OCC Authentic Lip Tar
A More Wearable Lip Tar, But It Still Has Pizzazz!
OCC Authentic Lip Tar ($16.00 for 0.33 fl. oz.) is described as a “full strength copper metallic.” It’s a rich orange-shimmered copper-brown with red-orange undertones. LUSH Vibrance has a similar orange shimmer, but the base color is less brown. MAC Look at Her! is more red-based. NYX Sparkling Beige is less orange, browner, and has more of a champagne sparkle.
Authentic is completely opaque and so, so smooth. Â It has such a beautiful consistency that still yields that rich, metallic sheen that characterizes the latest launch of Lip Tars. Â It’s warm-toned, but it has a very rusted tone, and it’s almost muted (but the metallic sheen means it will never play a background role!). Â This is another shade that would work well to add a coppery shimmer/sheen to other shades, like reds. Â I tested this yesterday, and it lasted eight hours, including dinner and tea (my nighttime drink).

Unfortunately, I have such dry lips that those lip tar only accentuate the dryness, otherwise I will get them all!
Are these lip tars smooth when applied on lips? Similar to nyx soft matte lip cream?
I haven’t tried NYX’s Soft Matte Lip Cream, sorry! The Lip Tars are smooth to me!
They have similar textures, at least the one I have tried.

I have bought 3 lip tars and, for the life of me, cannot figure out how to wear them. They’re so slippery. Do you add them to lipstick? Do you mix them together? I mean the colors are beautiful, but how to do it?
How much are you using? You should be using like a grain of rice at most!
Yep…using much more than that. Are you supposed to put just a little over your regular lipstick? So confused…lol.
I’d recommend trying this:
1.) Squeeze a grain of rice amount onto a lip brush.
2.) Apply the color using a lip brush.
3.) Get a TINY bit more if you find you need more.
A little should be all you need for a full application – nothing underneath! 🙂

So, basically, these are just a stain?
I really love the color that it is as it comes out naturally.
My lips are really pigmented, so I don’t think a stain would really work.
I guess I should have just ordered one to try it out instead of 3. lol.

They’re not a stain – they are absolutely lipstick – you just don’t need a lot for 100% opaque coverage! 🙂
The tiny brushes that comes with the lip tars are small for a reason 🙂 I tend to apply very very small bits at a time and blend. You’ll be shocked at how little you need for 100% opaque coverage. Have fun!

Wow, these past few lip tars you’ve reviewed are amazing.
I think they’re taking a fall scheme too literally. I guess I’m just not a fan of frosts like that because they remind me of the 90’s. Points for going where most other brands won’t, however! It looks good on you, as well. 🙂

I really love this eyeshadow look! I don’t think I could pull this color off by itself, but I can see it mixing well with so many other colors. Beautiful!

Think of Lip Tars as liquid lipstick – they’re just lipstick in a liquid form, so they feel, act, and look like a lipstick!
