Sneak Peek: Urban Decay Vice Lipsticks (Fall 2017) Photos & Swatches

Urban Decay Vice Lipstick ($17.00 for 0.11 oz.) range sees an additional 15 shades added to the permanent lineup. In terms of where one can find them, five are exclusive to the brand’s website (Caliente, Control, Hawkeye, Plague, Heartache), while ten are available at other retailers. Also: a few of the shades were previously released as limited edition shades.

First Impressions

Based only on swatching and applying each shade to my lips for lip swatches, they seem fairly consistent with past releases of Vice Lipstick. I felt like some of the repeats (like Asphyxia) were marginally improved and more pigmented with less slip and greater hold. The Metallized finish remains inconsistent with medium to full coverage, sometimes more emollient and other times more gel-like with a slight tackiness (and better application as a result). The Cream and Comfort Mattes are typically quite good, and overall, Vice Lipstick remains one of my favorite formulas. I was a little confused as shades like Exhibition and Caliente, which feel like they already have similar shades available in the permanent line-up.

Backseat is easily my favorite lipstick right now, possibly ever. I’m so glad they came out with it as an alternative to Epigram. Hideaway has also been excellent for me. BTW, I love the new first impressions!!

Accident, Hideaway and Heartache are my favorite shades. For traditional shades, that is.
Control is how a cyan blue lipstick *should* look! ? Hawkeye looks far better than Junkie, but I still prefer the teal in Junkie, though.

Now for what’s weird here: Exhibition when that have Bittersweet? Caliente when they have Checkmate (?)? ?

Looking to try Hideaway and Love Drunk — I have a million dupes for Hideaway, but Vice is one of my favorite formulas. And I’ve been in the mood to buy a new red. Interested in Accident but not entirely sold on it — waiting for the review. I was really hoping Backfire would be more opaque, right now it’s a pass for me.

Backseat and Epigram (from the Basquiat collection) are pretty identical… what’s the point of limited edition these days? Still glad I have Epigram for the packaging, at least. I’d like them to make Fuel permanent too if that’s what they seem to be going for– I’m scared to run out!
