bareMinerals The Adrenaline Rush Color Boost Review, Photos, Swatches
bareMinerals The Adrenaline Rush Color Boost
bareMinerals The Adrenaline Rush Color Boost ($29.00 for 0.30 oz.) is described as a “luminous golden ivory, natural matte pink, [and] matte rosewood.” Together, they swirl to create a soft, muted peach color with a mostly matte finish. MAC Adored is lighter. MAC Blush All Day is pinker, more muted. MAC Legendary is pinker. MAC Immortal Flower is brighter. MAC Light Year is more shimmery. Giorgio Armani Coral Bliss is a bit brighter. See comparison swatches.
The formula is supposed to provide a “subtle hint of fresh, radiant color” and have “luminous, stay-true buildable color.” They’re right on the money about subtle color, and I would only recommend this for light-medium and fairer complexions, because it really just gets lost on my skin tone (which is medium) and I had to pack it on to get anything to show, which defeats the purpose of something subtle and luminous as it ends up looking powdery and heavy. I think it would have been great for bareMinerals to launch two shades–one for lighter complexions, another for deeper ones. The texture was soft, finely-milled, but rather powdery so you may want to tap your brush lightly so it doesn’t have too much product on it. Applied like a normal blush, it didn’t look powdery on the skin, though I didn’t really see any luminous sheen as it looked really quite matte. It seemed to wear well on me for eight and a half hours.

Oooh! bareMinerals is stepping up their game in terms of packaging & presentation. This product intrigues me 🙂 x
You are radiant and those LIPS are DeViNE!! I can’t wait until you review Menace!
Thanks, Helen!
Too light for me, but it looks great on you.
Thanks, Liz! I actually felt like it was too light for me!
The design’s cool, the middle shade looks like a fingerprint, but I’m not really blown away. However, the shade on your lips is a different story. I love dark shades, and Menace is right up my alley. 😀
I’m one that can’t stand when companies make “subtle color” products. I want pigmented or nothing! Haha 🙂
I definitely like medium pigmentation or better for blush/bronzer products – you can usually take ’em down to barely-there but then you can build them (and they’ll suit more skin tones).
Looks beautiful, like a lighter version of canyon sunset by laura mercier which I love.
The design on the powder looks like contour lines!
I can’t actually notice any of the powder on your cheeks, but I have a feeling it would show up really nicely on my very pale skin. I enjoy having a few cheek products that aren’t the most pigmented powders in the world, because they make for no-brainers that I can swirl my blush in and apply without the fear of clown-cheeks.
Totally understand, Audrey! I like it when brands make a few variations available so then the range is inclusive, even not all shades work the same on everyone (because that’s to be expected to some degree!). Let me know if you end up trying it!
I’m not a fan of their foundation but the pressed face products I’m always drooling over them. 😉
I really want to buy this because I love the packaging and the way the blush looks in the pan. I just can’t though! Subtle color is not something I want to pay $29 bucks for, maybe $15.
I MUCH prefer this type of cheek product, even on your skin tone (which is about the same as my own). Very obvious blush looks very clown-ish to me, and I think this looks so natural and beautiful! I think I’ll pick this up. Thanks!
ooooh I saw this in the latest Ulta ad and was hoping you’d do a review on it, Christine! I do like what I see, but I’ll have to go check it out in person. It seems like it’ll work on my fair skin. Thanks!
I love how it looks in the pan! It’s pretty but probably wouldn’t show up on me
i actually love this!
I work at ulta and I was so excited when we got it in…. and then it barely shows up on my skin :/
I’ve tried it on a lot of people and it really only shows up on very light complexions. I have had some luck using the ivory shade as a highlighter, and then mixing the other two shades as a blush, comes out super pretty and natural if you have the right skin tone
There is nothing luminous about this. I purchased it and am quite disappointed. Sure the packaging is beautiful and the products looks stunning…but that’s it as far as wow factor. I too had to pile this on and I have light skin (olive tone). I want to love this brand SOO much, but not much of there new stuff blows my skirt up!
This is so pretty!
I was very happy to see this on your blog! I got the Ulta flyer in the mail today and they were advertising this & I was curious about it. It’s so pretty!
Yay! 🙂 Glad it was timely!
I was in Ulta today and my friend and I played around with this. It really looked fabulous against her skin (she’s very very fair) but I didn’t really see any pigmentation on me. It looked really great on her though!
You look exquisite in this full-face shot! Love the look on you!
Thank you!
GORGEOUS!
OMG Christine your lips look delicious, and, seeing as I’m of a similar colouring, that blush is waaaay too subtle. My question is actually about your earrings! May I ask where they are from? They’re just phenomenal.
Hi Kris!
They’re from here: http://www.etsy.com/shop/bellaanelajewelry
I bought this. I have fair skin and even I have to pack it on for it to show. I am too lazy to return it, but I don’t recommend it. For the price there are a lot of better options out there.
