Sephora Fuchsia Mermaid & Good Fairy Ultra Shine Holographic Lip Gels Reviews, Photos, Swatches
Sephora Fuchsia Mermaid Ultra Shine Holographic Lip Gel
Sephora Fuchsia Mermaid Ultra Shine Holographic Lip Gel ($14.00 for 0.11 fl. oz.) is described as a “holographic salmon pink.” It’s a light, pink-tinted base with lighter, rosy pink, silver, and gold shimmer. This shade lightened and brightened my natural lip color while adding a lot of shimmer and sparkle to the lips. I liked how the shimmer covered evenly, and it had more “opacity” due to the sheer amount of shimmer in it. The texture was smooth, non-sticky, and comfortable to wear. The gloss lasted for three hours on me and was hydrating over time. MAC On Cue (LE, $22.00) is less shimmery (95% similar). MAC Seducing Sound (LE, $21.00) is warmer (90% similar). MAC Rags to Riches (LE, $20.00) is more shimmery, lighter (90% similar). MAC Viva Glam Ariana Grande (LE, $21.00) is cooler (90% similar). MAC Bright Pink Bouquet (LE, $28.00) is darker, more pigmented (90% similar). NARS Supervixen (P, $26.00) is darker, warmer (90% similar). Jouer St. Tropez (LE, $16.00) is cooler (90% similar). Marc Jacobs Beauty Love Buzz (324) (P, $29.00) is lighter (90% similar). Make Up For Ever 203P Golden Pink (P, $19.00) is less shimmery, more pigmented (90% similar). Buxom Trixie (PiP, $20.00) is lighter (90% similar). Revlon Peach (DC, $7.49) is darker, warmer (90% similar). Sephora Fresh Peach (07) (P, $12.00) is more shimmery, lighter (90% similar). Burberry Gold No. 25 (LE, $29.00) is lighter, warmer (90% similar). Urban Decay Freestyle (DC, $20.00) is warmer (90% similar). Becca Opal x Jade (LE, $22.00) is cooler (90% similar). MAC Pale Moon (LE, $28.00) is lighter, cooler (90% similar). Revlon HD Amber (555) (DC, $8.99) is warmer (90% similar). MAC Flare for Fantasy (LE, $20.00) is less shimmery (90% similar). Pat McGrath Dare to Bare (P, $30.00) is less shimmery, less pigmented, cooler (85% similar). ColourPop Hack (LE, $10.00) is cooler (85% similar). Top 20 dupes listed, see the rest. Sephora Good Fairy Ultra Shine Holographic Lip Gel ($14.00 for 0.11 fl. oz.) is described as a “holographic pale pink.” It’s a faintly-tinted pink base with multi-colored shimmer–I get a lot of teal, pink, and silver shimmer in particular. It naturally darkens and enhances the pink tones in my lips, while adding a moderate amount of shimmer and high-shine. It lasted three hours on me and was nicely hydrating, and it didn’t feel gritty and the glitter didn’t travel. Surratt Beauty Amethyste (P, $32.00) is lighter (95% similar). Maybelline Just a Glimmer (P, $4.49) is lighter (95% similar). MAC Inter-spatial (LE, $22.00) is lighter, warmer (90% similar). Pat McGrath Pale Fire Nectar (P, $30.00) is more shimmery (90% similar). ColourPop Neat Freak (LE, $10.00) is lighter, less pigmented (85% similar). Jouer Frost Bite (P, $16.00) is lighter, less pigmented (85% similar). MAC Happily Ever After (LE, $21.00) is lighter, more pigmented (85% similar). See comparison swatches / view dupes side-by-side.
I think both shades are prettier in person than in photos, as the shimmer shifts and reflects light in a more multi-faceted way. I wish Sephora had been clearer about the opacity of these (the description doesn’t really indicate whether they’re sheer or opaque), because it is always nice to set expectations prior to purchasing. They say these are just a holographic variation on their regular gloss line, which has always varied in consistency, but they have tended to call out their sheerer shades with some sort of description. If you like non-sticky, hydrating, and shimmery gloss and don’t mind sheerer coverage, these are fun, but if you prefer more opacity, I’d skip.

I love the look of Fuchsia Mermaid; it looks like you have stars on your lips! I personally don’t wear anything with noticeable shimmer, but these seem like a great formula for gifting this season. I’m especially impressed by the fact that there’s so much glitter and shimmer but the texture isn’t gritty.
I was impressed by how smooth these were. They’re pretty much everything I love about a great shimmery gloss.
Oh I love Mermaid. Reminds me of the Miley Lipglass. Of course this is also LE and not much cheaper lol. Do you think they compare?
Kind of! Miley is going to be more pigmented, I think 🙂
Uh-oh, I hadn’t noticed that these were LE until I began reading the other comments and read this! Hope these will last into December!
I like both. Sometimes it’s just so much fun with really glittery, shimmery lips.
By the way, in the review both are called Sephora Fuchsia Mermaid Ultra Shine Holographic Lip Gel. I’m sure you already knew that, but I thought I’d mention it, just in case. 🙂
Fixed! Thank you!
I picked this up in Fuschia Mermaid and Pretty Princess at the sale. Omg, I love them! You’re right. Pictures don’t do justice. I really want the other two and I hope they make these permanent. My FM is already half gone!
They’re SO pretty, right?? They’re lovely.
They look sticky! But if you say they’re not I’ll take it! 🙂 Good to hear they feel comfortable on the lips.
They’re not! 😀
I swatched some in store and they are gorgeous! I could see lots of sparkles and holographic shift. If I didn’t have so many glosses to use up, I would’ve bought one as a topper
They’re glosses best seen in person 😀
I want ’em both! These are seriously gorgeous and look so much like the MAC Dazzleglass formula lipgloss. Loving the bits of teal reflects in Fuschia Mermaid! Nothing like a sparkly, somewhat holographic lipgloss over a ho-hum lipstick, in my case, MAC Blankety or other ‘dead’ nudes.
They are gorgeous! Sparklier than some of the Dazzleglasses AND more comfortable to wear 🙂
I like those, they look fun to wear! I like that one has more of a silver glimmer and the other more of a gold glimmer. I love my Pomegranate Delirium and those would look good on their own or on top of anything to look festive ?!
They are really fun! 🙂
Sparkles!!! 😀
😀
Wow! I’ m loving the eye look!
Thanks, Maggie!
Wow, the sparkle is beautiful! These would make fantastic lipstick toppers.
It’s really noticeable! Love them.
Oh my god I LOVE sheer glitter lipgloss, both layered and on their own! I need these in my life so badly.
These are amazing if you like that type of gloss, Kayle!! They’re gorgeous.
I love these glosses, but unfortunately I find the fruity scent/flavoring to be really off-putting, so I can’t wear them. Very pretty formula though. Instead, I’ve been loving Lancome’s Gloss in Love – it’s super shimmery, non-sticky and hydrating, and no discernible flavor to me.
Oh no 🙁
I’m a sucker for a good, sparkly layering gloss, so I was excited to see this review just before I left for Sephora (plus the 20% off!).
Yay!
Another pass for me!
