Formula Overview
$22.00/0.04 oz. - $550.00 Per Ounce
The formula is supposed to have "high-impact" color with "long-wear" that is "waterproof" and "glides like a liquid." The majority of the eyeliners had semi-opaque to opaque coverage, which was quite good for a pencil eyeliner. The matte shades tended to have the highest and most even coverage compared to the shimmers, which were less consistent.
The texture was lightweight, smooth, and creamy without being too emollient, though they are good for smudging and take longer than average (but not THAT long!) to dry down.
I did not find the wear to be exceptional; they were solid and wore around eight hours on the lower lash line before thinning noticeably, while they had decent (six-hour) wear on my water line. Both lengths of wear are average for pencil eyeliner for me with the longer-wearing formulas getting closer to 10 to 12 hour wear.

Onyx Gold Shimmer is everything I want in an eyeliner and now I’m pissed that I might buy it. So far I’ve avoided giving celebrity “I already have more than I need, but now the money men and advertisers around me saw they could make fistfuls more with little more than my name and face so here we are…selling the same old for 300%+ markup” brands my money…but, man, it’s hard to find that color in a liner that stays.
Totally agree with the celeb thing and wish that creative people other than celebs got the opportunity to be product creators/design lines. But I have to admit that for the last Sephora sale, I only got concealers from Starr, Rare Beauty, and Rose Inc. embarrassed that I like all of them a lot.
My sentiments exactly…. Rimmel used to have a liner very close in colour to Onyx Gold Shimmer – it was called Black Gold and it’s lovely (I still have one in my makeup cupboard and it’s still usable; it’s a shame it was discontinued because not only is it beautiful and unique; it was also affordably priced).
Loving Deep Bronze and Onyx Gold! Both would get tons of use by me. Is it nuts that I still want Onyx Gold even though I have the OG Sephora T-Rex and UD Stash? Probably!
The Deep Bronze Shimmer has a very nice finish to it! I like that both shimmers have a more pearly sheen shimmer than mega glittery shimmer to them.
I really like the Deep Bronze and Olive shimmer shades the best. They look quite comfortable to apply and have a soft finish to them.
Gold Onyx is beautiful, I like Deep Bronze Shimmer as well, but not as much as Gold Onyx. Bothe went to the WL, I hope for a sale in the future. 🙂
