Makeup Geek Love Letter Blush
Makeup Geek Love Letter Blush ($10.00 for 0.15 oz.) is a muted, medium-dark lavender purple with warm undertones and a mostly matte finish. Estee Lauder Audacious Plum (P, $34.00) is more shimmery, lighter (90% similar). Clinique Pansy Pop (P, $21.00) is lighter (85% similar). ColourPop Rain (LE, $8.00) is lighter, brighter, cooler (80% similar). Giorgio Armani Cool Mauve (50) (P, $38.00) is warmer (80% similar). Cover FX Sweet Mulberry (Left) (PiP, ) is darker (80% similar). Bite Beauty Nectar (P, $24.00) is cooler (80% similar). See comparison swatches / view dupes side-by-side.
The formula is supposed to be pigmented, long-wearing, and blendable (for more on how it compares to the previous formula, check out this post). This is one of the completley new shades, and it’s definitely not a color I’ve seen a lot in the past, which is always refreshing to see. The texture was soft, lightly dusty, blendable, and easy to use with mostly opaque color payoff that could be applied with a lighter hand for semi-sheer coverage. I found that it darkened and turned pinker applied to my skin, but I expect that cooler skin tones will see more of the purplish tint come through. The color wore well for eight hours before fading noticeably.

Looks great on you!
Thank you!
Two today are pulling pink on you. The swatch looks as if it would be mauvey on me. Sorry I missed Rain. The others look like they’d disappear. This may be a go.
I’m not sure if it’s the formula or just how matte/thin the newer MUG formula is, but they seem to darken and brighten a bit once on.
As soon as I saw the swatch, I knew this would be hard to dupe, going on my wishlist!
Woohoo! 😀
Lovely color.
It is!
Oh Christine, I really love this blush on you and the eye look with the Lorac Pro 3. I am loving it, too. I am so happy for the heads up on that from Ulta and have used mine so much since I got it earlier in the week. I think this blush would look very nice on my pale complexion but haven’t purchased anything from MUG in awhile. I will have to look around and see if I can find enough to make ordering worthwhile. Thanks for the review.
Happy to share, Deborah! The color is more unique, which is nice!
Pretty color! I wish it came in a more satin finish, though.
I totally agree, Sonya!
This is my kind of purplish blush! It has just enough pink to make it believable on even warm skin tones like your own or mine. Have a feeling that this one will be a major hit!
I think they did a good job with the color on this one 🙂
I love cool toned blushes! Maybe because they’re recommended on warm tones, but I love the extra pop lavender bases give when they color correct the yellow in my skin a bit
I always like seeing more cool-toned ANYTHING in the industry 😉
I’m upset that they changed a perfectly good formula, but I LOVE this color so much I may get it eventually!! I do wish it stayed more true to pan on the cheeks!
The color is great!
I wish it was less matte.
I hear ya! We need more satins!
