ColourPop x Animal Crossing Collection Swatches
ColourPop x Animal Crossing Collection is a new collaboration that launches January 28th at 10AM PT on ColourPop’s website and later on February 14th at Ulta. The collection includes four shadow palettes (each has a pressed glitter, FYI), three Just a Tint mini duos, two powder blushes, one cream eyeshadow, and one glitter gel (not shown).
Pass. I don’t get the Animal Crossing hype (love my Switch, tho!) and I think this is an ugly, phoned in release.
I didn’t think I’d like Animal Crossing but fell in love quickly. It’s just so soothing and given the state of the world, a happy little place I can go to when it seems like all the news is gloom and doom.
With that said, this collection is a miss. I guess my expectations were too high, but I also don’t get why CP is so obsessed with messy glitter.
At least it’s not Mac x the Sims… I do agree it is phoned in. I wonder if this is what Nintendo wanted though.
I’m not super impressed with the eye shadows, especially compared to their existing pallettes that I already have (and of course I just caved and bought the Baby Yoda one right before these come out, lol), and the pressed glitter in each one is pretty disappointing… I really love this game though and the packaging is so cute, I might just buy a lip duo just to have it 😂
This…doesn’t look great lol
I just got a Switch recently and have been playing the heck out of some Zelda (although I have to psych myself up for boss fights cos I’m a coward.) I’ve never tried Animal Crossing but my friends love it and I can see its appeal as a relaxing distraction. Little things that can make us all happy right now, right? But I also don’t see the effort put into this release, plus the glitter shades would be a letdown regardless. I’d love a Zelda collection if they put the work into it.
LOL, Lauren, I get nervous for boss fights too! 😂😂😂
Good thing I’m not a fan of Animal Crossing or I’d be so disappointed to find a glitter in each of the quads. Although, to be honest, the ones in the purple and green quads don’t appear to be frighteningly chunky. As in, I could see miceller water on a qtip to remove…🤔
Now I’m even more disappointed.
I’ve been playing Animal Crossing since the GameCube, so I consider myself more than a casual fan. This only drives home my belief that this is a cheap money grab.
Personally, I may never order another CP product again. I’m tired of their complete lack of effort.
Same, I’m a huge AC fan and the fact that they’re STILL putting in glitters after their consumers beg them not to, it just is a slap in the face to see one in every palette that only have 4 shades. As someone who avoids glitter, this is extremely disappointing and I’ll get my makeup elsewhere until CP can listen to their buyers.
Sadly, I agree. It’s pretty clear CP only cares about churning out as much product as possible for maximum profit. The legitimate complaints from the very folks purchasing these products (pet glitter, non-inclusivity, etc. etc. etc.) are being ignored and if CP wants to play that way, that’s fine. There are many many other brands that get it right, and they’re the brands that I’ll stay devoted to. CP doesn’t need my coin anymore.
Oh man… I don’t need any of this, but I want all of it, haha. We’ll see how the launch goes…
I love the lip tints so much! I’m pretty sure I’m going to buy Fruit Roots, but Pick of the Bunch looks like something I would wear, too…
And of course I’m getting Balloon Pop (despite spending so much of my life trying to shoot down balloons to get recipes lol) because I’m a sucker for neutral SSS.
All of the swatches look great! This is such a great collection.
I’ve never played the game, but I thought those tiny palettes were cute.
And then came the swatches.
Pressed glitter, and the shades don’t seem cohesive at all. What a shame.
I love Animal Crossing so I was very excited to see this a CP release but this….its so blah. So phoned in. I miss when brands put effort into IP based launches.
Oh my, I spent hours and hours playing Animal Crossing on the old Nintendo DS, what a sweet memory!
I don’t know about the performance of each piece but this collection is dreamy!!!
Nooooo – it all looks too patchy, some shades OK, others are poor. Even the lippie sticks look lacklustre.
The packaging is cute , but I feel like the shades are bit light. The purple isn’t totally purple based.
The green palette has two shades I like but I don’t think it would be worth it for just two shades. Looks like a pass but I know a few of my friends will like it.
Between this and that Hello Kitty collection, I’m convinced Colourpop is now moving past Gen Z to actual children as a demographic
The lip tint sticks seems to be the only thing worth buying. Hopping off that awful glitter train though lol
I’m sitting here waiting for the launch in half an hour. This is frankly such a money grab, but I’m still going to get one if I can because I like them enough lol. Colourpop’s quality seems to have become very inconsistent lately. I returned the Baroque palette because it was just awful – mattes rubbery and wouldn’t blend, shimmers had a ton of fallout and chunky ugly reflects that I’d expect from lower-rate brands…maybe I just got a bad one? I have no reason to believe this one will be better; the glitter seems to be similar – I mean either make a shade matte or shimmery, don’t add in this sparse lazy glitter that falls out everywhere for a “slight sparkle,” ha. OK, now that that rant is out of the way – I HAVE been pleased with some of their recent launches, and though this looks kind of meh, I will probably buy one because a) it’s SOOO cute and b) I really like the lavender & brown color schemes, and I could see myself wearing those color stories a lot. Some of the glitter gels look cute too. The lip tint crayons, I feel, are nothing new – they’ve done it before. As usual though, the packaging is really good and I do love glitter, so I might try them….even though I never manage to get them on launch day lol.
Side note – I’m just wondering why they do the same peach and pink blushes for every brand collab launch lately? I don’t think they’re particularly flattering, but they are cute and summery once in a while.
I would be less picky and wary of buying from Colourpop if they allowed returns. I’m scared to buy from anywhere but Ulta now. They blame the “low-cost nature of their products” but I don’t think $12-15 a palette is really low-cost? I can understand not returning their sale items because sometimes they are absurdly cheap, but their full price launches? Nah.
