Chanel Coco Noir Eau de Parfum for Fall 2012

This September: Chanel Coco Noir Eau de Parfum

“Before me, no one would have dared dress in black,” Gabrielle Chanel once said. Black, an iconic colour of Chanel, now inspires a luminous new fragrance for women: COCO NOIR. Striking top notes of Grapefruit and Bergamot accentuate the floral accord with Rose and Jasmine, while Indonesian Patchouli and Sandalwood notes add warmth to the seductive scent.

Created by Jacques Polge, master perfumer at Chanel, COCO NOIR marks a return to Oriental fragrances for the House. Recalling his journey to unveil the mystery of black through fragrance, Monsieur Polge explains, “The night vision of the ‘Orient that starts and ends in Venice’ imposed itself upon me, and that is where I wanted to go.”

Availability: September 2012 — Eau de parfum Spray is $98/1.7 oz. and $130/3.4 oz.

for some reason, I am attracted to any perfume that includes the word “black” or “noir(e)” (my all time favourite perfume being Tom Ford’s Black Orchid), so I am really interested in seeing what this new Chanel perfume is like…!!!! I hope it won’t disappoint me…!

” Black Orchid ” is much better ( to my mind ), more intense and with personality in it. ” Coco Noir ” well, disappointing though the bottle is fine. Price here is around 130 € so far I know ( full size, 100 ml ).

Hmm, I don’t know about this one. The bottle looks so similar to Coco Chanel, and the price point is as high as Number 5! It’s always interesting to see a new fragrance from Chanel, but I worry that this will be too similar to their other fragrances.

This could be interesting for me as I wore Coco Mademoiselle for years and used to get compliments everywhere. I remember moving and having to switch banks and set up all new accounts and the bank manager embarrassingly asked me what perfume I was wearing. His face went beet red.. I think he wanted to dry hump my leg. LoL

The bottle is really beautiful but the perfume is not ! It’s a bit above ” low cost ” perfumes but nothing more and nothing special to say about Coco Noir. What a pity, I expected so much from this new Chanel perfume !

Ugh. Totally morally opposed to both Coco and Karl but I WANT! I know these are first world problems but they can feel quite heart rending!

Sounds interesting and I’ll definitely take a waft next time I go to the wall. It sounds like it has a lot of similar notes to that Spadaro line you’ve reviewed. Thanks to your suggestion, I got samples from her and I think it was the Noche one which had Bergamot, Patchouli and Sandalwood. The Sole Nero one had Grapefruit, pepper, Bergamot, sandalwood and musk, so again quite a bit of overlap. But Chanel’s sounds like they’ve thrown in the whole kitchen sink given that it has all that *and* also rose and jasmine too. Hm. I’m intrigued but I wonder if it has *too* much.

Yet *another* fragrance with all my favorite notes! I’m a complete sucker for bergamot… Then, add rose, jasmine, *and* patchouli? I’m going to seriously go broke. Maybe I can convince my mom to buy them, then “borrow” them, she’ll discover they’re not “for her”, and they’ll end up with me.

Ha, sneakiest makeup purchasing plan ever! But smell it first before you decide you’re going to use your mom as a patsy. I can’t stop laughing at your plan. So funny.

I’m excited to smell it whether I end up liking it or not but by the description I have the feeling I might, and I am LOVING those photos so much!!!
