Bright Makeup: Sky Blues

Bright Makeup: Sky Blues

I got the BLUES! At least, when it comes to the next week… because it’s study, study, STUDY! I feel like my focus is off, too, which is very annoying and frustrating. I managed to get through one outline yesterday, and today, I hope to get through another today… and then start memorizing both!

You will need the following…

For eyes, start by applying Soft Ochre paint pot as your eyeshadow base all over the eye area with the 249. With the 239 and water-based mixing medium (or water), apply Frost pigment all over the lid area. Using the 239, apply Vellum eyeshadow on the inner third of the eyelid. Next, apply Sky Blue eyeshadow on the middle third of the eyelid and lightly blend with the inner corner. Darken the outer third of the lid with Winkle eyeshadow with the 239, gently brushing it into the lower crease. Lightly blend Atlantic Blue eyeshadow, with the 226, into the outer crease and corner. Define the crease by sweeping Electric Eel eyeshadow into the lower crease with the 219. Lightly tap and brush Vellum eyeshadow directly above the crease to soften. To finish the eyeshadow look, sweep Shroom eyeshadow as a highlighter on the brow bone. Bring everything together by applying Oriental Blue eyeliner on the outer half of the lower lash line and Turquoise eyeliner on the inner half of the lower lash line. Apply NC15/NW20 pencil on the lower waterline to make eyes pop. Finish by sweeping lashes with Plushlash mascara.

For cheeks, apply Peach blush to the apples of the cheeks and sweep upwards towards the temple with the 116. Then, highlight cheekbones by sweeping Amber Diamond with the 165.

For lips, apply #101 lipstick first, and then layer C-thru lipiglass for a complementing lip. An alternative lip could be created by first applying Brit lipstick layered with #01 gloss.

Very pretty…I wish I could wear that look to work. Well I could, but it might be a bit too much. No one really wears makeup where I work (crazy people!)

Love the look! Vellum has been discontinued by MAC:(

About a month ago I went to the pro store to buy it and they said it was discontinued. Hopefully they’ll re-release it at some point!

Wow!! Nice blue, reminds me of the blue sky on a bright summer day. 😉 Love the blending.

I just had a blue EOTD too from a makeover….but more toward blue smoky…

You are welcome, Christine.

The artist used shades from Estee Lauder Signature Eyeshadow Quad Blue Smoke(navy blue) and a Pure Color Eyeshadow with aqua blue shade(discontinued) as it was a makeover from Estee Lauder. 🙂

One of my favourites in a long time Christine! I’m wearing coral tonight (Vegas Volt!) but I’ll try it tomorrow. I’m already thinking of the shadows I’ll use (that I own!)

Such a pretty look, I have one thing that I’ve always wanted to say about your eye makeup, I always think your look would be more complete or ‘finished’ with an eyeliner on top lids, just curious if you use them or if there is a reason why you don’t use one regularly?
So pretty !

You’re as coooold as iiiiice… The Guerlain lips are my favorite. I also lurve the two eyeliners and the undercrease color. It adds an extra dimension to the look 🙂

hey christine

i like the bold brow effect this look has…it reminds me of the alexander mcqueen collection from a couple years back.

this is off topic, but i was just having a browse through your ‘looks’ archive (i was hoping to find some inspiration for ‘newly minted’… which i finally purchased before it completely disappears from my mac store), and it’s really amazing how much you have developed your documenting style and photo format. great work!

very nice christine :), love this.. i’ve been obsessed with blue eyeshadow lately, and that mascara is made for you!

That looks gorgeous on you, but then again – your blue looks are always extremely flattering to your skintone and eye color 🙂

I do have a suggestion though, as a long time daily reader. I hope you don’t take this as criticism Christine, because you’re a beautiful gal with a great site that I make it a point to visit every single day (seriously! It’s on my daily viewing list!).

BUT, it would be really nice to see some more streamlined makeup looks. It seems like all of the makeup looks are sort of “done up” and complicated.

For instance, this look has a shadow base, SEVEN eyeshadows, and 3 liners incorporated. And while you look beautiful, I think most of us probably don’t use quite so many products in our looks. It would be really cool to see some looks with instructions that are a little more streamlined – like a more traditional 3 shadows, one liner kind of thing for those of us who would like to be inspired by something that we could actually find the time for and/or pull off in the morning 🙂

It’s just a suggestion though – as someone who reads all the time, I’d love to be able to see a look done by you and then try it myself. With these ones with so much shadow though, I don’t see myself doing it. It would be cool to see some pared down options! 🙂

Hi Brie,

This is just kind of how I do my makeup — I’ve always enjoyed combining different shades, colors, and textures — but you can always modify something I do, if you like it, to suit your style/lifestyle/time. Just like I don’t expect everyone to own what I use, so I always encourage people to use what they have in their stash that works best. This look took me about fifteen minutes to do, from eyes to cheeks to lips, so overall, it was quite streamlined in terms of time — no heavy lifting at all 🙂 I think it actually took longer for me to clean my brushes afterward than to apply, LOL!

I am sure that you get this question all of the time but what type of camera do you use to take your makeup pictures? TIA! 🙂
