5 Ocean-Inspired Eyeshadows
5 Ocean-Inspired Eyeshadows
When I think of the ocean, I think of blue, green, and teal all merged into one. Depending on the depth and clarity of the water, you might a really smoldering blue, maybe something closer to blackened blue, and at other times, a beautiful translucent aqua blue. I could have easily chosen five more shades for this topic, LOL! There were so many amazing shades to choose from.
- Illamasqua Burst — matte blue-teal
- Le Metier de Beaute Midnight Sky — shimmering blackened blue
- NARS South Pacific — clear aqua blue
- MAC Freshwater — perfect medium blue
- Maybelline Tenacious Teal — silver-shimmered light-medium blue
hey i think these are all beautiful, i love colours like these smudged into my lashline!!
btw – i think the metier de beaute pic isn’t correct!
MAC Clarity is also a nice one.
Oh I’m drooling. I love blues, and these are amazing!
the image for the le metier eyeshadow is the same as the illamasqua.
I think the second photo may be wrong. Very lovely colour by the way.
Thank you!
I like MAC Deep Truth. I don’t have many blues, though.
I’m so fond of that shade – one of my original MAC shades.
I picked it up in either my first or second MAC haul (I was picking up about ten at a time back then). I don’t really wear much blue, but that one really called to me. The first thing I thought of was the ocean.
Ohhhhhhh, the Metier de Beauté one…… ohhhhhh! I can’t wear medium or aqua blues, let alone pastels, with my olive skin and seemingly black eyes, but I love darkened navy blues. How close do you think that MdB one is to L’Oreal’s Infallible in Midnight Blue or to NARS’ Night Flight? I love the colour of Night Flight: http://makeupforlife.net/wp-content/uploads/2009/07/nars-night-flight-single-eyeshadow.jpg It can be a bit tricky and dry to apply, but the colour is so worth it to me. I like to put it in the crease when I wear purples, medium greys or greens, but I also like it just by itself with a shimmery white highlighting colour on the brow bone and inner eye, and with a silverish eyeliner.
It’s probably a little darker, more intense than the Infallible, but I’m going off of memory for that one (I don’t think I’ve reviewed it yet). Night Flight is probably darker/blacker.
Thank you. For some reason, I had thought you’d reviewed the Infallibles Midnight Blue and hated it. But it was my mistake because I’d confused it with the really similar looking Armani ETK shade that you thought was dry, patchy and impossible to work with. Phewwww! I really like the look of that MdB eyeshadow but I’ll hold off until you get around to reviewing Midnight Blue because I suspect they’re pretty close.
Or at the very least, close enough not to warrant the $20 price difference… It’s a gorgeous shade, but shimmery navy blues are common enough, IMO!
@Kafka Did you see Christine’s review/swatches of Burberry Midnight Blue? It’s *amazing*. If you haven’t seen it, you *must*, ASAP!
Urban Decay Peace is quite pretty!
PD: YAY for the change to the old posting comments format. I couldn’t really get over LiveFyre, I had lots of troubles signing in there…
Ooh, yes, UD Peace is gorgeous!
gorgeous 😀 i love this kind of blue
Mmm, these are beautiful! I want some bright makeup to wear to a Caribbean themed party next week so I might take a look at these 🙂
Pixi’s Mermaid palette in its entirety.
I want to do a blue look now 🙂
I don’t wear a lot of blue shadows but one that is stunning is UD Evidence, from the 15th anniversary palette.
TKB Trading- Coral Reef and Sapphire, Urban Decay- Shattered which looks just like Mac’s Partylicious.
These kind of colors sing to my soul! I really need to pick up Illamasqua Burst. I’ve got a lot of blue-based teals, because they’re my favorite. Illamasqua Intense is a favorite, Cult Nails Living Water and Hypnotize Me, especially combined.
I love, and wear, these bright blues (on my lids) even though I have blue eyes. Do you think this looks ridiculous, or ok Christine?
Not at all ridiculous!
