Chanel Spring 2012: Destinee Rouge Coco Lipstick
Chanel Destinee Rouge Coco Lipstick ($32.00 for 0.12 oz.) is described as “plum.” It’s an ever-so-slightly muted raspberry plum with a healthy shine and semi-opaque color coverage. MAC Craving is a bit darker. Maybelline Bit of Berry is slightly brighter. MAC Positively Dashing is similar in color but has a frostier finish. MAC Red Dwarf is more opaque and darker. Dior Ruby is redder.
The Rouge Coco formula is good but falls short of some of the brand’s claims, primarily hydration, which it doesn’t provide–it’s neither drying nor moisturizing. The color range is typically semi-opaque to opaque with a lightweight feel. Destinee wore for around four hours and was comfortable to wear. I think this kind of color is supremely flattering across skin tones, both in terms of undertones and color. It’s not too dark or vampy, so it won’t feel too bold against even the palest of skin, but it has enough color and oomph to complement darker skin tones, too.

Ah, a rouge coco without a frosty or shimmery finish! I love the colour too, its not too bold, but has enough colour to it to make it interesting!
How does it compare to Mac Gem of roses?
Thank you by advance Christine !
Gem of Roses doesn’t look anything like this – did you mean something else?
No, I was thinking of gem of roses because on my lips it first looked pretty close. Maybe I just have a bad computer screen !
Gem of Roses is lighter, pinker – this is deeper, darker!
Ok, thank you very much!
That’s a really lovely plum colour..really good for everyday wear.
As usual you look pretty wearing it 🙂
It’s pretty, but it just doesn’t scream “plum” to me. Perhaps it’s just me….
This looks just beautiful on you! Are you wearing the Chanel Spring collection liner on your waterline?
Yep!
So pretty! Is this the same eye look you just recently posted? I lovee it!
Yes!
Beautiful color! Your skin looks fantastic as well.
I don’t particularly like my lipsticks too mushy and that often comes with moisturizing lipsticks. I then find adding a gloss makes a bigger mess. So I might check this one out. Gorgeous shade, especially on you, Christine!
That color is very flattering on you. Love it!
this is one of my favorite Chanel lipstick!i love it!
what a lovely color! never tried plum color before but I think I should try this out. XD
Beautiful! Definitely looks more raspberry than plum. What a pricetag!
Christine, what are you wearing on your waterline? It looks lovely
Chanel Grenat!
Thank you!
I really like this shade with the rest of your look! Weird how this shade seems to be opaque and sheer at the same time!
this looks gorgeous on you. must go swatch it myself!
