The Spring Season: Guerlain Brit Rouge G de Brilliant Lipstick
Guerlain Brit (B40) Rouge G Le Brillant Lipstick ($46.00) is a softened coral-orange with a rich, glossy sheen and subtle gold shimmer. As I mentioned in my review of a few shades of Rouge G Le Brilliant, the formula is smooth, glossy, lightweight, and moisturizing. It feels almost like a lipstick-gloss hybrid on lips, and the color is sheer but not ultra sheer.
You get enough color pay off, but it’s sheer enough that those with more pigmented lips will find more variation in how these shades look on their lips. Brit lasts around three or four hours on me, as compared to the original Rouge G line-up that lasts an average of five hours.
I love this kind of color for spring, though. It’s a pop of color without being bright or overwhelming and can be worn alone with just mascara or paired with a heavier eye look.
Is this the right coral lipstick for you? Would you wear it?
The Spring Season is a series of posts featuring my favorite soft beige, coral, and pink lipsticks and lipglosses — all perfect for the first blossom of spring — that runs through March 2010.
Wowza!I have officially come to the conclusion that ALL Rouge G’s are simply gorgeous!!!!!!!! I love this shade – it has me all over it. I simply love this series too Christine – thank you sooo much!
BTW – I finally got Chanel Rouge Allure Lacque in Santal thanks to your excellent reviews and I just love it!!!!!!!! It shows up more of a peachy nude on me and I couldn’t be happier!
YAY! I’m so happy you’re lovin’ Santal! 😀
Christine, do the Rouge G de Brilliant lipsticks apply smoothly? Maybe it’s just the photograph but it doesn’t seem as even as the Rouge G’s generally are. I find the idea of naming this line Rouge G quite odd. Aren’t they different enough from the usual Rouge G lineup to merit a different name?
Very smoothly to me!
It’s in the same case, so I imagine that’s why it still has Rouge G in the title – though I think the official name is like Rouge G de Guerlain Le Brilliant!
On second look, they are even, there was just a smear on my monitor! How embarrassing. Yeah, it just seems like the case that’s similar. It’s a very very very expensive case which is the main reason I’m grizzling about it. I would collect every single shade of Rouge G if price were no object.
I like the case, but it’s not worth $15, LOL! At least, I am more about the lipstick itself than the case and would rather pay $30 than $45!
I really love the rouge g’s, just wish they didn’t cost so much. I love how soft and pretty this color is.
I am loving these Guerlain l/s! They all looks sooo gorgeous…I haven’t seen one yet that I don’t like.
I love this shade! Funnily it seemed more pigmented to me when I tested it last week. I really want it, but I’m still waiting for it to pop up on eBay. 🙂
I really like this color. I wonder how it will look on me.
So pretty!!!!! 🙂
Thank you for this post! I am a big fan of coral shades. Coral looks great with most skin tones and is a very versatile shade that looks wonderful teamed with many other shades.
However, when it comes to lipstick I prefer to purchase something a little less expensive. I would rather splurge on quality with items such as foundation and powder, which need to be long-lasting and provide a certain level of coverage.
As for lipstick, no matter how much you spend, it will still wear off and I find that the cheaper ones still stand up to the most expensive brands.
