Chanel Liberte Rouge Coco Shine Review, Photos, Swatches

Chanel Liberte Rouge Coco Shine

Chanel Rouge Coco Shine in Liberte

Chanel Liberte (44) Rouge Coco Shine ($32.00 for 0.10 oz.) looks like it’ll be a brighter coral-red from the tube, but when swatched and applied, it’s a much softer color with only a hint of coral.  It’s a very played down mix of peach and pink.  It gives semi-opaque color coverage, but it seemed a little patchy compared to some of the other Rouge Coco Shines I’ve tried.    Rouge Coco Shines are supposed to deliver softer, sheerer color, so I would not expect full color coverage with this formula (consider Rouge Cocos or Rouge Allures for more color payoff).

It’s a sheerer version of MAC Temper Tantra (a touch pinker, too), which means it’s also similar to Korres #25 Liquid Lipstick. It’s slightly less pink compared to Chanel Libertine. MAC See Sheer is a little darker.  You can compare them all side-by-side in our Swatch Gallery.

This shade also wore off in about an hour and a half; I just can’t get it to stay on for long (most lipsticks last an average of four hours on me).  Rouge Coco Shines have many balm-like qualities; they’re glide on easily and feel very emollient, but they’re not as moisturizing as a balm.  These are slightly smaller than Chanel’s other lipsticks (0.10 oz. versions 0.12 oz.), but soft formula of the Rouge Coco Shines makes these easy to over-apply.

It looks like a good lippie for strong eye makeup. Today I wore bright purple, plum, and blue shadows, and I had to make do with Revlon Hazelnut lipstick, because I really cannot find a good nude lipstick.

Ewwwwww. While the faraway shot of your full face makes it seem like it’s a lovely colour on you, the CLOSEUP shot is freaking hideous. Look at all those chunks in there on your lips! Yuck.

Fey Avatar

I think Chelle meant the bits of the Rouge Coco Shine going on unevenly, not your physical lips. On the closeup of your lips wearing Liberte, most of the little pigmented pieces of the lipstick are visible/settle into lip lines.

Lovely post. It’s a pretty sheer.

Chelle Avatar

Oh my god! I didn’t mean you Christine! Like Fey said, I meant the lip product itself, it seems to collect in small chunks all over your lips.

Hey Christine! I think the first picture of the lipstick is not Liberte but Monte Carlo, the swatches look like Liberte, maybe there was a mistake? Thanks for the review, I love Liberte and use it with the Pensee glossimer (summer 2011)

i’m sorry but i really dont think that the rouge coco shine is worth that price, honestly! i have one and i really regret buying it. i would have rather spent my money on the regular rouge coco.

I have 3 Chanel Coco Shines that I adore: Sari d’Eau, Boy and Cavaliere. They have great pigmentation for my pigmented lips(I’m around and NC45 in Mac). They are worth the money 100%. The other colors don’t interest me much, so I probably won’t buy them. Also, they do vary in pigmentation. I think I bought 3 of the strongest ones.

No thanks on this one. It’s unlike Chanel to have such a short-wearing lip product. Even the Glossimers last longer than that on me.

that is soo sheer! and for the price, this is ridiculous! definitely not worth the money, you can totally find something similar for under 10 bucks.

it’s too bad that it only lasted for such a short amount of time. The color is spectacular on you, but hardly worth it if it applies unevenly and wore off in only 1-1/2 hours! I only own Boy, and while I LOVE the shade it does wear off rather quickly. Do you have the link to what you are wearing on your eyes? It’s a gorgeous look!

Instead of just having low-end (Maybelline, Covergirl, etc) and high-end (MAC, Urban Decay, etc) there should be a luxury end as well (Chanel, anything with an unpronouncable french name)

The color looks really nice on you if it weren’t for the patchiness! I love the look you’ve done on your eyes-is it something you’ve posted before? Could you give a quick run down? lol I want to try to wear something like that tomorrow!
