NABLA Cosmetics Platinum Cutie Palette ($24.00 for 0.27 oz.) is a new six-pan palette that featured two shimmery shades, two glittery shades, and two matte shades. All six shades were pigmented, blendable, and longer-wearing, though the glitter shades had slight to light fallout over time, so they would be better used with an adhesive base/spray to help them adhere more reliably. The two shimmers were exceptionally lovely to work with and seemed to “melt” when applied for a very seamless finish.

As a FYI, Gem System and Luxuriance both contained plastic glitter.

Tenebra

Tenebra is a blackened taupe with cool undertones and a matte finish. It had good color coverage that needed to be built up for full coverage. The texture was soft, velvety, and finely-milled with light powderiness in the pan but blended out well along the edges over bare skin. The eyeshadow stayed on well for eight and a half hours before fading visibly.

Formula Overview

$8.00/0.09 oz. - $88.89 Per Ounce

The brand has a few different powder eyeshadow formulations, and because they don't just differ in finish but in price, they're listed as individual formulas on Temptalia, but for ease, I wanted to keep the same overview available so it's easy to get a big picture overview of their powder eyeshadows generally!

Super Matte Eyeshadows are "highly pigmented, completely opaque" with a "full, velvety" finish. The Super Mattes have a more finely-milled, velvety, and more substantial texture compared to the brand's Soft Matte eyeshadows, and I also found that they were much more pigmented than the Soft Mattes, too. There was more fallout during application if I wasn't careful due to the Super Matte shades being so pigmented, though. If one prefers building up coverage, the Soft Mattes would be more suitable. The eyeshadows in this finish tended to wear seven to eight hours on me.

Top Coat Wet & Dry Eyeshadows are supposed to give a "wet effect" and can be used wet or dry but are suggested to be used by "dabbing them on with your fingers" or "trying it wet." I found that these varied--some were really soft, blendable, and extremely pigmented with more fleck-like sparkle and others were drier and firmer with a thinner texture that was stiffer to work with. Most of them did apply best with fingertips or with a dampened brush over a dry brush. This finish is more interesting than the others, but I'd pay attention to the specific shades as there was some inconsistency. The wear time ranged from six to eight hours and slight to moderate fallout.

Satin Eyeshadows are supposed to have a "gentle sheen" with "the finest pearls" that will have "excellent adhesion" and be "long-lasting." They can also be applied wet or dry, and some shades did apply more smoothly or had better pigmentation when applied with a dampened brush, but the majority were easy to work with dry. The texture was smooth, firm but not too dense, and most shades blended out easily as the formula wasn't stiff to work with. Most shades lasted seven to eight hours.

Soft Matte Eyeshadows are supposed to give a "soft and delicate" effect while blending "easily." While the brand mentions "soft and delicate," the swatches they provided of the shades in this finish were showing opaque coverage in one layer, so the expectation would be for true, full color coverage, but a lot of the shades in the finish seemed more muted (which could be interpreted as "soft and delciate"). My experience was that the pigmentation ranged from medium to opaque but most shades were buildable, and I felt like buildable, matte eyeshadows are much needed and quite versatile--there's a huge difference in a poorly pigmented eyeshadow and one that can be pigmented, just requiring two layers--the latter gives one a lot of control over how it can appear in a look. The shades in this finish seemed to fade a little faster on me with six to seven hour wear on average.

Pearl Eyeshadows are supposed to "apply evenly, blend well" with "excellent skin adhesion" and "long-lasting" wear with high pigmentation. These are your m re typical shimmery, powdery eyeshadow formula with light creaminess, moderately dense textures, and are usually quite easy to blend out. Most of the shades had semi-opaque to opaque pigmentation that lasted between seven and eight hours on me. Some shades were very metallic and others were a soft frost.

Gem System

Gem System is a medium-dark pewter with cool undertones and a glittering, sparkling sheen. It had a very wet-like look when applied that was highly reflective while also twinkling. It had finer glitter particles in it from what I could tell, but there was light fallout during application (definitely not bad and impressive for as glittery as it was), regardless of whether I used it with a fingertip or dry brush. The consistency was smooth to the touch, lightly creamy with moderate slip. It had opaque color coverage in a single layer, which wore nicely for eight and a half hours with light fallout over time.

As a FYI, while this shade is notated as “Eye,” it does contain plastic glitter. I would recommend using this with an adhesive spray or base to help ensure all of the particles stay where you want them to.

