Tarina Tarantino Lovely Jewel Eyeshadow Palette
Tarina Tarantino Lovely Jewel Eyeshadow Palette ($32.00 for 0.32 oz.) is a smoky eye palette that consists mostly of grays and silvers. Tarina Tarantino’s eyeshadow formula can be used wet or dry, and each shade is supposed to have excellent pigmentation.
The shade on the left is a bright white-silver with a frosted finish. It has good color payoff, but the texture is a touch dry. MAC Filament is a bit darker and not as bright. MAC Misty is grayer.
On the top, there is a shade that’s a pale ivory with subtle warm undertones and a frosted sheen. The color payoff is decent to good, but it could be softer and smoother. MAC Dazzlelight is similar, but Chanel Prelude is closer.
The shade on the right is a charcoal gray with a shimmery sheen. This has good color payoff, but the texture is slightly drier–not quite as dense or as buttery as other shades have been in the past. Bobbi Brown Gunmetal is similar but darker. Urban Decay Gunmetal is very similar.
In the center, there is a soft beige-brown with a soft shimmer. The color payoff is good, but the texture is a touch powdery. Chanel Eclosion is darker and warmer. MAC Sweet Satisfaction is warmer. MAC Grain is similar.
The last shade, on the bottom, is a dark black with a satiny finish. It has good color payoff, and because it has more of a matte finish, it has a drier feel overall but still soft. Bare Escentuals Lights Down is slightly lighter. MAC Carbon is lighter but more matte.
It’s my least favorite palette of the ones I’ve tried by Tarina Tarantino, because of the difference in quality; these shades were less pigmented than expected with drier/powdery textures. Â A great smoky eye palette is nice to have, but this one leaves something to be desired. Â It’s not bad, but it’s not great, and given how nice her other palettes have been, it’s a let-down. Â When I wore this to test out the wear, it wore for around eight hours without creasing without a primer, but it was slightly faded after nine hours. Â With a primer, I didn’t have any wear issues.

Christine, it was thanks to you that I discovered these Tarina Tarantino palettes and I am so grateful to you. I never even stopped to look at her products at Sephora – I was usually in such a coma of makeup-buying/testing/swatching hysteria that I just breezed by her display til I saw your review of the Dreamy palette and I went out and got it the very next day and I have fallen in love with it again every time I use it. Lovely was one of the others I contemplated getting but was going to wait for your review first. Now, I think I’ll pass and pick up Delightful instead. But I have to thank you for introducing me to this line (and the liners too!…and maybe blushes next – somebody STOP me before I buy again!)
Aww! I’m so glad! It is so crazy – every one I’ve talked to lately that’s tried TT recently has been like, “This is so much better than I thought it would be!”
I actually really like the looks of this! I’ll have to go try it out at Sephora.
It’s a bit… boring
Oh wow, a B from Tarina Tarantino! I was thinking it’d be another straight A palette!
Not the best one from Tarina… these colors are a bit boring lol. I love the packaging of these, they’re so pretty!
I hate it when palettes combine too many light shades with too many dark shades and nothing in between. :/ I definitely like the looks of her other palettes more
Classical but so nice !
i like the colors…too bad they;re dry
Hey Christine,
Is it possible to show a picture swatch of all eyeshadow’s together when you do reviews of palettes? 🙂 I think you use to do this, I always like seeing the colors together. 🙂
Mmh color is a bit boring but damn the silver is beautiful xD
