The Best & Worst of Becca Light Chaser Highlighters & Liquid Crystal Glow Glosses

Becca Light Chaser Highlighter ($34.00 for 0.23 oz.) is a new, limited edition powder highlighter that is supposed to be “the perfect marriage of kaleidoscopic colour and light” that give the skin “an otherwordly glow.” There are six shades in the range, and a few of them have more of a visible shift in person (less so in photos) while others just seemed like a typical highlighter. From the brand that seemed to put highlighters back on the market with their Shimmering Skin Perfector Pressed formula, the formula lacked the finesse in texture and blendability I would have expected from Becca. The texture varied from shade to shade with some being drier, looser, and less blendable to smoother, more blendable, and fairly good as a tinted highlighter/subtle blush.

Becca Liquid Crystal Glow Gloss ($22.00 for 0.17 fl. oz.) is a new, limited edition formula available in six shades. Becca describes it as “gemstones melted into liquid form” with a “mix of unique pearls” paired with a “conditioning” formula. In general, the formula was more like a sheer to semi-sheer gloss with moderate pearl, sometimes with more nuance and other times was more like a traditional, shimmery gloss. The formula was lightweight, thin, lightly tacky, and comfortable to wear but only lasted two to three hours. For most of the shades, I detected the scent throughout the wear but only tasted soapiness with one (Topaz x Gilt). The glosses were less shifting in their shimmer/pearl as they were just sparkly and mirror-like in shine.

My favorite shades: Opal Flashes Jade (Light Chaser Highlighter) and Topaz x Gilt (Glow Gloss).

I was able to do the something similar! I layered the KVD emerald from the Alchemist palette, on top of Stila’s kitten highlighter and get a similar look, also tried the opal shade from Alchemist, mixed with Champage pop from Becca. I am really easily passing on this Becca collection.

Ehm…….I was supposed to like the whole collection, but after reading your reviews and seeing the swatches there isn’t actually anything that really screams “BUY ME!!!” to me. Oh, I’m so glad, that could have been a disaster for my wallet!

I played with Jade flashes Opal highlight and Topaz Gilt lipgloss and honestly, I was not too impressed. I love the original Becca highlight formula, its one of THE best on the market, and this one was just too powdery and dry for my taste. You get a nice jade flashback but it exaggerates pores really badly. If you have ANY texture on your face, beware. Also, what is with the pan size? You get 6.5 grams for $34 while you can get Champagne Pop for $38 for 8 grams. Feels like a scam. Gloss was just OK too. Not a lot of pigment (it wears off quickly) but a whole lot of stickiness.

Opal flashes Jade is my favorite too. Rose Quartz flashes sea shell I like too. I had champagne dream flashes Bellini but I returned it. I don’t know if I got a bad one or what, but it didn’t have color pay off at all. I couldn’t see it on my light to possibly light medium complexion with summer tan. I couldn’t get it to show up as eye shadow over primmer either. I even scratched some top layer off and still nope. I did notice when I returned it to Sephora that the one they had in store showed up a bit more on my hand. I wonder if that means more layers have to be scratched off. At any rate no thanks for $34. I got the KVD alchemist palette instead. I think it will be fun and looks like from your post it might work as eyeshadow too.
