Makeup by Mario Launches October 1st Exclusively at Sephora
Release Date + About the Launch
Makeup Artist Mario Dedivanovic introduces luxury beauty brand MAKEUP BY MARIO, featuring thoughtful, meticulously-crafted formulas inspired by the pro products Mario has used and loved throughout his entire career. Comprised of 21 high-quality products and tools for eyes and skin, every shade is universal and created for all human skin tones.
“My greatest hope is that this collection inspires play and experimentation—that each product enhances your artistry, elevates your application, and evolves your technique,” says Mario.
2020 marks Mario’s 20th year as a makeup artist. His namesake brand is the culmination of twenty years of artistry, experience, and experimentation, having worked with some of the most famous faces of our time. From education to social media to innovation, Mario is a visionary and pioneer at the leading edge of the beauty industry. He has built a global following, having taught and popularized the best-known makeup techniques of the last decade and ignited viral trends that have inspired and forever altered the beauty landscape. A respected authority and global sensation, MAKEUP BY MARIO is a new classic in the beauty industry.
“With MAKEUP BY MARIO, I’ve taken my signature techniques and transformed them into accessible pro products inspired by the ones I’ve loved and used throughout my career,” says Mario. “When I teach my Masterclasses, I take my students through my entire thought process and demonstrate all of my techniques. Now, my techniques and philosophy are infused into my products.”
A master of invention and reinvention, Mario formulated this collection with an uncompromising emphasis on product performance. “It is my mission that everyone feels secure, confident, and trusts in these products,” he says. “MAKEUP BY MARIO is my passion and love for makeup artistry encapsulated in a very intentional collection, crafted to deliver a luxury and professional makeup experience that isn’t precious. Everyone should have access to the very best quality formulas. That is so important to me.”
Each product takes one of Mario’s signature techniques and transforms it into a single product. He created this collection with the professional makeup artist in mind, but these products and tools are for anyone who loves and is inspired by makeup.

Hmm, for some reason I’m not drawn to these products? However, a make-up line by Mario seems overdue.
Which of these new Sephora lines are Kendo? The palette bases look like the Fenty click minis.
The brands Kendo are involved in are listed on Kendo’s site – I think Fenty/Fenty Skin were the last brands they launched. Mario’s brand is self-funded by himself and a family member.
Is it just me or do the left nine shades of that shimmer palette remind you of the Garden Variety palette by Colourpop? Especially if you turned some shimmers into mattes.
Really like the functionality and cohesiveness of this initial launch. Probably won’t be getting anything due to cost, but I can see this being very successful.
Hmm… I was very excited about this launch but now I’m not sure that anything is really leaping out at me. Maybe that metallic palette, but it’s not something I really need!
That nude palette looks soooo much like Biba.
Meh. Also, whose deep is that? Can anyone with a truly deep skin tone use that? I highly doubt it. I was turned off from Mario when he told people on IG that KKW didn’t need deeper contour shades bc basically to him they were deep enough. That’s all I needed to know about him as a person and makeup artist. Clearly he doesn’t acknowledge a large portion of the world.
Mario, THE Mario? Call me very intrigued! I will be very interested to see how these eyeshadow palettes swatch and work in actual looks. Because we know how particular he is, these ought to be really great!
The price point is within reach for a “luxury” brand. I have my eye on the matte neutral palette: if that palette is a winner as far as ingredients and performance, I’m grabbing it.
I wonder if any of these shadows will be comparable to the ones in his Anastasia palette that was so sought-after.
$48 for a palette of five shades should include the recommended mixing medium! $14 to buy it on its own seems excessive.
From these images, the eye trios don’t look light/medium/deep, but pale/light/medium ?
Definitely not what I expected, but I am definitely very curious to see reviews!
I can’t say I’m excited about it, but not much seems to excite me these days. It seems like a decent debut collection, and will be interesting to see how they perform. The minimalist packaging is nice, especially for travel.
I would definitely be interested in the Metallics palette, although there are a couple of overly pinky shades in there. But it would be good to assess the quality of this new makeup brand.
Interesting, but I’ll stick with Pat McGrath’s palettes. They work best for me.
The “deep” eye set is deeply insulting. It would work on Kim K during summer, but not on anyone with deeper toned skin.
Cohesive, clever and permanent. Imho, It will succeed if quality is present.
This is great to see — Mario’s older makeup products have developed an almost cult status. I like that he separates out eyeshadow by finish and would be interested in the nice compact brown mattes palette. I would want the formula to be stellar. I like that the shadows are meant to be buildable.
I can’t say anything here jumps out, but I am curious about the Master Eye sets and the Master Crystal Reflector, the quartz reminds me of Stila’s Heaven’s Dew.
The packaging looks like a mix of RMS and Jouer, clean and modern. I like that the prices aren’t too high and the products look interesting and same, but different, from current market offerings. I’d check it out if shopping in stores is ever really “safe” again.
When will you be doing swatches? A lot of these look very hit or miss, but still curious about the all matte palette and highlighters
