NARS Wanted Velvet Lip Glide Set Review & Swatches
Wanted
NARS Wanted Velvet Lip Glide Set ($45.00 for 0.72 oz.) is a new, Ulta-exclusive six-shade set of lip glosses in shades of pink and brown. They have an autumnal vibe to me without being vampy, which I’d say makes them more “wearable” for more people. There are some repeats here, so anyone who’s picked up the singles or sets in the past may want to check their stash for duplicates. The quality was good, but a couple of shades weren’t quite as good as this formula can get.
Wanted
LELimited Edition. $45.00.
District
District is a medium, pink-coral with warm undertones and a cream finish. It had semi-opaque pigmentation that applied fairly evenly across my lips, but there was slight product that gathered in my lip lines. This particular shade had a more watery texture (and sheerer coverage) than most of the Velvet Lip Glides I’ve tried. The color lasted for three hours and was lightly hydrating.

Formula Overview
$26.00/0.2 oz. - $130.00 Per Ounce
It's supposed to be a hybrid between lipstick and lipgloss that is hydrating, richly pigmented, and comfortable to wear. They have stronger color payoff, a non-tacky consistency, and a smoothness to their consistency that is a lot like a good lipstick, while they have a plusher, thicker texture that gives lips a plumper, fuller look along with a glossy sheen that is more like a gloss.
Some of the lighter shades settled into lip lines, but it varied from shade to shade. The wear varied between three and five hours for me, which is more like a gloss than a lipstick. They develop a more “velvety” finish, which is code for “less shine” after two to three hours, and at that point, they tend to look more like a natural finish lipstick than a gloss.
I would classify the formula more as a pigmented gloss than a glossy lipstick, if I had to put it firmly in one box. The formula has a vanilla scent but had no discernible taste to me.

Swing
Swing is a light brown with subtle, warm undertones and a cream finish. The pigmentation was good, though not opaque, while the product had a lightweight, mostly non-sticky texture that was thin and spreadable but not clingy. There was a smidgen of product that sat in my deeper lip lines, though it wasn’t noticeable from a normal viewing distance. This shade stayed on nicely for four hours and felt hydrating while worn.

Lure
Lure is a muted, medium-dark orange-brown with warm undertones and a cream finish. It had good color coverage that applied evenly but did get into some of my lip lines. Thankfully, it wasn’t noticeable from a normal viewing distance due to the shine of the finish. The texture was lightweight, smooth, and easy to work with. It wore well for four hours and was lightly moisturizing.

Your face picture for Roseland made me think I was drunk… which makes no sense because it’s 12pm and I’ve only had coffee haha. You look beautiful as always Christine! Love your eyebrows, they look great!
Ah! So sorry! I noticed that last night when I was writing up the review (the Roseland image opacity’s accidentally was at 10%, that’s why it’s all wonky, as it’s 10% on top of the one under it) and replaced it but forgot to delete the bad image.
Oh, #$%&!!!!! I really can’t spend more money right now and I just bought a NARS lip set, but I still totally want this set!
I don’t need it. I can dupe every shade, but still I want it.
Must. Stay. Strong.
You can resist!
Lure reminds me of Bite Dirty Chai a bit…
I can see slight similarity!
Thanks so much. As I suspected, the set is a bit too pink for my preferences. glad I got the nude set from Nordie’s, instead. I do love the VLG formula, though. I do like the brown leaning ones. Think i’ll see if any are FS. Did wear Bound today, and have worn Stripped, so maybe by color tolerance is widening. Hmm, possibly with Ulta Bucks.
Good call, KJH!
Honestly I love this set. Swing in particular is a very sexy, subtle color to me, although I wonder if I could mimic the effect with gloss over Dolce Vita. Lure and Roseland are also gorgeous.
Glad you’re digging the set, Blue!
These are such perfectly lovely “throw & go” types of everyday shades. I am so tempted to get this set! Except that I likely have enough of these types of colors.
They are easy to wear!
I’m a big fan of these mini Lip Glide sets from NARS! The formula’s great, nice range of colors, and very reasonably priced if you catch an Ulta 20% off deal or 5x points. I can never finish a full size lippie, so these mini sizes are great, easy to store, easy to carry, and so many colors to choose from.
I’m glad they keep releasing sets!
I got this set from Mecca last week and I have to say, I absolutely adore it. I’d not tried the Lip Glides before and I’m a huge fan of the formula (I don’t usually wear gloss, so it hadn’t pinged on my radar) but it is LOVELY. And super hydrating!
And I can wear every single shade from this set easily – I actually have Roseland on right now.
The formula is usually a bit better overall, but they aren’t bad here!
Is vampy nudes/mlbbs a thing? Spark is my fave!
That s a pretty one!
I love the look of Spark and own Roseland, the rest are too warm and brownish for me.
It’s a versatile set, full of everyday wearable shades and good value too.
I love how even the color spreads out with these…I’m not used to that from glossy type products lol
