The Summer Season: YSL #26 Tender Peach Rouge Volupte Lipstick

Yves Saint Laurent #26 Tender Peach Rouge Volupte Lipstick ($34.00 for 0.12 oz.) is a luxuriously creamy darkened peach. It has virtually no shimmer, but it has a subtle glossy sheen. Rouge Voluptes are very, very creamy and feel slippery on lips, but they do manage to stay on for two to three hours. They’re incredibly moisturizing and opaque, and since they’re so creamy and thick (but don’t feel heavy), they often de-emphasize any minor flaws on the lips, too. They are mango-scented, but I don’t notice any taste myself.

Is this the right coral for you? Would you wear it?

The Summer Season is a series of posts featuring bright, vibrant shades of coral, orange, and pink lipsticks and lipglosses — all perfect for a summer of fun — that runs through July 2010.

Well craziness, as soon as i posted that, the pics showed up! HAHA so worth it, the shade is goorrrgeous, thank you for the beautiful swatches and all you do for us!

I’m sorry to say this but I’m not liking that colour at all. Reminds me of the kind of make-up ganguro girls wear… no.

Yea, I’m wondering why so many people think they’re so great! They’re so drying, and if you don’t exfoliate before you apply…my goodness…your lips peel like you’ve never seen them peel before. This never happens with any other lipstick!

I think that people fall in love with the packaging and the few moments it looks good when they first apply it. But once it dries… not good and not worth the money!

Sadly I found the one I bought drying, too 🙁 It’s funny how skin reacts differently to different products, isn’t it?

Sunshine Avatar

These new ones are extremely drying for me as well. My lips start peeling like crazy :(( I’ve tried only once though. Used a brand new tester in Sephora (coral l/s that comes in a long thin tube) hoping for some moisture but the result was completely opposite. Will never touch this product again. It’s sad because I really love their new colors.

This won’t suit me, but I think you pull it off quite well, atually.
You with this colour reminds me of a friend of my mom’s in the early 70’s. Dark hair, opaque coral lips, black eyeliner and pale eyes. Yes. Early 70’s fo sho!!! 🙂

I absolutely love this color, but can’t justify the $$$$ to go out and pick it up. It is beautiful though and right along the lines of the peaches and corals that I adore

Christine Shen Avatar

maybe its the computer, I swear my looks so much more vibrate peachy pink, and yours looks so pale and nudy? I like yours better haha.

Katie Avatar

Hey Christine!

Two things – One, I love your makeup in this picture, espeically the blush!

Two, I meant to suggest another YSL Rouge Volupte for you to swatch for the Summer Season series. It’s #27, Rose Paris. It is a really bright, fun coral. I almost returned it because it was so pigmented, but now I love it! Anyway, I know you like this formula, and I thought it might be a good summer color.

i hate to be a pain in the butt, but could you recommend a mac dupe for this? doesn’t have to be dead on of course, but just whatever you think might be closest?
thanks!

nikki Avatar

try shy girl as well. i find it to be very similar as well!

ps christine, am i in the minority here? i love this! looks even better on you than in the tube as well!

Taylor Avatar

My tender peach comes off a little more bright on me & not so nude. I think it looks a little different on everybody. I love it. 🙂

I went to the store dying to get one of the peach/coral colors (was trying to decide between 13, 26, and 30, but I actually had my heart set on 26). I swatched this on my hand and it looked so ORANGE on my skin. I went with #30 instead. Complemented my skintone much better.

Liz Avatar

Love the shade on you, although I know it’ll probably be too peachy on me. (I’d still want to try, except sadly, it’s a little pricey to take a gamble on.)

Jenn Avatar

Thanks for the swatch, Christine! I’ve been contemplating between Peach Passion and Tender Peach for the longest time, and now I think I know my decision! 🙂

Kristie Avatar

oh wow I love this color! at least the way it looks on you!
could be a whole other story on me since I’m soooo pale.

I unfortunately love seeing money in my wallet too, so I guess I will have to suffer haha oh well! 😉

Shannon Avatar

How come we can’t see the swatches for this one? It says please do not hotlink images… hmm bummer, I wanted to see this shade 🙁
