Chanel Rebelle Rouge Coco Shine

Chanel Rebelle Rouge Coco Shine ($32.00 for 0.10 oz.) is a semi-opaque red-coral with a healthy shine. It has warm undertones, but they’re subtle and come from the pink-red hue, rather than orange, so it should work on both cooler and warmer complexions. Guerlain Bal de Mai is similar but more opaque, less red. MAC Hibiscus is more orange. Bobbi Brown Guava and Chanel Flamboyante are brighter.

I’ve reviewed numerous Rouge Coco Shines in the past, and while it’s not my favorite formula, I know that there are plenty of readers who love it! For me, where this product consistently falls short is in its hydration–it’s not drying, but it’s not moisturizing. Rebelle wore for two and a half hours, which is one of the longer wear times I’ve been able to get out of the formula. It’s a shame, because the consistency feels great; creamy, nice level of slip, and lightweight on the lips. With the shorter wear time, the lessened product amount compared to other Chanel lipsticks, is a bit painful.

I might try this one, Rouge Coco Shines aren’t my favorite formula either, but I like the packaging (so sue me :P) and they are nice when you don’t want to think about lipstick too much but want a little color and shine. However I don’t like how sheer they are. I have Romance (I think that’s the name) and it’s very nice but doesn’t have much punch…it’s just a face-brightener. So I think I’ll pick this up and give it a shot 🙂

i am trying to locate chanel coromandel #72 rouge allure laque like a crazy person. I wish i could find it. Do you know if they are going to repromote that sucker?

Oh wow, I feel hard for this color! It looks NOTHING like what it does in tube, but it looks FANTASTIC on you! I might check Guerlain Bal de Mai and Chanel Flamboyante out as well. Thanks for the comparisons Christine!

I’m not a fan of the Rouge Coco Shine formula either, but I have Rebelle because I couldn’t resist the color. It’s a lot more red (and less pink) on me (NC15).

The color is nice but this is a perfect example of why looking at swatches and playing before you buy is essential! It looks NOTHING like how it looks in the tube.

I love the color of this on the lips but I would love a lipstick that is that color in the tube even more! Dissapointing that a $32 lipstick only lasts about 2 hours though… might as well go for a lip butter at that point

For anyone disappointed that it doesn’t look the way it does in the tube, don’t fret. It’s totally layerable and it is a full red on me (NC20)

I could not resit this colour, it’s a beautiful wearable red. On me it looks much redder and it leaves a nice stain when it fades, which is, yes, too soon. I still love it!

It is a beautiful colour and I do like the Coco Shines but in Canada they are about $35 I think. Now with Revlon’s lip butters out….I think I’ll go with $11 and get the red ones of those.

BTW, Love the eye makeup in these pics. I like the soft and dewy focus it gives.

Agh, I was hoping this one would be a *touch* more pigmented. I actually don’t really like this line. It’s a slip and slide on me. I think I’m just old-fashioned. But, really! This would have been so beautiful if they just added a little more color!

HI! I really love this lipstik, to get a redder and fuller shade I apply it 3 times, but unfortuntly it lasts only a cuple of houres 🙁
Anyway because I really love it I would like to find a matching nail polish. I asked help in many shops but after buying 3 different wrong shades I decided to give up. Can you give me any advice?
