Ciate Rainbow Mermaid Glow Review, Photos, Swatches
Rainbow
Ciate Rainbow Mermaid Glow ($32.00 for 0.32 oz.) is a pale, silvery white with a luminous sheen. The strips of colors are rather thin, so it wasn’t really pratical to use them individually, and when I attempted to get more of a gradient, they just all seemed to wash together regardless to a single shade (silvery white).
The consistency was smooth with a slightly denser feel compared to the Glow-To Highlighters from the brand. There was no powderiness in the pan, and the powder sat exceptionally well on the skin–soft, luminous, and never drew attention to my skin’s texture. It had a stronger, white base, so I would be wary of this on deeper complexions as it could turn ashy, but for those with very fair complexions, I imagine it would be quite suitable. The highlighter was easy to diffuse and blend out on the skin with good pigmentation and a buildable luminosity. It lasted for eight hours on me before fading.

I’ll pass. I never understood the whole rainbow highlighter thing. Maybe I’m too old. LOL
Even though I’m getting weary of the whole unicorn/ mermaid trend (it really has become overkill at this point), I genuinely love how this one applies. Probably not the best shade for me due to its white base being rather opaque. Can get away with Fenty Metal Moon, though. Because buffed out, the base dissapates. Or ColourPop Sil Vous Play because it has a sheerness to it.
This looks like it would be a lot like MAC’s Lightscapade swirled together but reading that it’s like Dior’s Glowing Pink makes me want to get this because I adore that highlighter and live in fear of using it up.
Definitely has a similar look to Lightscapade!
I got this when it launched and I was rather surprised by how much I liked it. I can get 2 tones out of the pan using just the top green/yellow or just the pink/purple bottom but it is a pale but dewy highlighter that reminds me for GUERLAIN Meteorites powders and pearls.
Happy to hear it! I thought it would be nicer on very light skin tones!
I strangely want to use it all over my body. lol
But yeah the finish is softer/less metallic than my Becca Pearl powder highlighter so I’d be more inclined to use it all the time. 😉
I’ll probably try this one. I bought Laura Geller’s Diamond Gelato when I ran out of MAC Lightscapade and think I’d like this one more!
Dang, that’s actually really pretty on the skin! Of course, I’m loving how it looks in the pan, as well. 🙂
That’s nicer than I thought!
