I read a comment from a girl on Twitter that this looks identical to the ABH Sultry palette and now I can’t get that out of my head because she’s kinda right… I see many similarities although it’s not 100% the same.

It appears that Urban Decay was “inspired” by Anastasia’s Sultry Palette, as they also included a peachy pop of color. This might be a wonderful palette for someone that is looking for a neutral or classic palette, but I probably have several dupes for each shade, so it’s an easy pass for me.

Sam Avatar

My husband and I were chatting when this came up on instagram this morning and we argued about whether those are orchids or irises in the background. And then we were like… none of those colors are really orchid or iris colors anyway. Haha it just struck me as very weird choice!

Cjay Avatar

Sorry, but, UD must think I’m dumb. First they put out 3 Naked palettes. Then they do Naked Smokey and Naked Heat and Naked Cherry…which I get.

But then they retired the original Naked and now they are putting out Naked “Reloaded” like a year later? Do they think I don’t remember things?

Yvette Avatar

Passing cuz I don’t need it but it will make a nice replacement for the Naked 1 palette, and yes it also reminds me of ABH Sultry palette, not sure how that happened. Anyway the video is so soft focused that you can barely see anything Wende puts on her lids, insert annoying eye-roll here.

Like(d) N3,2,1 in that order. Brown based palettes are difficult for me; the only one that ever really worked was KVD Monarch, which I never would have gotten, except for the T review. This is reminiscent of Sultry, but I think the development time suggests N-R must have been in the works long before Sultry came out, so I doubt it is truly derivative. Sorry, but this is very meh to me. it’s easy to rule out stuff unlikely to work for you. (Now, more SG colors, cools are a different kettle of fish! ) This is certainly not cutting edge, nor does it fill a void in the m/u world. And the universal/ diversity language in the copy seems like pandering to me. But, suspect it could do very well.>>> So many cos are more interested in the up and coming customers than those with existing big stashes and 3 dupes for each shade!

I very much like the models they chose for their promo shots, the differing pan sizes are also a surprise. I won’t get it because I have a barely touched original Naked palette and I really haven’t enjoyed the last few things I purchased from UD but fingers crossed that it’s good.

First off, I have to say that I absolutely love the shades in this far more than ANY of the previous Naked palettes. Not too warm, not too cool, and certainly not as dull looking in tone as the 3 Naked palettes I already own (1, 2 and Smoky). I’m feeling a bit of ABH Sultry vibe going on, just not as cool toned. If it reviews as beautifully as it appears, I will buy it as one of the few e/s palettes I’m allowing myself this year.

Z Avatar

I want to love this and I want to buy it. But, to ME, “naked” shadows aren’t so pink/coral/warm. On my skin more neutral browns, grays, and champagnes are where it’s at. Sorry to say, but pass.

Although I am delighted that the beauty industry has finally made some progress acknowledging that people exist beyond the traditional (white, young, thin, female, heteronormative, wealthy) consumer base, I am ambivalent about the effort to market this palette as “universally flattering” and “designed for everyone–any age, gender, and skin tone.” UD: self-congratulatory copy does not make a warm-toned palette “universally flattering.” And at least if you’re going to say that, put someone in your ad campaign who is obviously over age 25…

When I heard about this palette I was not in the least bit interested. I haven’t been on social media a lot recently. I have done targeted visits but didn’t see anything about this palette or any pictures. Now that I have seen it, I am pleasantly surprised by the shades. I really kind of like it and am not too sure why. Something about it appeals to me regardless of the fact I am sure I have these shades many times over. I do love when shades I love are all in one palette and I really don’t see a shade here that I hate and wouldn’t use. It is definitely a warm e/s palette which is something else I have too many of but this does include a nice matte brow bone shade. I will have to wait and see how it reviews and decide whether I would use it enough to have it be one of the two palettes I am allowing myself this year.

For anyone in the Los Angeles area, their giving away free Naked Reloaded palettes at the Grove tomorrow, starting at 12 noon. As far as I can tell from the email, all you have to do is trade in any neutral eyeshadow palette… (I personally can’t be bothered to stand in line, or deal with the chaos, but I thought I’d pass on the information to anyone willing to endure all of that!)

