Do people really use those tiny eyeshadow sponge brush things? I think it would make more sense to ditch them and use the space to make the eyeshadow pans a little bigger.
Seraphine, the Chanel “sponge tipped” (they’re not traditional sponge, really) are actually VERY good and I regret now having tossed out so many of them. They work really well with the Chanel Tisse formula of shadows.
Sadly, even if these all work well, I no longer have a Chanel counter anywhere near where I live and I won’t go out of my way to purchase products any more. However, the chubby pencils look identical to those from my beloved Lise Watier (most of the colours even look similar) so I’ll content myself with those.
Interesting. I’ve only used the cheap sponge applicators from drugstore brands when I was younger and I remember bad they were and how they’d fall apart. Those were the days before I learned about brushes and blending!
They do wonders for poor pigmented eyeshadows, but yes they fall apart very quick.
It makes the shadows come off more pigmented than using a brush. But I still use brushes lol
I admit I use the little brushes when I’m traveling or on the go. Don’t always want to carry bigger brushes with me and I find it kind of nice to be able to carry the palette. They’re not that bad, as others have said. Then again, I’m known to use my fingers as well!
Seraphine, I have taken my Chanel palettes to work and on vacations and used only the sponge applicators and my fingers to apply my looks. I purchase sponge tip applicators on Amazon because they are perfect for laying down lid color, especially when I want the pigmentation of the colors to be strong.
Oh my! I love these very smokey, yet colorful quads. If either one works out like Empriente du Desert, I’ll be in trouble!
These must not be for me, because I don’t understand the color stories. Seriously, I wouldn’t know what to do with these colors. Dummy me!
I’m not really tempted by either quad, but if I were, my first instinct would probably be to use them:
MYSTERE ET INTENSITE (304) Soft brown, coral, gray-black, plum
brown: transition/crease
coral: inner upper lid
plum: outer upper lid
gray-black: smudged as liner on upper and lower lashline
SPLENDEUR ET AUDACE (306) Copper, green, black, blue
blue: inner-mid upper lid
green: mid-outer upper lid
black: outer corner, outer lashlines
copper: inner-mid lower lashline
But you could experiment with whatever you like, or just use one or two colors at a time! Some of my most used palettes are like that — I just like them for travel, for example, because it’s a more secure way to bring several shades with me, even if I don’t use them all at the same time.
I spoke with an MUA at NM in Chicago and the collection is launching on counters bewteen the end of June/beginning of July in the US. I haven’t seen a promo with Blooming Rose and Nuage Bleu included; they were part of the Spring collection. I’ll try the ombres et coutour sticks and eyeshadow singles, and green cream shadow.
Oh, some cute stuff there!
These are beautiful. I love the quads, especially Splendeur et Audace and the two cream eyeshadows.
I have found the Chanel sponge tips to work pretty well and have taken them traveling instead of brushes. The sponge tip that came with the cream shadow works better than any brush. I hope a CF brand dupes some of the colors in the quads.
I have to say SPLENDEUR ET AUDACE is right up my alley. I also want (most of) the Dior Backstage collection (cheek, eye, and lip). I am awash in nice eyeshadows especially. I’m going to try really hard to pass on all of it.
Linda, Me too, I am really tempted by the new Dior Backstage collection and this one, only it’s the Mystere palette that’s calling my name the loudest. The Dior Backstage highlighter palette will be arriving today (it looked too lovely to resist) along with the deluxe sample of the new foundation. I am trying really hard not to get the eyeshadow palettes. The priming/setting spray is probably going to be purchased next.
Very pretty, but oh no a black in a quad -Le Sigh.
I was just about to comment on the black shades as well. “Le Sigh” LOL!
Mystère et Intensité is my kind of palette. I have warm, dark green eyes and those colors work extremely well for me. I can hardly wait to take it for a test run when it hits the counter. Splendeur et Audace, on the other hand, doesn’t really pique my interest because it has a set of colors that are very similar to some of the ones that are in the Al Fresco palette—a palette which I love by the way.
Mystere is gorgeous! I also have Al Fresco and last spring’s Jardins De Lumieres (which also contains a muted blue and green), so Audace isn’t as compelling to me at the moment. I am also wanting the Kohl eyeliner in Rouge Noir (burgundy).
Hmmm……..This color scheme looks a lot like a slightly more sophisticated version of Subculture.
Being a big kohl kajal wearer I’m loving those stylos!
These are not for me, happy I am not tempted this time! For me a black in a quad is a waste of space as well (like Geneviève stated), but I do like this trend of darker/smokier colour stories in summer collections this year.
Pretty collection 🙂 The Kohl eyeliners in particular look interesting!
I like the looks of the mystere quad snd the black burgundy eyeliner. I haven’t purchased anything Chanel in years though.
