Bite Beauty Cognac & Red Velvet Power Move Lip Crayons Reviews & Swatches
Cognac
Bite Beauty Cognac Power Move Creamy Matte Lip Crayon ($24.00 for 0.05 oz.) is a deep, reddish-brown with subtle, warm undertones and a cream finish. It had nearly opaque pigmentation in a single layer, which adhered evenly and smoothly across my lips.
The texture was creamy, smooth with light slip as it went on, but it seemed to be a little thinner (relative to how it felt going on) with a touch of tackiness that ensured it stayed in place over the five and a half hours it lasted for. The formula felt comfortable and hydrating while worn.
This seemed slightly darker and not quite as warm-toned compared to the shade in the previous formula.

Formula Overview
$24.00/0.05 oz. - $480.00 Per Ounce
The formula is supposed to have "bold, one-swipe color" paired with a "comfortable, creamy-matte finish" that is hydrating. The pencil includes a built-in sharpener as well. There's a lightly sweetened, herbal lemon scent but no discernible taste (similar to past Bite lip products). The texture felt impossibly creamy when swatched--almost like it was melting--and definitely "buttery" was the descriptor that came to mind, but the impressive part was that it did not feel like it melted on my lips.
I was concerned that the product would be too soft and too readily applied to lips, but instead, it just skated on with rich coverage delivered in a single stroke. I felt like I didn't even have to apply a full layer across my lips (as the pencil tip doesn't cover an entire lip area) as there was enough pigmentation to cover my lips by pressing and gently rubbing them together.
As I swatched and applied each shade, I found that they were particularly flattering on as they went on smoothly, didn't emphasize lip lines or lip texture, and had even coverage. They were comfortable to wear with moderate slip, though I didn't personally experience the product feathering or bleeding on me (but keep in mind, I'm not prone to either). They lasted between four and six hours with deeper shades lasting longer and having subtle stains left behind. The formula felt lightly to moderately hydrating over time.

Red Velvet
Bite Beauty Red Velvet Power Move Creamy Matte Lip Crayon ($24.00 for 0.05 oz.) is a medium-dark red with cooler undertones and a satin finish. It seemed to have the barest amount of ultra-fine pearl to it, which gave it a more luminous, smoother look when applied to my lips.
It had nearly opaque color payoff in a single pass, which applied evenly and smoothly to my lips without dragging. The consistency felt smooth and creamy as it was applied, but it ended up feeling lighter and a little thinner with a touch of tackiness that kept it in place–if it stayed as creamy as it felt, I definitely had a frisson of fear it would feather but did not have any trouble there. This shade stayed on nicely for six hours, left a faint stain behind, and was lightly moisturizing.
The color was darker and cooler-toned compared to the shade in the previous formula.

Oh wow! Red Velvet looks soooo good on. I’m a sucker for a nice cool-toned red.
These are both so beautiful and classic looking! Having great dupes for Red Velvet, I’m looking at Cognac as a possible future purchase once I make a bigger dent in MAC Paramount and Deep Love.
Glad Bite’s reformulated lip stick formula is performing well. Cognac is beautiful! I may that one up.
Red Velvet looks deserving of its name. It’s so beautiful on you.
I really love that so far the new Bite formula is proving to be a good formula. Red Velvet is beautiful and a likely purchase in the future.
Both are gorgeous shades and rate well. Cognac would be my favourite.
Love the, both ?
Bite Cognac, reminds me of the beautiful SUQQU Ichijiku lipstick, maybe a bit browner. Such a unique, (but long time discontinued) lipstick.
Cognac is unreal, I’m SUCH a sucker for deeper reds like that…
If it wasn’t for my 2020 resolution of slowing down on my beauty purchases, I’d be all over Cognac! Absolutely gorgeous. Probably means I need to go give the dark reds and browns I already own some love!
