- Or successfully resist temptation?

?What were your favorites from the last month? Intl’l shipping is often slow to Canada so sometimes I get confused about release dates. I just received my ColourPop Flutter By palette yesterday and I haven’t had a huge opportunity to get to know it, but I’m loving what I’m seeing and feeling, Super impressed! I am also loving my PMG Divine Rose palette. The two together are perfect core products for me.
?What didn’t impress you? I love Pat McGrath, but Pat McGrath ?! the debacle around Divine Rose rollout, and my shipment mix-up missing out on sale items I had purchased
?Did you return anything you purchase? Yes, I purchased two shades of ABH Luminous Foundation using the ColorIQ based on two other face products I favour. I didn’t even really have to open them to know they were not going to work. The shades were so dark 220N and 250C and just utterly wrong. I was hopeful the 250C would be a great cool light olive shade. It’s not. I also have a neutral peachy pink tone to my skin, so I can also pull off neutral shades leaning this way as well. 220N is more of a warm yellowy peach.. They instantly went back.
?♀️Or successfully resist temptation? I was WEAK, very weak. ‘Nuff said.
What were your favorites from the last month? Kaleidos Astro-Pink palette, Em Cosmetics Gloss in Secret Blush, PMGL MTHRSHP Subliminal Platinum Bronze (that name is so long), ABH x Jackie Aina palette (really any of my ABH palettes), Bite Beauty Amuse Bouche lipsticks, Flower Beauty Petal Pout Lipsticks in Autumn Rose, Missha M BB Cream.
What didn’t impress you? I was hoping I’d be more impressed with the Huda Beauty Obsessions Nude Rich palette… I like it, but I thought the tones would be a little more rosy and a little less intense? It’s hard to describe. It looks different on the eyes than it does in the pan. I also wanted more from my Hourglass Ghost Unlocked palette; again, I like it, but after all the hype it got, I expected more? But powder products hard for me to find and like.
Did you return anything you purchase? I didn’t.
Or successfully resist temptation? I resisted the Sephora/Ulta Black Friday/Cyber Monday sales. I really didn’t purchase a whole lot on Black Friday.
What were your favorites from the last month? CP Going Coconuts and that first part of their Butterfly collection, BB Crushed liquid lipsticks, Sydney Grace cream eyeshadows, Lisa Eldridge Velvet Lipsticks. And, hard to recall if it was this past month or the one before, but PMG Divine Rose Mothership VII,
What didn’t impress you? Almost everything else ColourPop put out. It’s their inclusion of pressed glitter shadows in almost every palette combined with the fact that they put out too much too fast. It’s honestly a turnoff for me.
Did you return anything you purchase? Sadly, yes. Tom Ford Honeymoon quad went back. I gave up on making it work. There are far better versions of those shades…right within my stash, had I not been so lazy as to not look before buying. Especially better red eyeshadows, like, UD Gash, PMG Crimson Fire and Blitz Flame, Coloured Raine Noblewoman, and ABH x Jackie Aina Wiggalese.
Or successfully resist temptation? Oh, TONS of things! Mostly because I needed several pairs of more comfy jeans, so more funds went towards clothing than makeup this past month. My recent weight gain has had me feeling very down in the dumps and defeated. 12-13 lbs. in just a few months due to a new medication, so my clothing went up a size. Oy vey. ?
I hear you, Nancy:
I’ve taken up the not so cost effective habit of buying the jeans I love the most in two sizes. I started a whole new drug program in later summer and gained 15 pounds without even blinking. I think I am finally ‘acclimated’ and the weight has come off. I’m tall, 5’10”, so it’s not very noticeable, but it still makes denim a big challenge, esp skinny jeans. Rather than fight it, I usually have two pairs on hand.. or even for the days where I get bloated. I have to be super careful with what I eat and after decades of never having problems with food, my autoimmune is beginning to gives me IBS symptoms so I have to steer clear of dairy (cheese..the torture!), legumes, coffee (I cheat every once in awhile) and alcohol.. no cocktail hour glass of wine…Le Sigh!!
Hang in there ?
Hang in there!
Oh, and Hang in there.. repeating myself too…
I’m trying, Wednesday, I’m trying! Sometimes hanging by a thread, but hanging in there by the grace of God. The good news? I’ll have quite a few pairs of 12’s waiting for me once I drop a good 12-15 lbs. These 14’s will carry me till then, I hope. Some of my high waisted 12’s still do fit, but not the mid rises. They *do* zip up, but they look absolutely terrible. Like I’ve got a bad beer belly or something. I’m just hoping this doesn’t set off my old mad dieting behavior again.
I really enjoy form fitting clothing, like things that hug my body, but do not look stretched and tight. I’m in pretty good shape for a 56 year old, have been naturally lean my whole life…still, I enjoy the help of a really good body smoother. Spanx are fabulous and have come a long way in terms of comfort. I have a nude and a black Spanx which covers me from just under my breasts to mid thigh. When I wear a sweater dress, it looks SO.MUCH.BETTER. Maybe this isn’t something you do every day, but if you are going out and want to look your absolute best, try a pair and they will help you with the jean problem around the mid section. One of my very good friends turned me on to these. She has a couple of very inexpensive pairs and seems happy with. Anyhow, just a way to boost yourself and feel confident! ?
What were your favorites from the last month? THAT I BOUGHT: Huda Beauty Mercury Retrograde Palette and Nude Obsessions Palette in Light, Pat McGrath Divine Rose and Nocturnal Nirvana palettes, CP Going Coconuts Palette, Fenty Beauty Killawatt Foil Freestyle Highlighter in Rubie Richez, and MAC Lipglass in Counting Stars.
THAT I DIDN’T BUY: I was really impressed by Chanel’s holiday collection. It was beautiful, high quality, and perfectly curated.
What didn’t impress you? I like what I bought. THAT I DIDN’T BUY: Anastasia Norvina Mini Palettes, MAC holiday star collection lipsticks, Melt Amor Eterno Liquid Lipsticks, CP Pony Park Collection
Did you return anything you purchased? No
Or successfully resist temptation? Melt Muerte Palette and Iluminacion Digital Dust Highlight, CP Flutter By 12-Pan Pressed Powder Shadow Palette, Anastasia lipgloss and liquid lipstick vaults
What were your favorites from the last month?
My Pixi Beauty Reflex Light palette, Vice 2, my Colour Pop lipsticks
What didn’t impress you?
Colour Pop continuing to include pressed glitter in their palettes. It turns me off purchasing their eyeshadows.
Did you return anything you purchase?
No, no returns
Or successfully resist temptation?
Yes, I didn’t really purchase any beauty products during the sales – I just didn’t need any more. But I did purchase some skincare that was on sale.
What were your favorites from the last month? Those Sydney Grace Cream Eyeshadows, the Lisa Eldridge lippies, and Tati’s palette (was that this month?).
What didn’t impress you? Colourpop’s endless releases (but hey, “fast fashion” is their marketing strategy, right?), none of the holiday offerings from the big brands have tempted me at all this year.
Did you return anything you purchase? I purchased the Essence Plumping Nudes lipgloss in 04 That’s Big on the advice of a Youtuber. Looked gorgeous, great shade, wore well, destroyed my lips in a day. Tried wearing numerous balms under it & prepping but ultimately had to toss it. Whadddya want for $3.99?
Or successfully resist temptation? I’m not really tempted this year by anything but the Lisa Eldridge lippies which have sold out. I might get Tati’s palette later on if I am in the US next year.
