5 Fantastic Matte Blushes to Try

5 Fantastic Matte Blushes to Try

I’ve had several requests to share some more matte finishes in the 5 Ways posts, so I thought blushes might be a nice way to go!

  1. Tarte Blissful — vibrant coral
  2. NARS Exhibit A — rich orange
  3. MAC Mocha — dirty plum pink
  4. Tarte Exposed — neutral beige with pink undertones
  5. Burberry Tangerine — neutral brown-tangerine

What’s your favorite matte blush?

@corallista Thanks! Sorry, this posted really early in the morning and I didn’t have a chance to fix it right away since I was sleeping. Thanks for everyone who commented and emailed! So sorry for being the world’s biggest idiot at all times!

I pretty much only wear matte blush, I just prefer to add shimmer myself with a highlighter if I want it. I love Tarte Blissful, it’s one of my favorites! Another favorite formula is the Illamasqua powder blush – and a favorite color from that line is Hussy.

Even if it’s not easy to wear, Frankly Scarlet from M.A.C. I very often wear it during winter, it gives pretty pink cheeks although it looks red in the box ! Exhibit A from Nars looks gorgeous but I find it bold ( for my skin tone that is ).

awesome you must have read my mind, I was looking for something like this…another question, would you recommend this on nc30 skin tone?  I have been eyeing exposed but don’t know if it would show up on skin.

On the *rare* occasion I actually wear a “colored” blush (I typically just contour/highlight), I almost always reach for a matte finish, unless I’m attending a formal function. My favorite, for a while now, is L’Oreal Mauvelous, which is a great dupe for NARS Sin (which I will try after I get through some of the blush I have). I have personally never understood the desire of shimmery blush for everyday use.

Two diff. ones. First, NARS’ Laguna (the powder, not the multiple). It a lovely golden-brown matte “bronzer” but it’s not bronze-y and definitely doesn’t show up as orange-y.  Not deep red or orange undertones. Just pure golden brown. Very sheer and silky, it’s perfect for contouring or just a natural look. On me, its lovely, natural look doesn’t turn muddy. (My skin colouring is Olive- NC25-30/NC30-37 in summer or MUFE 127 to 155.) Laguna seriously needs more love than it gets. Don’t let mixed reviews for the Laguna Multiple put you off. It’s a totally diff. thing in the powder form.

Second, NARS’ Desire. Please, please, please don’t get put off by the super bright, bubblegum pink in the pan. It does NOT look like that when you put it on. It’s very sheer and gives a completely natural “I just blushed,” “I just exercised” or “I came in from the cold” look on my skin. And I really think it would give super pale beauties that Snow White look. Such a lovely, lovely colour that is actually a lot warmer than it looks (definitely warmer than Angelika) and it creates a perfect pink cheek.  Like all NARS’ super-pigmented shades, you need to go lightly and preferably with a skunk brush. I use it several times a week and, yet, I think it would take me YEARS to hit the pan.

I love Bobbi Brown’s matte blushes.
Powder Pink (a lighter version of Pale Pink – which isn’t pale at all!) is my favorite “everyday” pink blush.
I’m NW15-20.

I LOVE NARS Gilda. It’s looks like a natural brightened, but warm flush to the cheeks. Gina and Exhibit A are my other two favorite matte blushes. Gina is the perfect sorbet orange/peach color that adds warmth/radiance. Exhibit A is easy to go overboard on for any skin tone, but it’s gorgeous.

I’m really glad to see these; I’m not thrilled iwth any of the blushes I have currently and am looking for something new. I like Tarte, so I may pick that up, but I  bought my first Burberry product last Friday (the Sheer Summer Glow compact) and love it so much I may consider this one 🙂 Christine, would the Burberry Tangerine work on a cool-toned NW15 girl like me, do you think?

I really love Frankly Scarlet and Mocha.  I got Frankly Scarlet at a Mac (Freestanding) store.  I’m not sure if FS is still considered a pro color anymore.  It’s scary looking at first glance.  You have to be lighthanded with it – if you do it right, it looks like a natural flushed pink cheek.   Mocha was my first, and still my most favorite!

Hey, I know I’m somewhat late commenting on this, and up front I’ll say the “Fab 5” series is great fun. Two thoughts: how did you put together several 5-series using natural or nude-toned blushes without including a SINGLE Bobbi Brown cheek color? She sells a bunch of bronzers and luminizers in addition to matte and coral blushes, and all the colors are made to look like natural skin colors. #2: Has temptalia considered expanding the ‘Fab5’ series of SINGLE colors to series of duos, trios, etc or to “5 ways to wear….” Suppose someone writes, “I bought NARS eyeshadows ‘isolde’ but don’t know how to put it together….” So you give them “5 ways to wear it”.

Just two cents
