is darker. MAC A Natural Flirt (P, $20.00) is darker. Marc Jacobs Beauty The Lover #2 (LE, ) is more shimmery, darker. MAC Bouffant (LE, $16.00) is more shimmery. Tarte Champagne Bubble Bath (LE, ) is darker. MAC Nostalgic (LE, $19.50) is less shimmery. Stila Rose Quartz (P, ) is more shimmery, darker, warmer. bareMinerals Future (P, ) is cooler, more pigmented, more shimmery, brighter, darker. MAC Jest (P, $16.00) is more shimmery, cooler. Tom Ford Beauty Orchid Haze #1 (P, ) is lighter. Urban Decay Sin (P, $18.00) is less shimmery, darker, more shimmery. First 15 dupes listed, see more: View dupes side-by-side.

Starstruck is a bright, light-medium silver-pewter with colder undertones and a warmer, metallic sheen. The texture was really dense, but it was a little harder to get a smooth, even layer of it, because it was almost cream-like. I would recommend using a flatter, firmer brush with this one to maximize the effect and smoothness on the lid. On me, it wore well for nine hours before creasing. MAC Palladium (LE, ) is less shimmery, darker, warmer. Guerlain Two Stylish #1 (P, ) is darker, warmer. Sephora Collection Lunar Eclipse (98) (P, $13.00) is darker, warmer. Dior Etoile (021) (P, $31.00) is less pigmented. Tarte C’est La Vie (LE, ) is darker, warmer. MAC Misty (LE, $32.50) is lighter, brighter. Sugarpill Tiara (P, $13.00) is darker. Inglot #454 (P, $6.00) is less shimmery, darker. See comparison swatches / compare dupes side-by-side.

Fuze is a muted, dark taupe-brown with subtle, warm undertones and a matte finish. It had mostly opaque pigmentation with a soft, silky consistency that was very easy to blend on the skin. The color lasted for ten hours before fading slightly. bareMinerals Exhale (P, ) is lighter, cooler. MAC Diamond Dove (LE, $16.00) is darker. bareMinerals Vow (P, ) is lighter, cooler. MAC Lofty (LE, $16.00) is lighter. theBalm Dig It (LE, $16.00) is lighter. Charlotte Tilbury The Rock Chick #4 (P, ) is darker. LORAC Cool Gray (P, ) is lighter. Chanel Charming #5 (LE, ) is less pigmented. bareMinerals Head Over Heels (LE, ) is lighter. Tarte Wind Down Brown (LE, ) is darker. LORAC Espresso (Mega Pro) (LE, ) is darker. Tarte Espresso Yourself (LE, ) is lighter. LORAC Chocolate (P, ) is warmer. Viseart Cendre (P, ) is lighter. Too Faced Risque (P, $16.00) is lighter, warmer. First 15 dupes listed, see more: See comparison swatches / compare dupes side-by-side.

Rowdy is a cool-toned, purply-taupe with a matte finish. It had good color payoff with a finely-milled, silky smooth texture that worked well on the skin and lasted for ten hours. Milani Bella Taupe (05) (P, $4.49) is lighter, brighter. Too Faced Clove (LE, $16.00) is more shimmery, darker. Too Faced Clove (LE, $16.00) is more shimmery, darker. This looks to be a pretty decent travel palette! I am really lovin’ the eye look you did with this palette, Christine! It’s sophisticated, yet not dull or boring, but really pretty!

I’m glad this did well. I’m not sure if I’ll wind up picking this up or not. I really like the other BM palette I have with this shadow formula.I really don’t need anymore palettes and I’m trying to reserve my palette space and $ for some Visearts(someday!). Plus it looks very durable. Love the eye look Christine!

I love Rowdy. I’m obsessed with matte taupes lately. The palette is much more impressive swatched than in the pan. Good price too.

Thank you for the review. I have been waiting to see how it rates. I keep looking for cooler toned palettes. This might just be on my buy list now. Any suggestions on other cool toned palettes?

It’s a lovely palette and I adore the Nightfall shade. However I do think that Fuze is an unnecessary shade – why do brands have to put in a brown matte into every palette I don’t know. An olive green would have been good. I also think that Rowdy (which is a purple -toned taupe) was a good inclusion for those who love this kind of colour.

I would have preferred an olive, too. However, I notice when palettes don’t have a matte brown, a lot people complain about it, because they like a matte brown in the crease. Some people with heavily hooded eyes really need a medium or dark matte to help the hood recede.

Even though I don’t need this palette, it’s refreshing to see one score so well. I already have 500 Thread Count and Rowdy, dupes for most of the others. The look you created… just beautiful! I see how creatively you manage to use these combinations and I think to myself, “I need to keep this in mind the next time I’m using ‘such-n-such’ palette.” But, when the time comes, my mind just goes blank and I end up avoiding certain shades altogether!
