Tom Ford Frantic Pink & Wicked Cheek Colors (2017) Reviews, Photos, Swatches
Frantic Pink
Tom Ford Frantic Pink Cheek Color ($60.00 for 0.28 oz.) is a light-medium pink with warm undertones and pale gold shimmer. Of all the shades between the old and new formulas, this had the least change to it (see comparison here), as it just seemed to be less shimmery and perhaps brighter. It had good pigmentation, though just shy of full coverage, which some may like but did not seem as buildable as described. The texture was soft enough that it was blendable and more forgiving for sheering out coverage, as desired, and it sat well on the skin. This shade wore well for nine and a half hours on me.
For 2017, Tom Ford reformulated this powder blush formula, and the new formula is described as “layers of possibility, from a sexy glow to a more dramatic, color-rich look” (that sounds like “buildable”) that is supposed to apply “with the comfort of a cream.” Overall, the texture is thinner, finely-milled but drier than the original formula, and the shimmer has become finer and less apparent through many of the new-old shades. The formula was still fairly blendable to very blendable and particularly long-wearing with semi-opaque to opaque pigmentation.

Wicked
Tom Ford Wicked Cheek Color ($60.00 for 0.28 oz.) is a bright, medium pink with subtle, warm undertones and a semi-matte finish. It is warmer and less shimmery compared to the prior formulation (see comparison here). The consistency was soft, silky, and smooth without being too powdery or too firm in the pan, though it was thinner and more powder-like to the touch than the original formula. It had mostly opaque pigmentation (less buildable as it was just pigmented) that applied well to bare skin and blended out without a lot of work. This shade wore for ten hours on me.

Both look very nice! I’m more into peach blushes myself though, but I think I could get along with Frantic Pink.
Frantic Pink would work if you like peach!
Christine, as I’m typing in this comments box, all of sudden I get redirected to other sites or ads/surveys pop up and fill the whole screen. Happened 4x this morning. I’m on desktop
Hi Katherine,
I haven’t had anyone else comment about this (yet?) – and I haven’t had it happen to me. Screenshots are always the best way for me to start investigating – really hard to do much more, unfortunately, if I can’t recreate the issue!
My old computer did the same thing but not on this site. It happened almost everywhere. As it turned out, I had a worm or a not something like that. It was not a virus however.
I had a friend who was able to fix it.
I had this happen to me too! I’ll see if it happens again and send a screen shot!
Ok understood. I’ll try to take a screenshot next time it happens to me. Thanks!
Perfect! You can send to christine[at]temptalia.com! Alternatively, if you happen to remember the name of the advertiser, that might help as well.
The colors are different enough that they should’ve re-named these or at least re-labelled Wicked 1 or 2
They should have gone with new names, I think!
Wicked has very little overlap with the original. They did need new names…Even KVD named a closish one lolita2. They should have 2’d the new issues. None of these cause the craving the old ones did for me. They are even higher priced, less well performing. Having 80-90% dupes, just not getting into these at all.
Yes, I think new names would have made more sense! Or some play on the older names – like So Wicked or Natural Flush.
Wicked was always on my backburner wishlist. One that I dare not let myself say out loud or get my hopes too high in ever being able to one day buy it, because $’s. Now I am thoroughly kicking myself for waiting! This new version is just not making my knees turn into noodles.
Aww! So sad 🙁
Pretty! I’m not sure I like the new formula better though. I wonder why he changed?
The new formula will be best for someone who likes thinner powders and less shimmery, I think!
Wicked is pretty, but not pretty enough to buy, for me. you know?
Totally get that, Shannon!
Frantic Pink is a beautiful soft shade of pink, I think this would be a popular colour.
I bet it will be for lighter skin tones!
Frantic Pink is so pretty!
Happy to hear it!
It’s a shame the formula was changed so much. I actually bought Wicked a few months ago and I’m pretty sure it was the the first (secret) formula change before this second (marketed) change. I had owned the original formula one from a few years ago and foolishly gave it away so finally bought the replacement only to discover it wasn’t the same as the original formula. (I had a swatch of the original one so could easily compare.) There was no indication in any of TF marketing that the formula was changed but I suspected it was after someone commented on one of your blog posts about the formula being changed to be less shimmery and then I saw it with my own eyes. This interim/secret formula change not only made the blush less shimmery but also harder to blend. I ended up returning it. I suspect this latest change is even worse.
Did you find the color was changed or just the finish?
I still find it odd not to keep the existing range + expand the shade range. They could have easily added matte shades as well as new shimmers!
Mostly the finish, but the color seemed flatter or a tiny bit more white based, if that makes sense. It was like a whole different blush to me; definitely not worth the money.
I get what you mean – the texture and feel is quite different, and I could see why you’d feel like it was flatter/more white-based (there seemed like there was more talc in it to me).
I agree with you….I bought Wicked in October and it definitely the new formula, even though it WAD supposed to be the old formula. The reformulated one’s had not been released yet. I returned it and bought an old formula from eBay and it was definitely the original formula and it is beautiful.
Gorgeous shades.both of these are perfect for everyday look.
They would be!
I think I am liking the new versions of these two colors better than the originals (not so with Love Lust).
That is great news!
It’s so disappointing that Wicked went from a relatively unusual shade (very cool, sparkly pink) to something with three pages of dupes!
I was surprised by the change 🙁
