Pisces in the Sky

ColourPop Pisces in the Sky Pressed Powder Shadow Quad ($9.00 for 0.21 oz.) includes two shimmer shades (rosy-plum with duochrome shift, bright blue-teal) and two matte shades (darker peach, muted orange). The only shade that I had real trouble with was the lighter matte, which was more powdery and prone to sheering out. The other three shades were pigmented, blendable, and easy to use.

Healing Water

Healing Water has a light-medium rosy-plum base with green-to-teal shifting metallic shimmer. It had opaque color payoff paired with a smooth, lightly emollient texture that was dense without being overly thick, so it picked up well with a dry brush and had good adhesion without fallout. It lasted well for eight hours before fading visibly.

Formula Overview

$4.50/0.05 oz. - $90.00 Per Ounce

The new Pressed Powder Shadow formula is supposed to be “highly pigmented” with an “ultra-velvety and silky” texture that is “long-wearing” and “adheres easily to the eyes.” Most of the shades have semi-opaque to opaque pigmentation that applies well to bare skin, blends out without issue, and lasts for seven to eight hours.

The matte eyeshadows tend to be a little more powdery, though soft and finely-milled, in the pan, while the shimmers have a creamier, dense consistency. Occasionally, the more sparkly or metallic shades apply better with fingertips or a dampened brush.

Almost Psychic

Almost Psychic is a bright, light-medium blue-teal with warmer flecks of gold sparkle over a metallic finish. The eyeshadow had rich pigmentation in a single layer, which adhered evenly to bare skin as the texture was smooth, lightly emollient, and easy to pick up with a dry brush. It stayed on nicely for eight hours before fading noticeably.

Empath Much

Empath Much is a medium-dark peach with warmer, more orange undertones and a matte finish. It had mostly opaque pigmentation but the texture was somewhat powdery, which resulted in light fallout and a tendency for the eyeshadow to sheer out during application. It wore decently for seven and a half hours on me.

Dreamer

Dreamer is a muted, medium-dark orange with warm undertones and a matte finish. The consistency felt smooth, lightly velvety, and had enough substance to it that it was opaque in coverage but still blended out easily. It lasted well for eight hours before fading visibly.

What a well-balanced palette, with complementary hues and their tints. I actually don’t mind powderiness, and given how common that peach color is and how well CP has done it elsewhere, I suspect a deliberate choice – an easy transition shade that’s meant to sheer out for contrast with the darker orange.
What a lovely collection.
