6 Red Lipsticks to Get Angelina Jolie's 2012 Golden Globes Red Lip

The real deal!

6 Red Lipsticks to Get Angelina Jolie’s 2012 Golden Globes Red Lip

Angelina Jolie’s red lips was one of the most talked about beauty looks from this year’s Golden Globes.  I don’t know what she wore, and while I’ve attempted to find out, I haven’t had any luck yet!  Her lip looked anywhere from pinky-red to red-coral to red, but it never looked too orange.  I saw it both with more of a matte/satin finish as well as a glossier look (perhaps recent reapplication?).

I know that Jolie has used Chantecaille in the past, and though I don’t own much from the range, possible shades within the brand would be Amaryllis Lip Chic, Azalea Lipstick, or Cassia Lipstick.

  • Giorgio Armani #406 — deep blue-based red; slightly darker than what was worn
  • Guerlain Liu — rich blue-based red with a glossy shine; bluer than what was worn
  • Chanel Cambon — slightly orange-toned red; needs a teeniest bit more blue to be similar
  • Guerlain Rouge Sensuel — almost red-coral with a subtle gold shimmer; lighter, has gold shimmer compared to what was worn
  • MAC Perpetual Flame — pinky-red with a creamy finish; slightly pinker than what was worn
  • NARS Flamenco — soft watermelon red; less opaque, less red

And as a bonus, contributor Damaris has a Brazilian option–O Boticario #330 Lipstick (R$ 12,90).

I am obsessed with Angelina Jolie’s lip colour last night. I think YSL Rouge Pur Couture in No 40 Rouge Eros from the Holiday 2011 collection might be a dupe. 🙂 I’ll have to play with it tonight and swatch it. Will share if it is close.

On the less expensive side, there’s:
Revlon Colorburst Lipstick in “True Red”
Maybelline Colorsensational Lipstick in “Red Revival”, “Very Cherry” & “Red Revolution”
L’Oreal Infallible Lipstick in “Ravising Red” (#312)

The only one “problem” about that lipstick from O Boticário is that it is a matte lipstick, while Angelina’s seems to be very creamy… =]

But the important thing is that they are talking about a product of our country. It is an honor for us Brazilians! Who knows well the Brazilians start to value their products too …? Well, actually I hope that manufacturers do not increase prices …

I think her lips aren’t looking great.I have never been a huge fan of her signature feature. But still she always looks good but the lip surface and lines look kinda ugly in this pic.Maybe her makeup artist should have used a better lip smoothing base:)
I guess Mac-ladybug with a true red pencil underneath can look like this:)

I’m sure half the reason it was talked about is because she almost never wears color. It’s kind of mindblowing when she does. Gotta say, though, if I had that smacker, you’d never see it without a dab of color. 😀

Great post! I am obsessed with the lipstick she’s wearing and so glad she branched out from her usual nudes. I love that it is just slightly off from a true red — the touch of pink/watermelon/etc is just so perfect!

I’d love it if you found out what it was she actually wore!

Sandra Bullock from a year or so ago wore Chanel Rouge Coco “Paris” #22. It looked fabulous on her.

Keep trying for us Christine! We appreciate it!!

Looks like a combo job to me: blue red on the outside and corners and something rosier in the middle to the inside of her lip. Could be a blue-based red liner with a rose lipstick, too, I suppose. This is an old Hollywood trick.

By the way, notice how the brows are almost too accentuated while her eyes and cheeks are defined, but color-neutral? That’s how you wear a strongly-colored lip! Goes with the dress, goes with the face, spike the ball – it’s a touchdown!

Man, good work!

If you really want your lips this color of red (and why wouldn’t you? It’s gorgeous!) you must use Strawberry Lips or RED! by Red Apple Lipstick. By far the best lipstick available AND it’s gluten free!

Very nice colours, all of them. It is interesting to see how much are these lipsticks opaque, just looking at Christinas lip freckle 🙂 Brazilian option is very nice, looks so natural on lips (or it seems that way on the picture).

Omg hot hot hot! I wish I was angelina jolie 😛 I actually bought a lip pump recently to make my lips look a lot bigger, like hers, and I was really happy with the results. I recommend using it b4 a big night out and then applying a really bold colour, like red to your lips, bold colours look amazing on big lips, no wonder angelina pulls it off. I got my lip pump from lip plumping shop if neone is interested.