Terri Avatar

I don’t get it, this looks like a whole lot of… orange. Not in the palette, but in the swatches. These aren’t neutral or nude, they’re shades of 70’s orange velour and a couple of browns. I know I’m not a professional MUA, but this looks like twelve shadows that will create several redundant looks. I’m sure I’ll see otherwise over time. I’m genuinely confused by the backslide in the cycle of retro fashion, though. We’re going 80’s, 90’s,…70’s??

Agona Avatar

Yeah, I always find that interesting too that sometimes the industry goes “retro” until they find something that sticks. So it feels like they cycle through a bunch of different decades until they find something that takes hold with the current audience.

xamyx Avatar

I would have said the same about Retro, but after buying the ABH Sultry palette, I’ve found the shade Bloom to actually be quite useful. I do have relatively deep-set eyes, and a prominent brow ridge, but using it as a transition shade makes the overall look not so “heavy”. I thought it seemed like a random pick, but after trying it, I realized what the purpose of it actually was.

Staci Evangeline Avatar

If it gets a good grade here, I’ll buy it. I haven’t been buying many pallets. I think I bought two all of last year. I’m do for some new eyeshadow. This seeks really useable to me. I’m hoping they didn’t include one of their glitter fallout shades.

TropicalCowgirl Avatar

I remember the OG being completely sold out. It was like a unicorn. Then I got it and loved it. I’ve replaced 4 times. I stopped buying/collecting Naked palettes after Heat. I couldn’t get into cherry and gave away my MR. i had gf’s visit last week and I gave away my Naked 3 and Born to Run (I used it once) and I see 2 going next. I also gave my friend my Kevin Aucoin face palette knowing I was going to stick with my CT duo and get the darker one.

I did buy CT Pillow Talk shadow and blush last week and truly love them. I have only used my Charlotte Tilsbury, ND, and Pat McGrath’s the past 3 months, ironically all by renown makeup artists.

I do like the idea of the bigger pans but I see most using Bucked over Boundaries. The two end caps are very similar. I’d rather have a champagne like Sidecar instead Retro. That bright peach is not something I find “universally flattering”. I am so over peach getting overdone…it’s like that horse has been beaten to death, and companies are sifting the sand for remnants to beat more. I do like everything to the right of Retro though. Wende could have really taken this to the next level by putting two Moondust toppers like Space Cowboy, Horizon, or Midnight Blast. Pat, Charlotte, Natasha and even Tom Ford do this. I love Space Cowboy to do a shimmery pop. It blurs any lines and gives a dewy look.

I’ll have to see in person but I’m no longer allowing myself to buy palettes this size for 3 colors. The fact I can use almost every color in my PM 10 pan palettes is a testament to a very thoughtfully curated palette. I can even use the red in the bronze one as a blush and other colors as highlighters.

Suni Avatar

Well, I like it and it’s going to be my first naked palette. I liked sultry but I am not fun of how soon abh palettes expired. I read about other people complaining of lack of pigmentation after a year plus I am not fan either of how powdery they are. I am a Mac girl. So this palette suits me better. Ud Shimmers don’t pop as much as abh so it’s better for my wrinkly lids. Yeah, I think I will give a chance to reloaded since it has my everyday colors.

MichelleChefNYC Avatar

Am I the only one who wishes UD would just pick a packaging scheme for these Naked palettes and just stick with it? Like you took the time to reformat and update the original Naked palette and you come up with yet another type of packaging, which looks chintzy to me TBH… Could they not have done a nice case like the Smoky, Cherry and Heat palettes have? This is a hard pass for me, way too many dupes for products I already have and I have come to realize over time that UD’s formula is one I just really don’t like…

Lauren Avatar

Angel Fire is in the Heavy Metals palette – and it isn’t one that I really like. It is just ok. I’ve near panned my Naked 2 (yet again – I love that palette) so when I go pick another up I’ll swatch these and see what I think and also check for your review. I do like most of this palette, but I wonder if it will be too similar to other UD options that I have.