Ingredients

NOTICE: All products categorized under "Glitter" contain Polyethylene Terephthalate, also known as plastic or PET glitter, and it is typically cosmetic grade glitter. Inclusion of this ingredient sometimes carries a warning (in the US) that the product is "not intended for use in the immediate eye area." This ingredient has not been approved for usage on the eyes per the FDA. In recent years, some brands are including this product in their eyeshadows without any warning or callout and effectively marketing them as eyeshadows or including a symbol of an "eye" which suggests eye usage. Via CosIng for EU, PET glitter is permitted without any restrictions or limitations. For an in-depth look at whether cosmetic grade glitter is safe, please view this post.

Rich Darling

Rich Darling is a medium-dark, plummy taupe with subtle, warm undertones and a metallic finish. It had opaque pigmentation in a single layer, which applied well to bare skin with a smooth, even lay down of product. The texture was smooth to the touch, lightly creamy and denser but not stiff or difficult to pick up with a brush. The color showed signs of light creasing after nine hours of wear.

Ingredients

Priceless

Priceless is a light, golden bronze with warm undertones and a sparkling, metallic finish. The texture was incredibly smooth and cream-like, dense without being too firm, and I was impressed by how well it picked up with a brush despite seeming to have a denser, creamier feel to it. It had rich color payoff that adhered evenly to bare skin and blended out nicely without fallout. It lasted well for nine hours before creasing slightly.

Ingredients

mica, calcium sodium borosilicate, octyldodecyl stearoyl stearate, zinc stearate, hydrogenated polycyclopentadiene, caprylic/capric triglyceride, dimethicone, talc, hydrogenated palm kernel glycerides, isododecane, caprylyl glycol, ethylhexylglycerin, hydrogenated palm glycerides, tin oxide, synthetic fluorphlogopite, silica, calcium titanium borosilicate, calcium aluminum borosilicate, aluminum calcium sodium silicate, alumina. +/− (may contain / peut contenir): ci 77891 (titanium dioxide), ci 77491 - ci 77492 - ci 77499 (iron oxides), ci 77400 (bronze powder), ci 77400 (copper powder), ci 77510 (ferric ferrocyanide

Luxuriance

Luxuriance is a bright, light-medium silver with strong, cool undertones and a glittering, metallic finish. It appeared darker and lighter depending on how much light was reflecting off of the surface but often looked like a lighter, brighter silver in person. The texture felt smooth to the touch with light creaminess but wasn’t too dense or too thick.

It worked well with a dry brush as well as fingertips, though fingertip application minimized fallout potential a little more than a brush, which had light fallout. It had nearly opaque color coverage in a single layer that adhered evenly to bare skin and blended out well along the edges. It wore well for nine hours before creasing faintly, though there was slight fallout over time.

As a FYI, while this shade is notated as “Eye,” it does contain plastic glitter.

Aristocracy

Aristocracy is a muted, medium brown with subtle, warm undertones and a matte finish. The consistency was somewhat powdery, though it wasn’t particularly prone to fallout, and it maintained its near-opaque coverage in a single layer when blended out. You’ll want to add a bit more product on top if full coverage is desired. The eyeshadow applied evenly and blended out with ease. It stayed on nicely for eight hours before fading noticeably.

This palette looks kind of like a condensed version of the ABH Sultry palette. I like that it contains distinctly different shades, with two matte, two shimmer and two sparkly. I’m glad to see it performed well, and I love your eye look.

I think I’m about to break one of my own rules concerning PET glitter eyeshadows. This one seems to have so much finer texture of a glitter that I don’t see it as being dangerous, but that’s just my opinion. Besides, I missed out on getting ABH Sultry and this looks almost like a dupe of that as a mini, so this may quell that other lemming.

Okay, scratch that! I thought Nabla was available at Sephora but I was mistaken (I probably had it confused with Huda). However – oh joy – I had to go to Shoppers Drug Mart yesterday to get a number of things my mother in law needed (her PSW asked that we pick up some things) and to get a tube of Embryolisse and what should I see in this stand display of various items from several brands – a LORAC e/s palette. It was the Unzipped Gold palette – not colours I need – a few are a bit too warm – but I was that excited I nearly bought it on the spot but my purchases had already been tallied. But next week I just might go for it – 20% off on Thursdays and I can pay the rest with Optimum points!
