Pat McGrath Infatuation & Elson 5 SatinAllure Lipsticks Reviews & Swatches
Infatuation
Pat McGrath Infatuation SatinAllure Lipstick ($32.00 for 0.13 oz.) is a slightly muted, medium-dark pinky-plum with cooler undertones and a satin finish. It had semi-opaque, buildable color coverage that applied evenly and smoothly across my lips without tugging. The texture was lightweight, thin but not clingy, and comfortable to wear. This shade lasted well for five hours and was lightly hydrating over time.

Formula Overview
$30.00/0.13 oz. - $230.77 Per Ounce
The formula is supposed to have "medium buildable coverage" with a "satin shine finish" that is "comfortable" and "weightless." The texture was lightweight, on the thinner side but had good glide that it didn't feel clingy and seemed to be fairly forgiving of lip texture and imperfections. The coverage was more semi-opaque to opaque than true medium. They wore for four to six hours, depending on the richness of the shade.
Also worth pointing out: the price drop (from $38 to $28) reflects a change in the packaging, primarily felt in the cap, which is now a much thinner and lighter-weight plastic (reminiscent of the brand's mini lipsticks).

Infatuation
LELimited Edition. $30.00.
Elson 5
Pat McGrath Elson 5 SatinAllure Lipstick ($32.00 for 0.13 oz.) is a bright, medium-dark ruby red with cool, blue undertones and a satin sheen. It had medium, buildable pigmentation paired with a lightly emollient, smooth consistency that was lightweight and thin, yet it didn’t cling to imperfections. It stayed on well for five hours and was lightly moisturizing while worn.
Note: My particular product seemed to have slight grainy bits of unmixed product in it, though; it was very subtle and not that noticeable during application but something I noticed in the close-up photos.

Because I am literally ALWAYS drawn to reds and rich pinks with a plummy purple cast, ie; MAC Sí, Sí Me and PML Executive Realness, I love both of these featured shades. Likely that I probably have something close to both, but who knows?
I did not have either of these flagged to look for, but Infatuation looks really nice! Probably too bright for me (story of my makeup life lol)
These both look great! Hydrating lipsticks with no flavor/scent are definitely up my alley. I’m particularly looking forward to reviews of Negligee and Entranced. I’m probably going to pick up a couple of these: this formula and description reminds me of the original Shiseido Rouge Rouge lipsticks and I was super sad those were discontinued and have been looking for a suitable replacement.
Both shades are in very popular colours – I like the Elson 5 the best as an all round year red.
Infatuation to me is perfect. I have always been drawn to these plumish shades. Sadly, some have turned purple on me and had to go back. This is one when I get near a Sephora I’d run to swatch. I went through a small phase last fall of blind buys and they just don’t work for me.
I have PML Elson. Now I wonder if I need PML Elson 5? Too many reds, and they’re all so pretty!
I do wish Mother Pat hadn’t cheaped out on the packaging of these lipsticks.
It was far down the list, but I found I have a dupe for Infatuation, MAC Plumful. I also have some five of the dupes on my WL, guess I like the look of this shade.
Elson 5 looks nice. I have so many reds, and not one dupe for it! I do have Elson, the one without a number, I find it very drying so I hardly ever use it.
I also think that all brands could have more imagination. We are now up to Elson 5, I do like Karen Elson, she’s iconic and gorgeous, but still. Oh, well, sorry for the little rant.
I have Mac plumful so this will not be a buy. I always have reservations about Pat McGrath because her packaging has too much glitter and is not eco friendly
