ColourPop Velvet Blur Lux Lipsticks Swatches
ColourPop Velvet Blur Lux Lipstick ($7.00 for 0.12 oz.) is the newest finish on the brand’s traditional bullet lipstick range, and there are 16 shades, which will launch today at 10AM PST. The formula is supposed to have a “soft focus, blurring effect” with buildable color (up to “high impact colour”) with a “silky, velvety” texture that “smooths over fine lines and imperfections” without “drying out your lips.” Here are swatches…
Hmmm. Eager to read reviews to see if, in your opinion, they live up to their “blurring” and line-smoothing claims. They all look good on you, but your lips look perfect even when a formula is less than. If they really can improve the look of my old lips, then sign me right up!
Man, you’re a rockstar for getting these swatches up before the launch. Thanks!! (Is there a way to convince Colourpop to send you things even earlier, so you’d be able to have some reviews ready too? Onr could dream…)
From a quick look, the Lucky Strike + Mesmerize + Y2K seems to be my usual lip color comfort zone, so might order some subset of those along with a couple other things I need to restock from Colourpop to try out this formula. Their original creme Lux Lips are my favorite lipstick formula, but was meh about the Matte ones – but I have dry skin/lips so matte stuff often doesn’t agree with me. Have high hopes for this formula!
As an Asian I can say that this range follows Asian full blotted lips trend, the color range is more brighter than their previous lip shades. And most of all some of the names are inspired from Kpop, which they later confirmed.
Oh no! I shouldn’t have looked at the lip swatches. Because I just saw a few I would LOVE to have for spring/summer! Superbloom, Solo, All Tea are so summery and gorgeous. My biggest question would be how these actually feel while wearing.
I wonder how similar these will be to the “powder matte” lipstick formulas that Shiseido and Mac have put out.
I guess bullet lipsticks are making a comeback?
I am really excited for these! Ive heard they are dupes for the MAC Powder Kiss Lipsticks which I love. I just wish they had some more warm undertones rather than grey/cool. Hopefully the launch goes well and they release more shades.
I wonder if these are replacing their Blotted Lips? I see that some of the liquid Ultra Blotted Lips are still up on ColourPop’s site, but the Blotted Lips (in the same packaging as Lippie Stix) aren’t there anymore.
Apparently they discontinued the Blotted Lips (in Lippie Stix form)
Vignette is definitely on my wishlist! A gorgeous shade and the finish looks good.
Thankyou for putting these up so quickly Christine. You are a legend.
These all look super pretty and if the formula is comfortable I think a lot of people will jump on them. I like the MAC and the Shiseido Powder Lip Formula so will likely want a few of these. Now, do they fill a hole in my collection? I don’t think so. I love Superbloom and have shades that are the same or similar so I think this is a pass for me. Thank you for getting swatches up so quickly. I kind of feel bad when you work so hard to swatch and review and then I just say, pass on these!! I don’t know if I am alone in this or not but I feel like I should buy at least one since you worked so hard on it. I am thankful for all that you do Christine!
Unpopular opinion, perhaps, but I am not feeling it. I don’t see anything remarkable about the finish and I prefer a bit more gloss anyhow.
No, no, no! Colourpop needs to stop coming out with gorgeous lipsticks that tempt me. It’s not fair!!! I’m trying to control myself. So many pretty shades and a new formula that targets fine lines! What’s a girl supposed to do? If I didn’t already own a triple-digit lipstick collection, I might consider Lucky Strike and Alchemist.
I picked up a trio of these (Fake Love, Sorry Not Sorry & Alchemist) and I can’t wait to try them! I love this type of formula.
