Chanel Talpa (14) Ombre Premiere Longwear Powder Eyeshadow ($30.00 for 0.08 oz.) is a light-medium, golden brown with warm undertones and a metallic sheen. The consistency was finely-milled, soft, and lightly dusty in the pan, but it adhered well to bare skin when patted on. I had no trouble diffusing and blending out the edges. It had great pigmentation that lasted for seven hours on me.
The formula is described as a “richly-pigmented” and “longwearing.” There are 16 shades available, and I’ve tried eight of them and have found that most are semi-opaque to opaque in coverage with soft, blendable textures that are often on the dustier side. Some shades were prone to sheering out on the lid and applied best by layering and building up the color than trying to pack it on. They lasted between six and seven and a half hours on me, which was below average. I think Chanel’s formula in their quads is better overall, as they are not as dusty but still are blendable. I think the quad formula also sat better on the lids.

Chanel Noir Satin (26) Ombre Premiere Longwear Powder Eyeshadow ($30.00 for 0.08 oz.) is a blackened purple with subtle, warm undertones and a semi-matte finish. It appeared grayer and blacker in the pan but pulled rather warm and purply on me when swatched. The texture was thinner, a little dusty in the pan, but was blendable on the lid and didn’t sheer out too readily. The eyeshadow started to fade on me after seven and a half hours of wear.

Chanel Desert Rouge (36) Ombre Premiere Longwear Powder Eyeshadow ($30.00 for 0.08 oz.) is a muted, medium-dark coppery red with warm undertones and a satin finish. It had good pigmentation with a soft, smooth consistency that blended out with ease. On me, the eyeshadow faded noticeably after seven hours of wear.

Ingredients
Desert Rouge strikes my fancy. Not a lot of dupes, and it’s nice that it’s permanent so there’s time then to see when I can swatch in store. It might be too outright red to look right on me — could look like I’ve been rubbing my eyes hard — but perhaps with a light touch it could work.

When that Chanel quad Candeur et Experience came out, I only wanted/needed the red. Was hoping Desert Rouge would be close, but IDK, looks a lot more brown than red to me, will need to swatch in person

Talpa is pretty but Desert Rouge is a disappointing from pan to swatch.

Desert Rouge and Noir Satin are both quite beautiful! Not that I would feel comfortable plunking down $30 on an eyeshadow single that only garnered a B+, I would possibly if it were a solid A, however.
I know! I feel like Chanel should have touted these as buildable rather than pigmented.

Good example that relates back to question from earlier this week: I expect more than B+ for a 30 US dollar eyeshadow. Lots of dupes for all of these shades and a plethora of what would be wasted packaging for me. If these are your cup ‘o tea, happy for you. They don’t fit my purchasing profile.
Yeah, $30 singles are steep, and I think they have to be exactly what you want!
I thought Desert Rouge would be bolder when I saw it in the pan, I still like it, but not enough considering what it costs. Maybe if it had been an A+ grade. 🙂

Talpa reminds me of an old Chanel eye shadow I had many, many years ago. I remember buying it and being so proud of the fact that I had my first Chanel eye shadow. I wore it to death until there was nothing left but crumbs in a pan.

I really like the Talpa shade – very pretty, but all of these colours are fairly common shades now and the price of them individually makes them very expensive.

I can not justify paying $30 for a single eyeshadow, ever. I don’t care if it is the best eyeshadow out there, there are so many other options.
I don’t think I would do so that often (normally, not as a blogger), though my go-to brow bone color was Burberry Trench – happily paid the $30ish it was every time! It’s dupable, but it was just perfect for my skin tone and I knew I’d use it up, at least!
Hi Christine, I purchased Talpa yesterday and I cannot get it to show up on my lids. May I ask what brush you used for the powder shadows? I bought it and the Silver Pink cream shadow, which showed up as a taupey/grey. Not quite what I was looking for and Talpa over top made it that more smoky. I ordered Desert Rouge to use in the crease or over Pourpre Profond. I used the red in CT’s Dolce Vita quad over Poupre Profound and it reminded me of the Candeur quad. Stunning!
I don’t remember – I didn’t use any in particular as I didn’t have any issues with them translating onto the eye!
Hmmm. Rereading your description, I tried patting on with my finger and that seemed a good way to apply. The shade remains very light on me as it leans taupey/silver, it is not one I’d wear as the main shade (and for the price, I may look for something more unique).
I was surprised to see Desert Rouge matching 95% to the red in Candeur et Experience quad. Huh. Really appreciate your reviews of this collection!!
Talpa is gorgeous and on the list to pick up eventually. I already have desert rouge. Noir Satin is also beautiful I just never wear anything that dark but I could see it used as an eyeliner.
