Tom Ford Fougere d’Argent Eau de Parfum ($235.00 for 1.7 fl. oz.) opened with as a fizzy and spicy mix with the mandarin and ginger notes being most prominent to my nose; it was a bit sharp to me initially but within a few minutes, it was much smoother. The lavender’s presence was more noticeable when I took in the scent as a whole, whereas I was able to pick out the mandarin and spiciness in the ginger when I tried. In the initial hour or so of wear, it was a warm and spicy with subtle sweetness and light mandarin playing with the ginger and a whisper of woods.

As the fragrance wore on, the cistus note comes through along with the akigalawood, and it smells more like a subtly spiced, woody fragrance with a resinous quality and slight sweetness. It was definitely a drier scent that I’d describe as robust but not as much as a punch in the face as some of the other Tom Ford Private Blends can be–this just seems to be smoother and particularly well-blended. The fragrance is designed to be unisex, but if I had to describe it as one or the other, it seemed more like more masculine scents on the market.

A lot of my favorite Tom Ford Private Blends are quite potent, and I’d describe this one as moderate-to-heavy–it had noticeable projection for the first hour, and then sat closer to the skin but took about 12 hours before it came a true skin scent on me (but worth noting, I very rarely have problems with fragrance longevity). My favorite Tom Ford scents include Amber Absolute (discontinued), Bois Marocain, Lavender Palm (discontinued), Neroli Portofino, Oud Wood, Plum Japonais, and Tobacco Vanille.

I have several of the more recently released fragrances by Tom Ford (tested but not reviewed), but this is one that had me sitting up from the first spritz. It is totally in my wheelhouse, but I love that it’s not as heavy hitting as Amber Absolute but not so shy that it doesn’t deserve the Private Blend label. It’s a new favorite for me, and I love smelling it on myself as well as my husband!

Temptalia, will you be reviewing the new Gucci Westman makeup line? It launched at Barneys and I haven’t seen any reviews of it yet. I trust your opinions so was hoping to see a review before I try anything.

And Wayne Goss Cosmetics is coming, slowly. Pretty sure they will launch on Beautylish, eventually. (Duh.). I could get psyched for that. This TF certainly does not sound like a classic fougere, but pretty decent blend. I scored Terre d’Hermes (men’s/unisex) from the Nordie’s sale, when I was unable to score the men’s Creed discovery set. Bummer. Guess I’ll have to get a Nordie’s card and not wait for open season.
